Is there anything extra for spending 50g on the deep roads expedition? Do you get any extra gold, items, or quests after the expedition? I feel like it would be better to save the gold I have to spend on items, and have the dwarf pay for me.
Anything extra for funding Deep Roads Expedition on your own?

You get the 50 gold back at the very beginning of act 2, so you don't actually lose the money. (you can't use it in the deep roads anyway.

If you go in with dougal after the expedition he tries to extort more money out of you.
