Similar quest stuck in my journal too. For choosing the kings...I talked to Bhelens man first..that quest appeared..then I talked to Harrowmonts and chose to help him..finished that whole quest..and Bhelens quest never vanished...another quest bug.

Ya, but that's 16 hours of play ago to redo all of the choose king path stuff... There has to be a fix for this other than starting over and hoping it works this time. That's just nuts... (I finished some games from start to finish in less time... Like Jade Empire...)

I also have the same problem NewYears1978 has. Not knowing enough about the candidates, I initiated both quests, and after completing Harrowmont's quest, I still have Bhelen's listed, which is now fairly impossible to bring to a conclusion, I'm sure. 360 version.

Thats because you were supposed to choose one to help... not both

We didn't choose to help both..when you talk to Bhelen's man even if you say no or that you need to think about it..that quest appears..then when you help Harrowmont that quest is stuck..it should be removed when you complete either side..it's a scripting error on BioWares fault..no big deal really..just would rather it not be in my journal since It's no good...

And I did not help both... I helped the prince.. Then at the turn-in choose the Lord... (prince is evil). Simply following the quest... I don't want the prince to win... But... This is uber-annoying.. I'm going to lose over 16 hours of work to go back to my 'choose lord/prince' save and change everything. Very not-cool. I was cruising right along and this has petered me out. A whole long weekend's worth of time down the drain... I've completed entire games in less time.

PLUS, I did it on nightmare, with never dieing (still 0 injuries). It's not like I'm on Hard or Normal just walking right through everything. Granted it's still pretty easy but... Shesh... Plus, who's to say it won't just happen again.

I also am seeing this problem. I did all of Bhelen's quests and then returned with the crown and gave it to Harrowmont and now it's both in my completed and pending quests in the journal. Don't think I got any exp for it too :(

Any word on a fix?

There is no BW fix but you can read my post and FORCE a plot advancement flag to fix it:

This is a weird bug. in all my runthroughs i always help BOTH and in the end can chose which one I want. I don't know why this buggs out for people but it does.

Thanks but the console stuff didn't work for me, in the plot point area there are no available plot points to jump to. The quest is still sitting in both my active and completed quest log.

Ugg... EA Support isn't helping either... They sent me a canned response about in-game "how do I" questions... Which means they didn't even read my question. That's not giving me much faith... Are they really this stupid?
:huh::huh::huh:

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting EA Games Support.

At first, please accept my apologies for any delay in addressing your issue. Please know that due to the release of this popular game, Dragon Age of Origins we are getting contacts in volumes comparing to normal flow. Though we are trying to get back to every one as soon as possible a little delay is inevitable.

The query you have submitted is of an in-game nature, and unfortunately, we can only provide help with technicalrelated issues (bugs, patches, et cetera). We recommend consulting our game forums for help with game play related questions. Chances are there might already be an answer to your question in our forums. Many veteran gamers visit our forums regularly, and they love to help their fellow gamers. Our official game developers and moderators also frequent our forums, providing further tips and resources. If you can’t find an answer to your question in our forums, we encourage you to go ahead and post your question there. You should receive an answer to your question shortly thereafter.

We also recommend the following online resources for in-game questions: Websites such as Game Spy (www.gamespy.com), IGN (www.ign.com) and Game FAQs (www.gamefaqs.com) offer information and walkthroughs on almost every game. Keep in mind EA does not review or maintain these sites.

You might also want to consult the official game guide for the title in question. While not every game offers an official strategy guide, most of the prominent titles do. Prima is the leading publisher of strategy guides. Their website is available at www.primagames.com. Prima’s guides are also available at every major retailer.

Thanks again for contacting EA support. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you ever have a question of a technical nature, you can also review our Knowledge Base site at http://support.ea.com.

Thank You,
Andrew
EA Games support.

So; they treated the question as a child that can't figure out something. NOT a mechanical game failure that it really is. They treated me with disrespect simply by not reading the question. If they had read the question, they should have understood this wasn't a "how do I" question but a "broken game" question...

I have since re-submitted the question in a more clear-cut format that hopefully I can get someone responsible to actually take 5 seconds to read through... I used to have higher opinions of EA's support staff but this one really drops that a ton...

So I loaded a save before the crowning. In this save 100% of the times I''ve tried it giving the crown to Harrowmont will not complete the quest but giving it to Bhelen will. I hope this gets fixed soon, as I'm not really interested in playing until I can do this quest correctly.

Well, per this site; I put in a ticket to the EA site listed in the games help thread with explicit detail. They refuse to address it saying it's the responsibility of this site to fix it and linking be right back here... So right now it seems everyone is just passing the buck and I don't expect it to ever be fixed.

Same problem here. Supported the prince up until the 3rd task. The plot line was a bit cumbersome. So, I late to realize Behlen was a tool. Then gave the crown to the Harrowmont. So, the quest shows as incomplete, and complete. Funny, that I have the same problem with the one, where you turn in the list of names found on the Memorial in Cardin's Anvil room, to the Shaperate. It shows completed, and incomplete.

It seems it isn't game killing though. As, I can still progress on the main Blight quest arc. (whew)

Yeah but, is it going to work until suddenly a few hours before the end I can't complete something because it thinks I don't have this quest complete?

That isn't a fix really; it's a hack... And requires the toolkit to boot... The majority of people aren't going to have that.

Not really a hack. Your not cheating, just deleting the the journal entry that is not needed becuase you already finished the quest, which is listed in your completed quest log as well. The toolset is a free download so there is no reason you cant have it. But , your right its not really a fix for the game just a way to clean up your journal after the fact. The only really fix will be if Bio fixes the scripting in the next patch....

damm I have a game stuck or something... I choose Harrowmont since the very begining of this exhaustive and long quest, I did everything, I choose to suppord Cardin, then I destroyed the anvil myself, talked to the dwarf companion to get me right straight to the cut-scene where I have to deicide who will be the king, I choose Harrowmont, then the fight with the prince, when I killed the prince and all his servants, there was a cut scene when I talk to Harrowmont and just for fun I choose the dialoge option in which I asked an statue for me or something... Harrowmont said that he will talk to the sculpters and then... the game keep on fighting stance... I mean, it seems like if I would be in fight yet... but no enemies, I can't use anything, can not talk to anyone... my party still standing in guard waiting for an unexisting enemy and the worst I CAN NOT LEAVE THAT F$·%& AREA because I cant interact with anything, incluiding doors -.- someone can help??

Glad to know it's not just me. I assumed the quest would be flagged as failed having defeated Branka and then choosing Harrowmont - which I did on a whim. Not a major issue, consider it ignored.
