Combat

Is combat ALWAYS played like it's shown on WQ? I was imagining the option to switch between 3rd and 1st person perspectives during combat and while in a town, with the option to send your PC to a different party member and the ability to pause and get a look at the field. If you ask me, it looks like Warcraft 3 with side quests and towns. From the previous videos and screenshots, it didn't seem like an RTS at all.
Can anyone clarify for me? This might be a game-breaker, here.

Actually, there is no combat in this game.
Correct. DA:O is entirely story-driven. That's what they mean when they say your choices will have consequences.

When you do enter "combat", you get to choose between options just like in a dialogue.
e.g.
You meet a kitten.
1. Walk away.
2. Attack the kitten.
3. Attack the kitten with mighty blow.
4. Scroll down for more options.

I know this has probably been asked before but I'm just too lazy to search for it.

Most people play Bioware games with the top-down perspective. Personally I like to be up close in the action, but not in First Person. Have you ever played any previous Bioware games? Its like those.

Can you play the game without switching between characters? I mean im sure you can but is it going to make it difficult if you dont switch between them. I'd like to stick with just my character if its not going to make it much more difficult.
It is going to make it more difficult if you are better than the AI. And you can play the game without ever switching chars (I think)

Kinda like Dungeonman? Awesome.
Oh lord. You have no idea how much of a relief that is. That would seriously destroy the game for me. Now, it's a great feature. Hell. Yes.

In the PC version (not consoles, the camera height is fixed there), you can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel at any time, except during cutscenes and dialogue. They don't demonstrate this perspective in videos because it doesn't show off the graphics as well as when the camera is zoomed in.
the camera height isnt fixed in the console versions if you click in the right analog stick(the one taht turns the camera)console ppl have three positions .. Close (most videos are seen here for console) like a step back .. then one tahts rather far back tahts similar to the isometric view of the PC .. but not as far back as PC 'can' go if they want (but probably pretty close to whatevers needed).. so console ppl do have a few options as far as camera goes .. and if you dont believe me go to like youtube and type in like "dragon age origins xbox 360 controls" and theres a video of a guy playing and hes going through the controls and about 1:30 in he switches the camera view.

As I've said many times before, that video is old and from before that feature was cut. This quote, from the lead designer confirms that the camera height is fixed:
On the Xbox 360 and PS3 versons of the game, the camera is at a fixed distance from the currently controlled character.
Everyone has a different "ideal" spot for the camera, so we chose the position that offered the best view of your character balanced with the best overview of the battlefield, based on our own instincts and focus testing. I find it quite a good distance, myself.
