Alright so I'm on my second playthrough. Why the extreme hatered for Mages, even my own brother has a high rivarly rating with me nearly right away as I enter the game. I was sort of hoping the playthrough would be different though the quests are the same, just your reactions to them can change.

You can change major things at plotpoints. I dunno, it's like I already know what's going happe. But back on topic, what's with extreme hate from mages by everyone in the city?

Playing a Mage in DA2 gives me a new appreciation of D&D and the magic system in D&D is the pits.

If you beat the game, I would imagine you already have seen the reasons why one could hate mages.

As for Carver, he has a rival slant no matter what as he has a little brother complex. Don't worry about him.

It's just different I played the video game as the Warrior, everyone is cool with me. My sister is polite and kind. I stick up for her when I choose. Then..I pick a mage, my sister dies and I'm left with my brother which I'm half tempted to take him into the dark roads at the end of act 1 just to get rid of him.

Mages are treated as poorly as the Elfs in the first game. I had better interaction when my sister was in my group then listening to everyone disapprove while I approve of anders.

Can anyone give me any insight into the dlc, off topic. I heard he fights anders at the end who is he and what is his deal.

Well mages are silly, all of them are. Except Hawke ones. Only reason I kept helping them on my first run through was, because I hoped they would somehow redeem themselves in the end, but no. They're worse than Templars. Templars just have few crazy leaders, while most of the followers seem rather sane. Mages however, all rotten to the core.
