I like the combat better, plus, I like the way the story is told.
Which is better: Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age 2?

Both have ups and downs, personally I like Origins more. Althought that said, Origins is IMO the best RPG ever made.

I still think Dragon Age 2 is still a little better.

Neither is factually better. Both are great games IMO. I prefer DA2 atm. But again, I love them both to pieces!

Dragon Age Origins is a far better game story wise and game play wise.

I prefer the combat in Dragon Age 2.

DA2 was better...buggy, and yeah, some things were taken out...but it was definately a better game than Origins. Each game has its positives and negatives, but in the end, DA2 takes a step towards where Dragon Age needs to be.

Dragon Age 2.
Not by a whole lot, but enough.

DA2 combat is full of awesome but that's about it.. oh and the mass effect wheel and voiced player! On the rest i'd say DA:O wins.
Did anyone else feel wierd with all quests/places sharing maybe 4 unique models that got re-used all the time? that's the biggest bummer for me when it comes to DA2... made me sad :/ DA2 was still a good game even though it didn't answer anything from DA:O. The true sequel to both games must be DA3 so i'll have to wait for my closure a few more years.

Eh, both have flaws. DA:O was fun, but the combat felt kinda slow and artificial. DA2 has more enjoyable combat, but many dungeons are copy/pasted. I slightly lean towards DA2; very, very slightly.

Origins. Anyone who says otherwise is either a complete and total noob to RPGs/good games in general or did not play through the original. It's night/day.

Combat is better and less clunky in Dragon Age 2, but Origins outshines it in every way on all the stuff that really matters: story and characters.
Edit: I can't believe some people actually think DA2 is better than Origins. Are you the kind of people that think Torchlight is better than Planescape: Torment?

Origins, by a million miles. Millions. Billions. DA2 isn't as bad as some people say, but it's not great, either. I found it lacking in all areas in comparison.

Origins, not to say DA2 was bad. It's just that for all the things it's better than DA:O at there's something it's worse at.

Origins by far.
DA2 still has potential, but so many corners cut..its hard to even put it in the same league. But DA2 is somewhat fun either way.

DA2 improved on a few things, but went two step backwards on a lot of things, too.
Origins is still better. By far.

Just wanted to say how i like how DA:O just pulls you in and you play multipl times,Where as Da2 dose not, i have yet to go back and play seriously. Not gonna say Da2 is a bad game but it has obvious flaws that COULD and SHOULD have been avioded.
But the graphics and combat are an improvement, but the combat is hack n slash on the consolse to me

Story: Da2 so far, origins had some good ideas and laid the foundation for a very interesting fantasy world but then it went and ripped off every generic fantasy story cliche since the beggining of time. I happen to like fantasy enough that i still enjoyed it, but mainly for the characters, so far da 2 delivers both interesting characters and a somewhat less generic story. The pacing is much better too, no more of the ridiculous 5 min 2 gifts and 4 conversations at the beggining of the game to make a companion fall head over heels for you... relationships with characters actually advance at a believable rate. Also, Giving the main character a voice makes the character interactions feel far more real and gives scenes more emotional impact. I also like the mass effect convo wheel, Still feel like the decisions in both da's have less impact on the world/story than mass effect, Kotor or fallout 3 decisions though, but i haven't completely finished da2.
content: da:o wins here, adding concrete blocks to the same map to make it feel like a different dungeon didn't work. Though if i had to choose between far less sidequests/shorter game and recycled maps i'd pick recylced. Also, releasing dlc at the same time as the game angers me.
Combat: Da2 by an infinite amount, da:o combat was by far it's weakest feature, sure it was more difficult, but it was ugly and tedious to the point that it completely ruined immersion. personally i threw it on casual so i could get the ugliness over with more quickly. Da2 combat is far more fluid the animations are great (it actually looks like i'm hitting things when i swing at them) the ability trees actually make sense no more useless spells to get one good one. Only gripe i really have is the static companion looks, i like that they have their unique style and i don't want to actually equip them, i like varric looking like varric and not generic rogue armor set #3 but they should seriously upgrade at multiple points, or atleast change into something while they wash those clothes... I guess they only change them when they get realllly dirty
. Sidenote: i don't get how speed makes a game less tactical or easier, anyone that's played cs or other competative fps that thinks they are all reaction time is crazy. The tactics are just sped up and evolve more rapidly. Honestly high level fps play or fast paced rts play is probably the most difficult skill intensive form of gaming around.
Graphics: kinda mixed. I like da2's art direction, the armor models look alot better, companions look much better, there's no denying that they're technically better: the lighting effects and shadows are waaaay better, too much so for my pc. Certain areas looked odd to me though, alot of the landscape felt.... geometric?... all lines and angles which just seems out of place in a forested area.
Conclusion: I'd say da2 by a fair bit though it's still no me2 or kotor
da2: 8.5/10
da:o: 7/10

I think DA II is horrible and will only finish it to see the ending and then uninstall it. I played through Origins three times.

Both are really good but I enjoyed DA2 more than DA:O. In my opinion it has a better story, better storytelling and better companions (i love them all, whereas i don't really like the whole lot of them in DA:O) and way better combat. I also liked the new Art (except for the hurlocs).
It also hase downsides and flaws like the bug in Merrills act 3 quest and the recycling of areas but for me the story and the characters are almost all that matters.
