Deja Vu all over again. A year ago, ME2 had BioWare slipping off the brink of the abyss.

This isn't a forum. It's a drama queen chat room.

I snorted coffee all over my monitor. Thanks.

As much as I love the Mass Effect series, it is Star Wars: The Old Republic, that will make or break the company. That is a huge gamble. That being said, a good ME3 can't be bad, and a poor ME3 won't help.

Arrival is Biowares last chance with the ME series. The DA team did a good job with the writing in DA2 so I have no worries there.

I'm not an FF fanboy but correct me if I'm wrong here - that series is usually criticized for not innovating while Bioware is being criticized for innovating. And how exactly do you listen to your fans? No one on these boards agrees about anything except that Bioware should do exactly what each of us says because we're special.

The Internet is full of noise and fury signifying nothing. Greatness will never be achieved listening to it.

DA2 was rushed, absolutely. It is a very good game with great writing. That's not uncommon for Bioware. NWN didn't wow the critics. Jade Empire didn't amaze the fans. Sure, they each of their dedicated fans who love them but they weren't hits. DA2 is probably pretty average for a Bioware game.

Yes, BG2, KotoR and ME2 and DA:O did very well but Bioware doesn't alway ring the bell. It's never meant the end of the company and it won't this time.

Exactly, and almost every did you like ME2 poll on this forum has surprisesurprise shown that the fans LIKED ME2. What they mean is they want Bioware to listen to a vocal minority, which no they most certainly should not do.

So yes I think Bioware is doing a fine job listening to its fans.

Soo can anyone fill me in on exactly why DA2 is receiving such negative fan response?  I played DAO and enjoyed it and was planning on picking up DA2 in a week or so, but I see all this hate for it and am doubting doing that now.

Also, I have full confidence in ME3 being possibly the best in the series.  I really highly doubt that Bioware will ignore the feedback on what fans want from it, I mean they did after all sticky things like "what we want in ME3" from time to time and they often respond to intelligent, coherent, suggestions.  I love both ME and ME2, and I really don't understand why so many people get their panties in a bunch over ME2.  It was a different experience (a successful one IMHO).  It had flaws just like the first game did, but I don't crucify Bioware or anyone over it.

Well after hanging out at the DA2 forums for a couple of days, all I can say is that those guys make the ME2 "critics" look like smart and well adjusted individuals.

As for the OP, last hope?, really? If anything Bioware is at an all-time high. I can just imagine the doctors right now smoking 100$ dollar bills, celebrating.

DA2 is a good game. The IGN review is pretty decent IMO in giving it an 85.

Most of the rage isn't because the game isn't a 95. That's just fuel for the fire. These people are raging the exact same reason ME1 fans rage - because Bioware has cruelly betrayed them all and murdered their families... errr.. or because it has simplfied RPG mechanics. That lower rating is just blood in the water for them, driving them into a frenzy.

But rest assured. None of these fans will ever buy a Bioware game again. Unfortunately, they will post on these forums for the next several years.

Probably, it's also the cause for the kinda unjustified bashing for DA2.

Makes you wonder... *goes off to check any supermoon appearance in Q4 2011*

Seriously though, that whole thing is just a bunch of cr*p. :bandit:

About the topic now...BioWare's nowhere near lost, in fact, compare it to the majority of studios out there, and you'll find them (BW) better in a lot of things.
This DA2... bashing?, Is just temporal, wait a couple weeks, maybe a month. Then you'll see it is a great game (not a masterpiece by BW standards) but it is really enjoyable, and AFAIK, the ME3 team is REALLY committed to make the best game they can...so don't worry
... so soon at least. :P

I agree. I don't see all the hate about DA2, but its there. And there are reaons for it. I think if Bioware ignores those problems then, well, there will be a problem

It interferes the core objective to their gaming experience; shoot things. We are undoubtedly the most opposite fanbases in existence and BioWare must decide between them. You cannot have your cake and eat it too."

Not necessarily.... I happen to love both genres and play ME and CoD! *gasp*
(started bioware with KOTOR fyi)

Besides, it could be argued that they would be "pulling a square enix" by staying with the same old, same old that made their past games great.

It's also intersted to know what this Biowares fan base is, becuase I own many Biowares games, Like BG, BG2, NVN, Kotor, DAO, ME, ME2. I see no problem in Biowares games so far. Sure, I haven't yet buyed DA2, because I was never intersted about it much. But this "end of world" talk has make my curiosity wake, so maybe I buy it later. I definetly buy ME3, because it's gonna be nice game. They have also development it longer time than DA2 and had they game design more define, because two game in same serie before.

Last hope, when selling millions of they games everytime they make one?

I'm not worried about them crashing, no, they'll sell games. But the intergrity of what made Bioware Bioware may be compromised, especially if ME3 is rushed out the door. Which would be their last hope as a company whose goal it is to make great games, not just money.

No, TOR is EAs last hope.

They should have finished TOR first and used the money to allow Bioware to create better games.

Let the young folk enjoy their MMO while giving their old base what they want.

SWTOR isn't really Bioware. The writing team is Bioware (which is an important part) but the management and devs are all new hires, mostly from Mythic but from around the MMO dev community. It's mostly just branded Bioware because of the reputation. If it fails, all of EA takes it on the chin, not simply Bioware.

Don't know what to say, you are little negative. Like making assumptions what motive Bioware has for making games. Is it based actual knowledge or your own assumption based what you know about situation. Yeah, people assume so much, know so little.

Bioware is talking longer time to make ME3, than DA2 or even BG2. In Januar 2010 they where allready starting to make ME3 as far I know.
