Why are people bashing EA so much? I'm not saying they haven't made mistakes but I think Blizzard is far worse. Blizzard is the epitome of a money hungry gaming empire that couldn't care less about their customers(Starcraft 2 is a good example of this, I love the game but as far as support and customer care are concerned forget it.)

Please do some research on EA.  It is common practice for them to destroy what was once wonderful.  This will get you started:

"Of course corporations like EA follow a strategy. EA wants to corner the
market in consoles because that's the most attractive to opporate in.
Investors like that idea because that makes them money. So they pressure
Bioware to follow suite. And apparently EA's marketing department drew
up a profile of "the casual gamer" one time. The casual gamer doesn't
like statistics, effort, long convo's, inventory management etc.
Apparently they think casual gamers want flashy graphics and waves of
enemies to kill. And a button for the awesome. So again EA pressures Bio
to follow suite
.'"

Personally
I thought the "one click, one attack" thing was more traditional than
the last one, reminded me of Diablo far more than say Devil May Cry. I
didn't really remember any official word that Mass Effect was for
casual players only either... I thought it was for FPS fans
only.

As far as RPGs go, Mass Effect is very, very casual. Especially ME2.

And what exactly is wrong with that? WHy is casual taken as crappy nowadays?

It's fine for ME to be casual, that's what the series has always been.

DA:O was
freaking billed as the "Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate". Hell
THIS VERY WEBSITE still describes it as such. Taking something that you
directly link to that glorious cRPG series and turning it into ... THIS
... is just appalling.

AMEN!  You want to talk about an insult...there it is.

Oh, look: a Yes Man. How quaint. Have you anything contributional to the conversation?

I wonder, do any of these topics reach the eyes of BW developers?

Maybe it's too much to hope for that

It does, but they place no heart at it if the sales number is high. Afterall, no one "fixes" what is not broken. Afterall, the ones who often pressure a dev to produce "mainstream appeal" games are the ones who never have to be in contact with the consumer base, they are the one who sit at top, look at sales number and decide what the next project should be.

The haters could be a very vocal minority for all we know.

The sales numbers have not been released but DA 2 has not cracked the top 5,  EA has been mum on them because they are less than stellar.  With word of mouth that DA 2 is a horrid game, I doubt if that will see any improvement.  Word's out all over the internet in alarming proportions from what I've seen.

Or they've held on to thefirst week sales numbers due to the issue that it hasn't been a week yet.

Hello, EA fanboy.  Not so good to meet you.

Didn't add anything to the insult of DA 2 being linked with BG 2 because there's nothing more to add.  Just wanted to show my agreement.

As for the sales, see:

http://www.gamezone....to_amazon_3_11/

It's not likely to improve with the negative opinions all over the internet.

It's fair to say that high sales would be because of fans of the first game expected more of Origins, not because the game was actually good.

The Star Wars prequels are an excellent example of this

DA2 certainly has its flaws, but the flaws didn't make it a bad game, it is still a very good RPG in my opinion.

That is understandable, i was going to buy it on relese aswell. Seeing as I was following Skyrim instead of DA2 i missed out on what was happening, when i saw it, i was not too happy.

Anyone forgot EA's failed attempt to do an hostile take over with Take Two few years ago ? and people still wonder why people see EA as evil or here as cancer ? Not only they destroy franchises but they also do the same with the studios they "EAt"

Same here i expected a game as rich as DA:O but with better combat and we all know how it turned out.

I will be honest i did nt followed DA2 very much compared to DA:O but nowhere on the site it tells me DA2 has less rich scenery, recycled maps , re-designed Darkspawns that looks like as if Skelletor had children with apes and i must have missed the memo on the rest of the dumbed down elements we got

This is the way Bioware is going with it's games since KotOR, really. If you don't like it, you can play other games that offer the type of RPG that you enjoy. I may recommend you the Witcher series for your needs. It is not your decision how Dragon Age should be as a series, it's Bioware's decision.

I do agree on the fact that they shouldn't have reused environments, and this I see as EA's fault.

Bioware should atleast brush the fanboys aside and take some advice from the community.

Was this a hint that I'm a fanboy? The term is excessively overused and meaningless now, I don't agree with everything that Bioware does, but in terms of this subject I do disagree with the OP.

Besides, you logic seems to be that people with the same opinion as yours are "the real community" and rest are "just fanboys who can be disregarded"? This logic is faulty, we're all part of the community here and our opinions are equally valid. While I do agree that it's good for Bioware to listen to it's playerbase, I don't think you realized that they are doing exactly that. It's just not the part of the community that you belong to.

I always thought this article was an interesting read:

Please note that the article is from the end of 2005 though, and some if the information is now outdated.

Now, I sort of had the feeling that EA was moving in the right direction the last few years (from my point of view), but who knows. I still dislike Activision more though.

I wonder how many BioWare employees have been replaced with EA employee.

Just because they kept the name does not mean they are the same.

Yep, read it a while back.  Leopard can't change its spots.  EA fooled a lot of people into thinking it would change.  Awakenings and DA 2 are shining examples that it has not.
