Personally, I think Dragon Age 2 is a big step up from Dragon Age: Origins.  I own the Xbox 360 version, and love the combat.  I'm more of an action guy than a tactical guy, and thought the combat was amazing.  The graphics look a lot better in my opinion.  I don't see why a good amount of people have a problem with this game, and I think it should be getting better reviews than it has been.

I guess the combat is better, although it should be toned down a little. However everything else Origins did a million times better, from story and characters to environments and pacing.

OH YEAH, a huge step up, those re-used textures, the re-used character voices on alot of the NPCs, the re-used locations.  As far as how to recycle a game goes, its a huge step up!

And the combat, phewww!!! that is such a blast, i love not being able to zoom out to set my AOE radials in a proper area, that is the BOMB BABY.

And the story is the most unique i've ever seen, it's like, it's not even there! which is SO cool!

And the side quests? are all really really wel done and unique, i enjoyed every single side quest it has offered me.

And the combat is amazing! how the enemies just appear is fantastic! im blasting a couple of guys then all of a sudden my mage is dead! 6 other enemies appear out of NOWHERE, the cunning and cleverness of them! So tricky!

DA:O, no comparison. DA 2 is a sad joke.

DAO > DA2 in everything except graphics, and you can even argue that DA2 simply had a different art style

DAO was like travelling across the country curbstomping werewolves and golems
Da2 was in one city, "oh Hawke find my son" "oh hawke talk to this guy" fff-----

DA:O for me without question. I'm not much into action and prefer the slower, more tactical combat in DA:O to the frantic combat in DA2. Finding a middle ground between the two options would probably be the smart thing for Bioware to do.

Don't get me wrong, DA2 isn't as bad as some people make it but it leaves a lot to be desired for me.

There is no doubt about it - DA2 is an evolutionary step forward from DA. DA2 is better.

It's subjective, so all this is my opinion, of course, but DAII has better graphics, a better story, better characters, better acting, better gameplay, a better RPG ruleset (almost identical, of course, but the small tweaks are definitely improvements), and better emotional pull. In every way I care about, DAII is the superior game. Origins was just more "polished," and I attribute that to its inordinate development time.

Well, if you like an 'epic' plot go for Origins
If you like a more personal story go for DA2

Bioware is all about the story, nothing else matters.

It's  funny becuase on these forums the opposite opinion is actually "being a sheep"

Dragon Age Origins by far. Even Awakenings which had it's problems I'll admit, was far superior to the rubbish that is Dragon Age II

Hmm I loved the combat style in DA:O. I guess I was wrong since story is all that matters apparently.

I am enjoying DA2 thus for, however I agree with most of the posts above. Bioware took a page from SquareEnix on the rehashed maps and voices, textures etc and that doesn't set right with me. It also explains how they finished a sequel so fast. They rushed it out the door to make a quick buck, when they could have just give more expansions in DA O. Therefore my vote is DA O as the better game

I may be one of the few with this opinion, maybe/maybe not, but ever since EA, Bioware just is NOT the same as they used to be.

To me Origins had the better storyline, combat and just general immersion in the gameplay and environment. This has some better graphics and cutscenes and that's really all.

DA:O >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DA2 for me.

Both are fine games, but if I had to pick I would choose Dragon Age: Origins.
