I don't think you can. I get te impression that if your character died in Origins you have to start frm scratch with Awakening as an Orlesian Warden but you can't import the decisions of a dead character without resurrecting them.

I think the official position is that it's an Orlesian who looks a lot like your dead grey warden...
(though I've never tried myself)

If you don't want to play as a warden who came back to life, then just start as an Orlesian warden or pick a different character. The option is simply there for people who want to play as their Warden, even if they should be dead. Unfortunately, you can't import your dead warden's plot decisions without actually playing as them.

I read in the Dragon Age 2 threads that it's kind of fixed now. If you import a character who made the sacrifice into Dragon Age 2 everything he did post Origins is treated as done by an Orlesian Warden. I can't confirm this since I don't have such character.

Why are people trying to import their dead Warden into Awakening and then getting surprised when it lets them? If you didn't think it was going to resurrect them, why did you even try in the first place? Though I suppose Bioware should have done something where if your Warden died, it would import their decisions but still start you from scratch as the Orlesian character.

I've finished Origins several times and have yet to do a U.S. ending. I'm surprised that some aren't aware that there are other outcomes.
After I sacrificed Loghain, then Alistair, and did the ritual, I somehow got the all endings achievement without having to kill off my pc. All of my playthroughs after that have had my wardens going through with Morrigan's ritual, as I don't like killing off my crew, and I play every warden through Witch Hunt.

I haven't started DA2 yet, but I'm sure it will ask you if you want to import saved data, similar to what happened with Awakening, GoA, and Witch Hunt.Bvhurt wrote...

This is why i actually didnt buy awakening, i didn't want to ressurect my warden without knowing how (because from what i know you just appear like you never died), and i dont want to start from scratch so i just skipped it.

Actually, if you play the Orlesian Warden, you start at level 18.
If you don't mind possible spoilers, you can read about it here: http://dragonage.wik.../wiki/Awakening
If the link doesn't work right, it's toward the bottom of the page under the section "Importing an Origins Warden versus creating an Orlesian Warden".

Maybe there are several ressnections options, just take your pick : 1. Sacred ashes helped, maybe one of party member managed to get there. 2. It is said that leliana could ressurect you. 3. Morrigan coul ressurect you. 4. When you were at the fade after death you managed somehow to find a spirit or demon could help you, or a maker brought you back on some purpose. 6. Maybe a blood mage (jowan or somebody else) managed to ressurect using blood of the archdemon or smth.

Yeah, I also had my "WTF??!" when I imported my dead warden. I don't why BW didn't do the option to play with your decisions but with the Orlesian Warden.
Oh well. I'm not going to play it again.

this was my biggest peeve about Awakening and tbh still urks me big time...some US
I still wish there was some patch / DLC that would import your choices if you did the US to use with a new Orlesian Warden, or have some excuse as to why your warden's now alive (as tuto1 suggested)...hard to take Awakening seriously when Alistair sees his dead lover and doesn't even bat an eye...plus makes the US basically no sacrifice at all...ruins the entire import game thing all the way thru to DA2
just my two coppers

edit: eep! sorry to rez a dead thread...about...rezzing

if u died in origins you shouldnt be importing anyway.
That's the reason why you are alive when you import, i don't think BW added a block for this as you can import a character half way through the campaign.

just import the choices made, not the actual warden...my warden's dead and that's fine with me, but w/out importing the choices it's like you played DAO for nothing...might as well just skip the game and start playing with Awakening.

Ok, no doubt im jumping in way late here but if anyone would be so kind to tell me what is being said on this page. Are you guys saying if you did not kill your warden and yo come back your choices carry over, or if he/she died and you brought back your warden back they won't, or are you saying your choices don't matter regardless and they only work if you play a new warden? I'm so confused lol
