at first i didn't like it either, but it forced me to play smarter, to time my attacks better, to control the battles better.

makes you play smarter and more tactically rather than just being sloppy and healing through it like you could often do in DA:O.

It is just a different set of tactics, not a smarter set.

Sorry any other tactics that force you not to rely on spamming heal are smarter,  being able to spam heal can hardly even be called a tactic.

Sure, fine.  You are the smartest person in the world.  Your brilliant tactic of spamming other abilties instead of heal is a beacon of light in an otherwise dark universe.  If only others could be so brillaint the world would be a better place.

I like the long cd on heal. It makes all the other defensive abilities more important.

I just found a mod that sets all cooldowns to 1 second. Now I can play with the freedom I want. Do I spam and lose all mana/stamina fast or do I use it wisely, I can decide for myself. Perfect roleplaying in my book.

Here it is if anyone's interested: Link

LOL, Benny Hill-kiting is just the perfect word for it.

I have the theme song queued up on hotkey so I can play it for every hard fight :\\

I think the cooldown on Heal is too long for traditional tank and spank builds to be viable (unless it's on normal or casual difficulty) unless your DPS characters CC enemies effectively. I'm playing on Hard atm and I find I need to CC the stronger enemies while quickly disposing of weaker ones because my party doesn't hold up well in a sustained fight. Also, it takes pressure of your party health bars if you use Disorient, Stagger and Brittle combinations to quickly destroy the enemy.

I feel it would be better at 25 second cooldown, perhaps with an upgrade to reduce it to 20. I appreciate that it makes Healing less spammy and more about being intelligent, but at the same time... I don't like using 7 potions during each tough fight.

There is a mod in the modding sub-forum that reduces heal cooldown.

Apparantly that mod is bugged.

Nope, it is working. Read the thread.

Perhaps you can post a link to it, I might not have seen the correct one?

Oh boy. Okay, the "Fight an average size group, just to get ambushed by an outside group" is all too frequent in this game to make the 40 sec CD viable. I can't keep my squishies at a distance because the obvious ambush party is going to attack them first. Nor can I keep them close because if they do take aggro than they will take a few necessary hits before I can get aggro back. "Good" tactics is when you use a good combination of healing, tanking, dpsing and CCing. But this game focuses more on CC and Dpsing than healing or tanking. Every fight just turns into a "How to keep squishies alive with my "meh" tanking since my healing is also "meh". Nearly every fight leads to some ambush and the poor CD isn't helping.

Here is a link to the thread.

http://social.biowar...7/index/6446277

The original mod got updated to work with DA2 proper. There is another mod in the thread that reduces cooldown to 30, 20 or 10 seconds. There is a 3rd mod at the end that reduces the cooldown to one second.

I think the cooldown is fine if you have Greater Heal. Playing on nightmare, Greater Heal + Aid Allies (from Ander's tree) works fine. The only time I need to actually use potions is on the hardest fights, or when I've seriously screwed up in a battle (not keeping aggro on tank, not CCing dangerous enemies quick enough, etc.).

Thanks for that link, I'll save that file in case I get bored with the 1 second thing.

I don't really need to worry about it, I spec for healer, so I got 2 heals, + 100% health regen skill for the group :P. WIth Spirit Healer I got more HP then my tank.

having to chain CC is not necessarily more tactical then chain healing, it just takes more skills, not more skill.

The insanely limited healing makes blitzkrieg damage (skipping a healer altogether) much more viable than waiting around on the stupid CD.

If my tanks could hold aggro from crap it wouldn't be such an issue either, but with adds dropping into fights literally from the freakin' rooftops all of my squishy characters end up pounding potions.

I'm sure I'll figure out a way to optimize it, but right now but it feels very underpowered and almost useless.

Modifié par PirateT138, 12 mars 2011 - 10:29 .

40sec CD is fine. just check your mini map to see if new enemies spawn then act accordingly. reposition your party as needed. i play on hard difficulty and my best lineup is Hawke tank, varric, merril, anders. you can control the battle using non tanking spells like wards and fogs, stuns. for long battles i think i use 1-2 heals + 1mass heal. 40sec CD is fine, anything lower i feel would be OP.

It's obvious Bioware's goal was to make investing in the Creation tree or Spirit Healer tree less required. IMO I think it was a good idea. These trees are still good but not a must. I'm currently playing in nightmare and relying on other skills like Arcane Shield and Stonewall. Their decision allows different ways to get by.

I really like the ammount of group CC they added to the game, but it seems like the console version is so much harder (or at least more awkward) to be tactical in. The changes to healing and damage avoidance make me wish I had a decent gaming PC.

Pick up skills like upgraded barrier (temporary damage immunity) or upgraded stonewall (same) to extend survivability. Between the two of those you can survive a long time with a 40s heal.

The thing that makes me sad is that the Creation tree is a bit crummy now - especially if you happen to want to play a dedicated healer - you pretty much have to wait until you can pick up the Spirit Healer specialisation before you can do so effectively.

I mean I like the long cooldown, it forces some interesting decisions, but having something like a faster heal as the capstone ability of the Creation tree would've been cool and a nice incentive to complete it (instead of mainly dabbling in it).

"or the entire party get whooped because the rogue wants to stand in an aoe, along with the tank, and someone a ranged dps followed them in."

have you been in one of my guilds raids in wow ? :D

yes healing is boring now and there is nothing to it as you only have 1 main heal

they should bring back the healing tree from Dragon Age 1
