It's like two opera divas being at each other's throats rather than just singing different repertoire well.
Which is better: Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age 2?

A duet = Harmony
A duel = discord
Many singers turn duets into duels. Ancient practice.
DAO and DAII........they obviously cannot co-exist. Like an opera house having not one but two prima donnas.

There was no skills in DA2, there was talents and they where much more complex then DAO, more so the specs.erynnar wrote...
Sorry Raice, DAO is more complex on the skills. Been playing it again, and not just for a refresher. I have played for hours. I don't just spam dex and cunning for my rogues. I put points in str and con too. It helps. DA2, I did that and found it was as useful as ****** on a boar hog.

Yea so start talking in normal language on computer games forum. Not everyone cares about the opera.
Pardon me but I'am such a big ignorant in that area of knowledge that I even don't know what "diva" means so i have no idea what you are talking about in your analogies.

One need not know anything about opera to understand the term "diva". It's used constantly. Everywhere.

I'm pretty sure they can exist together. Some people like one better than the other- some like Dragon Age 2, some hate it. Same goes for Dragon Age: Origins. Just because one may not have been as good as they other doesn't mean they can't exist together.

Yes, they can exist together. They do. They are both in existence. Is DAO the better game? Yes, it had more dev time, and polished. Still flawed? Yes. Did some people hate it? Yep. Did some people love it and still love it? Yep (me being one). Is DA2 flawed? Yep. Was it rushed? Seems to be. Do people still love it despite that? Yep. Do they both provide enjoyment? Yep.

Guess someone never heard Led Zep's Page & Plant - voice vs guitar duel ... hehehe
What has Opera to do with Dragon Age... except if you were trying to say that Origins is to Amadeus' The Marriage of Figaro what Dragon Age 2 is to Handel's Giulio Cesare: One is the most famous Opera... the other is the most boring one!
Well, that's a bit harsh. DA2 is by no means equal to the most boring Opera ever... just to a second class one. some still like it. But love it like it were a master piece of opera composition? Mostly the composer's friends and relatives perhaps. They don't try to "cover the sun with a sieve" as we say here, however, like you, txgoldrush and very few others do. For some people DA2 may be the best game ever but for the whole majority of gamers, reviewers, youtube commentators, forum posters all over the world, it definitely is not. Doesn't come even close.

DA2 was rushed and even though Bioware are really great illusionists the rushed nature of the title is really apparent and it hurts the game.
Also:
Combat
Skills
Talents
Animation
Level Design
Story
Character Interaction
.... ALL better in Origins.

Meh that's where I disagree. Animations really depends/ I like that it was faster looking but it was over the top. But the combat imo was an improvement.

For me if the combat is going to be all hyper then I want more player control like active blocking, jump kicks, and nunchakus and stuff. But I would much prefer a more RPG approach with slower combat, a really in depth combat log, slower speed but more options, smarter opponents instead of more opponents, and fights that make sense from a lore and story viewpoint. Also in the spirit of RPG I would like more ways to AVOID combat and these ways should be supported by different kinds of character builds.

I've got to disagree with you there. Overall, I think combat in DA2 was better than DA:O (which isn't to say DA2 didn't have bad combat; we're talking degrees of less bad here).
I prefer DA2's unrealistic fast and over-the-top animations to DA:O's unrealistic slow and clearly-never-thought-about-swords-before animations.
I also think character interaction was leaps and bounds above in DA2.

You're probably one of those people that is just upset because you bought Dragon Age 2, expecting to get Dragon Age 2 rather than a completely "innovative" game that is very different than its predecessor.
I can't understand why this small faction of gamers has gotten upset about it... just because it says "Dragon Age 2" doesn't mean you should go around thinking it is even remotely similar to "Dragon Age." The titles are totally different! One has a "2" after it!

"Innovative" as in - it was completly different than its predecessor - then yes.
"Innovative" as in - it has innovative elements for RPG games, Bioware games or any games in general - no it isn't.

Without taking the mikey or second degree digs to Bioware, yes DAII design improved on lots of things in DA:O.
However that genuine improvement did not translate into a better and more imersive experience.
I.e. companions in DA 2 have much more depth and a better design background story but you just end up no really caring about neither them nor de they seem to care about you either.
The combat In DA2 is simpler, you have much less useless talent than in DA:0, influence of the char in damage does not require an integration by part and matrices but you end up with monolithic character/party members that have only one viable strategy and in DA:0 each char could be used at least in two ways.
So you ended with much more tactical options even though you have much more useless talents.

Funny, I thought I would too, prefer DA2's combat (just needs to be slowed down a bit). But I am replaying DAO, and nope, I don't.
I like DAO's better execpt for the rogue and mage animations (and the rogue ones I can do without in a pinch, the mage ones, I do love). I don't like teleporting mages, and the teleporting rogues are silly ( not a game breaker by any stretch, just silly, and unrealistic in the extreme--rogues aren't mages and mages aren't supposed to be able to teleport).
So, color me surprised, but there it is. I find I like the combat in DAO just fine.

Combination of over the top animations, ridiculous gore and especially constant waves, and I got bored of DA2's combat quite quickly.
