Cullen to my mage character after she saved him BY USING MAGIC and is carrying a staff and mage robes:
"Mages are not like you or me."

Riiight.

Weird that they didn't have a specific VO tree for Cullen if I'm a mage AND he's seen me use my magic.

Yeah, it was. I was also kind of hoping that he'd say something about Amell so I could be all 'ah, so you know my cousin Solona? Yeah she's pretty awesome, right?'

Can you imagine what his face would have looked like?

This had to be one of my biggest issues with playing a mage. I understand having every templar flip his biscuit whenever you were nearby would be a bit much, but damn. :x

Actually, he does mention fem!Amell if you talk to him in the Gallows in Act 2. He seemed to be pretty fond of her. I was surprised.

He said in the end of conversation 'She was a special woman. I never met her like again'. English isn't my native language so i haven't quite understood what he meant: he never met her again or he never met anyone awesome like her again?

Also if the whole purpose of ACT 1 is to go get rich/run away because the templars are suddenly keeping an eye on you, why the heck do so many come ask for help?
Aaaand, then Carver joins the templars? Whaaaaa?
Truthfully the mage storyline is a little 'suspend your disbelief until it's positively dangling"

Yeah its a bit weird going full fireball and chain lightning right in front of about a dozen wandering and stationed Templars. But I like to think they're staring at my Mage Hawke's chest.

Mage Hawke: *ZAP* Great job everyone, great job. Its good to see so mages and Templars working together to halt bandits and riffraff.
Templar: ...
Mage Hawke: My eyes - up here. Yoo hoo, they're glowing.
Templar: ...
Mage Hawke: I'm gonna chalk this up to lyrium withdrawal.
Templar: Would you terribly mind pouring a flask of lyrium all over your naked body?
Mage Hawke: ...
Templar: What? I took vows but I'm not dead.

Yeah, I'm really re-thinking playing as a mage. I can normally suspend my disbelief at one or two unrealistic things in a game, but this, along with the fact that Carver seems to hate mages (despite his whole family being them, I can understand a little resentment, but he's just an ass about it), really makes playing a mage seem like an afterthought for the devs.

It's like, originally they wanted to make an action RPG with only warriors and rogues playable, and then they decided to shoe-horn mages in there too. Or something.

I mean, I'm loving the game, but it is a little facepalm-y,

I have to agree, it would have been hilarious if you could tell Cullen that your Fem Amell is your first cousin, he probably would have melted on the spot. He would probably have gone home that night wondering what it is about Amell woman and him lol.

That being said, I found myself liking him this time around, despite me being a mage. Guess getting out of the Tower helped him, or perhaps Cullen visited The Blooming Rose to release some tension?

Ok, I got to a point where Knight Commander Meredith goes 'I'll overlook your own use of magic for now'. Good. I didn't even have to point out I'm a mage, like I usually do.

In origins it was the same.
Alistair: 'You don't look like a mage'
Amell/Surana:*stands in mage robes holding staff* Yeah riiiight...
I begin to suspect that there's something completely wrong in templar's training.

I feel like 90 percent of the Templar ranks are just dumb muscle and meat.

Requirments being that you can swing a sword, lift heavy things, and have an undying devotion to the Maker.

And popping lyrium potions like they are energy drinks.
