I switched to hard from normal because it was kind of easy. I would like to know if there are any benefits or changes when I did this? Like will enemies drop more coin or better loot? Will I get more XP? Thanks to anyone with info about this.
normal to hard benefits?

I'd say most likely not....I noticed no changes when I did this. XP and coins and cost of items isn't really related to how hard the fights are or if enemies have slightly more health each.

Are you sure? I remember some items didn't drop off enemies unless you had it set to a harder difficulty in Dragon Age origins. It seems like it would make sense for more coin and better equipment but I want to know if anyone knows for sure if you get anything extra for harder settings. It doesn't make sense that I would get the same stuff playing on easy that I would get on nightmare.

There was no such feature in DA:O
Harder difficulties are just for a sense of accomplishment in both games (although there were two hard/nightmare achievements in the DLC for DA:O)
EDIT: And I'm pretty sure less items drop on harder difficulties for both games, may just be potions though.

This makes me just want to go back to normal difficulty. I don't need to feel like I accomplished anything extra and some parts are hard enough if I don't micro manage my group. I just thought I could handle a harder difficulty if there was some reward. If anyone has anything else to add feel free.

I feel guilty playing on normal. I just obliterate everything in sight. I toned down my party to only 3 members --none of which are a healer or tank-- and I'm still breezing through everything. I'm too far in to start over now though.

You don't have to start over to change difficulty. Just go to gameplay and change it to whatever you want.
