I'm also rather curious about this. I'd like to hear about anyones archer experience to tell the truth. Is it worth it?

Personally I get the Archery stuff, and assassin tree, the specialist tree (BTW only max one mode), rest spend as according to your taste.

I play as an Archer in DA2 and its a little bit overpowered if you ask me.

My idea was to get 100% crit-rate and high crit-damage and fastest attack speed possible. I followed the approch from classic DA:O.

If you are interested in the DA:O guide, you can find it here -> dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Archery:_An_Efficient_Approach. Its really good.

My first goal was at lvl13. Here I respeced like this...

Archery:
Pinning Shot
Bursting Arrow
Hail of Arrows
Archer's Lance

Specialist:
Speed (Acitivate)
Precision
Power Power
Lightning Speed
Harmony

Assassin:
Mark of Death
Mark of Doom
Bloodlust
Pinpoint Strikes
Devious Harm

Scoundrel:
Blindside

Currently I'm working on the Duelist skills to finish this build...

Duelist:
Throw the Gauntlet
Parry (Activate)
Riposte
En Garde
Sure Strikes

And some flavor on top...

Subterfuge:
Evade
Stealth
Subtlety (very useful)

Finaly I will go for...
Assassinate + Annihilate + Overkill
Vendetta + Blood Feud

I use Varric as an second rogue with Miasmic Flask and Goad/Corral. Than this additional Scoundrel talents are handy for Hawke.

Twist the Knife: Miasmic Flask + Hail of Arrows -> 100% Crit AE of Doom
Back-to-Back: Draw Aggro (Throw the Gauntlet) or after "Hail of Doom" -> Port to your Tank -> Goad on Tank or Taunt if the baddies arrive.
Follow-Through

Other noteable buffs are only upgraded Heroic Aura from Mage.

Currently at Lvl16 I'm sitting on 90% crit-rate with 181% crit-damage and 100% attack against bosses. Sustained Speed gives 15% attack speed.

I'm playing on hard, but think nightmare will work too. I started on nightmare but give up around Lvl10 because I hate too cheese every fight.
On Hard the crits are in the 600-800 range against critters and normals (one hit) and somewhere from 300-500 against Elite/Bosses. Varric is speced very similar and his output is also very high. Elites are dead from auto-attacks in 4-5 second if I direct both Hawke and Varric on one target. Harder enemies die also very fast if I add Mark of Death and Rhyming Triplet (Varric). Archer's Lance is only used to knock back/interupt Elite casters. Normal mobs fly over and explode on normal hits (crits). Its like the first fight where you wear your champions armor.

An dual wield build should work the same way, if not faster. You need only Unforgiving Chain and get another 20% crit-rate, so you should reach the 100% crit on auto attacks around Lvl14/15.

PS:
I had around 60% crit and 130% crit rate as I started with this build at Lvl13. Crits are in the 250-300 range at this time and I think thats more than enough at this stage.
