I'm not 100% sure thi is the right board for this, so if it isn't, let me know (mods feel free to move this to another board)
I'm a mage, which means Carver was the brother who survived the beggining of the game, and Im trying to keep him that way... exept I brought him along the deep roads expedition and found out what happens if you bring him along the hard way.
This isn't THAT much of a problem, since I can just load a previous save and re-do the entire mission with Fenris... the problem is, I did some googling after that, and aparently, if I leave him at his house, he will end up joining the templars, and the only way to keep him alive would be by siding with them in a later templar X mages conflict, which I don't plan on doing because the templars tend to be douchebags to mages, and the only way to keep him alive while siding with the mages later is by bringing both Carver and Anders with me into the deep roads (I'm well aware he would still leave my party)... which would be below ideal, since it would mean not bringing Aveline, which is my party's tank. I COULD pump every ability point Anders has been acumulating into healing and go double mage all the way, but I really don't think my party would be able to survive for very long, even with that.
Can anyone give me a sugestion as to what I should do?

Thanks in advance.

carver leaves your party no matter what but 3 things can happen:

1. if don't bring him to the deep roads, he joins the templars

2. if you bring him to the deep roads without anders, he dies of the taint

3. if you bring him to the deep roads with anders, he leaves and joins the grey wardens

but yeah he's gone no matter what at that point. good riddance i say. he was such a douche. im replaying as a warrior just because bethany is so much better

oh and just a quick fun fact, hawke is related to the human warden mage in da:o

*spoilers*

if he is with the templars, he abandons them in the final battle to fight with you. but you never get to use him in your party again

You have to bring Anders. This choice is foreshadowed if you pay attention to the armor that Carver wears in the introduction =)

Oh, I see, thanks for the info.
Off to redo the mission with fenrir, then. Let's just hope fighting against that dragon and stone wraith won't be as hard as it was before.

If you have access to the Black Emporium you could respec yourself or Anders if you really don't want him to be a Templar.

Bethany is the same but one decision makes her happier than the other. I assume it's the same with Carver but which one makes him happier, Wardens or Templars?

I had Bethany and anders along. took forever to fight demons and monsters without a DPS and two weak mages. second playthought and i'll take fenris who isn't a powerful as Carver.

Man I gotta say, playing as a Mage sucks, that Carver is annoying, also mage skills are not as fun as Rogue dual weapon, or two handed warrior. This is my third character, and it has being the worse so far. My advice? forget about playing as a mage lol

Ive never played as a mage, I can't stand the thought of losing Bethany :) . But if I ever did do that I'd just leave Carver at home, let him end up wherever, and not worry about it. However if you want him to become a Warden, I'd say go and and bring Anders along, I recently did the Warden-Bethany thing just to see how it went, and that was by FAR the easiest time I've had with fighting in the deep roads, having Bethany, Varric, and Anders all at range makes those tough fights, especially the big one, WAY less tough. I'd think bringing Fenris or any other close-range person would probably just make that final fight tougher, I'd say don't worry about difficulty if you're going the Warden route, as more ranged attackers=easier boss fight.

He seems ok either way, but I think he takes more pride in being a warden.  Given the state of things at the end of the game he's probalby more useful to the wardens too.  All Carver wanted was to feel like he had a bigger purpose then being Hawke's little brother, he's happy as long as you aren't in his way.

I was a mage, and I had a templar Carver in my party in the final battle. (I sided with the Templars in the final battle for the achievement of becoming viscount) The two of them reconciling there, before fighting the mages is very heartwarming and fun.

Carver: Well here we are. I'm glad you chose this path. I didn't think you would.
Hawke: Mother probably knew it would take something like this to bring us together.
Carver; Ha! She probably did. In any case brother/sister, I'm glad you're here.

I went Mage in Origins and 2. In origins I spec'd glyphs and entropy mostly. I did'nt do much damage till the expansion but I could stun EVERYTHING. It may take a while depending on party make-up, but no one falls if the opponent can't attack. With Carver at the end he sided with Hawke and they worked together to drop Meridith also.

If you're playing on the PC, you can enable the console, and then play through the Deep Roads with any party you want. At the very end of the journey, when you're standing in front of the vault and the locked door after beating the Rock Wraith, open the console, and type

runscript zz_dae_debug

Select the Modify Party option, then Clear Party, then add Varric, Anders and your sibling for Grey Wardenhood, or Varric and your sibling and whoever else for death, or Varric and two other non-sibling party members for Templar/Circlehood.

If you're on a console, sorry, gotta tough it out with a non-ideal party.

FEH. Carver is ****ing amazing. He's UTTERLLY the bitter little brother. He's got more personality then Bethany too.

Warden Carver is more Fulfilled then Templar Carver. Templar Carver will side with you in the end even if you chose the mages over the templars, it just takes some convincing. In fact, Warden Carver gets outright pissed at you if you side with the Templars ;p

I don't get why Carver should have *more* personality than Bethany just because he's conflicting and individual.
Sure he might be more interesting for you, but you can't state him as a bigger personality, for he is not. They are both great in both their ways.

Eh he just feels more.. charismatic, is maybe the word I'm looking for? A bigger personality then the subtle Bethany.. At the end of the day its a preference. I don't dislike Beth, I just like Carver more because I can better relate to the little brother dynamic. Comes from actually not having any sisters, I suspect.

Don't try and pick arguments with me when I like almost all the same things you do! ;p

You're the one who's arguing now. A single comment as a reply to another is hardly an argument, it becomes one if you react as suspected to the provocation.
I have stated my opinion, that's it. There's alot that prefer Carver, just like you.

bah, it was meant in jest, thus the ";p" at the end. You need a hug, or some cookies. Maybe both?

Ah so if "Don't try and pick arguments with me when I like almost all the same things you do! ;p " was jesting i suppose you do want a argument?

Don't try to hide behind excuses or bland attemts at provocation.

On a side note i could use a hug, but hardly because of a online forum Image IPB

Have a hug. Image IPB
We can go back to doing the rival thing tomorrow, but nobody should face a bad day without a hug.

Edit: And yeah, it's still me. Just finally figured out how to change the portrait to the current character.

Grey Warden Carver. He's stepped out of Hawke's shadow a bit and and less bitter about it. He also has a deeper sense of purpose it seems. And he gives my paragon of manliess Hawke a run for his money when he starts teasing Isabela. Best moment of Legacy other than purple Hawke's priceless quips.

It does seem that the "optimal" outcomes for your siblings are Circle Bethany and Grey Warden Carver. Having said that, based on the pre-game fight, where both siblings are shown in Grey Warden armor, it's likely that canon going into DA3 is that whichever one survived became a Grey Warden.

They aren't, Bethany is shown in her Normal outfit but with bigger BImage IPBImage IPBbs, it is only Carver that is in Grey Warden armor.

BAH the meaning has been lost! It was meant to be a good natured statement, not a "RAWR DONT YOU ARGUE WITH ME". This is why I dislike forums. My cheerfulness -never- comes across properly. *flails hands, gives up*
