[*]Did you try reinstalling it? even tho you say it is up to date. Make sure you have Framework 3.5 SP1 installed, also, any on the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005/2008 Redistrubtable packages are up to date. If they are up to date. Re-download them and reinstall them,RoboCobra wrote...

I redownloaded the latest .net framework and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008. I reinstalled Dragon Age 2. Same problem. The release date checker gets to 100 percent, closes, and says "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working".

As with the high-end textures, please also release a locale/place/dungeon upgrade as the constantly rehashed rooms (I believe that is the best word) make the game feel extremley tedious. Even though the sidequests and the story is really good. Takes a LOT from the expreience and enjoyment. All in all I'd like to see a bunch of unique interiors made for DA II.

I can understand why buildings and dungeons use the same texture sets - I don't have a problem with that at all - but what I cannot work out is why BioWare simply repeated the exact same layouts for many of them! That is very, very lazy design if you ask me. It makes the game seem more repetitive than it needed to be IMHO and it doesn't take long before you start to notice the same old rooms repeating themselves over and over again. What's wrong with varying them a bit to make them less predictable? At times I was unsure whether I was actually in a new location or revisiting one I'd already been to three or four times already. Gives the feeling the game world is smaller than it actually is.

This vexes me since I'm logged in as the base administrator, at this point.
Using Windows 7 64bit.
As a side note, we may have pinpointed the cause linked to an outdated Bios (this machine has seen many peace-meal upgrades in its time) due to a symptom of windows 7 unable to figure out what processor or ram I am using in the system information panel.
Is this patch supposed to fix that edge case? Not update the bios, but ignore the glitch that the bios is particularly old?

Yes, very sad about that, thats the only thing imho that could be much, much, much better ;they should look at Mass effect 2 and take an example of those locations in game where the main quest have allways unique lay-outs.

Will the patch resolve the problems with imported saves from Dragon Age Origins and Awakening in example decisions made in two above and decisions made in DA2?
Its not an RPG if your decisions are meaningless and the game screw them up or change them:/

Hey, what about fixing the DX 11 mode, so it is actually playable? Any news on that?
I think we will see it. We just must be a bit patient and let them work on itI think they are already doing on it.
I set everytzhing to maximum except AA. I set it to 4x.
With these settings on Very High, i have decent frame rates and no black triangle tiles or blocky shadows in the top left quadrant of the screen.
So it's okay, i suppose.
But one should NEVER EVER release a game in such a state again.
