Basically the templars pulled off a frontal charge with no strategy whatsoever, and beat the mages with little to no casualties....
When the Fereldan Circle was the opposite, with the templars getting whooped down to the ground.
So.... swap enchanters between those two, and we got a balanced system, or what?
EDI: That was a joke.

Agreed! That line really made me love her even more. Her delivery of the line about not bringing the Grand Cleric into it was so well done, as well. The hiss was just... amazing. I love how powerful she sounded, no matter what it is that she said, but there was an underlying fragility, especially during that scene. Before the Anders booboo.CruserBoii wrote...
I didn't really care for Meredith until right before Anders blows up the chantry, she says something along the lines of "So don't BRAND me a TYRANT" that line absolutely made me love her. Her VA is super amazing, I thought she was one of the best-voiced characters in DA2.

More Knight-Commander love.

I like the mages and templars, but Meredith is better than Orsino.

Well, the Warden didn't show up to clean that mess up for a while. The Kirkwall circle had an epic level badass anulling them right from the start.

I was a bit disappointed that she was sort of possessed by the lyrium, though. It kind of ruined her. Not a lot, but a little. It would've been much better if she had just been really zealous in her own right, without crazy-magic-influence. That would have made her so much cooler, and it would've been really pleasant with a 100% human antagonist (from my Hawke's point of view).

She's a beautiful woman and all, but I have to say that she bested Anders in the "murderous psychopaths" category. Rather than his name going down history books for all generations to know, her name should've been plastered everywhere for her radical measures in dealing with mage issues and allowing the idol to corrupt her even further. Demanding the death of the Champion and all mages? Seriously?

Really? When did this happen?, I realised just as I had started my first playthrough that you saw her really early on in act 1, too ... but anyway.
I have to agree that Meredith was absolutely gorgeous. I knew the minute she asked me to hunt down those escaped mages that I wouldn't want to do it as she wouldnt' send me after Ella-type or Awakening!Anders-type mages but rather after the bat**** ones. And lo and behold...well, except the noble one. But he was just annoying.
And when Meredith demanded that if her way was so awful that we tell her a better way to handle the growing blood mage and demon problem and no one had anything to say, it really made me think. Idol or no, I'm not sure what else she could have done. Granting them freedom at that point wouldn't have helped with all the crazy going around, would it have?
Although I did find it a little annoying that my steadfast refusal to take sides until I had to - which the save-summary mentioned - meant that everyone assumed I was on Meredith's side. I guess that being neutral in a city where Meredith holds all the cards counts as you being on her side anyway. Well, except in Meredith's eyes, at least. She actually looked at my long pro-mage record.

She is strangley hot though I must admit. If she wasn't so anti-mage, (I could live with her crazy though), I would soooo want the option of romancing her. And she SHOULD have been in it since Act One, like Orsino. Act Three seemed to rushed for me.

She's a cruel, vicious despot who "thinks" she's doing good when really she's just causing the problems she fears.
Hawke can even allude to some event the might have caused her to feel this way - but we get NOTHING.
She could have been the figurehead for real conflict in the matter. We should have heard all these terrible things about her - and then meet her and she's rational and calm and introspective. She does what she does with great remorse - but she feels she needs to remain unwavering because of certain developments she's seen in the Circle.
She should have taken you on a walk through the Circle. Shown you that it wasn't a slave pit of doom. That would have driven REAL conflict. Yes, the mages are still "imprisoned" - but the lies of slavery are as bad as those leveled at the Chantry.
Playing Origins - there is no element of slavery in the Ferelden Circle. There are only a handful of Templars... most of it is just like Hogwarts. So unless they show me something different in Kirkwall - I have to imagine their circle is the same, only a few vocal upstarts are making it seem otherwise.
Meredith could have been at the center of all this... instead, she's turned into a Japanese Anime bad guy all flying into the air... flipping around... I was shocked Cullen didn't yell "AKIRA!" ((Of course, it was Orsino's job to turn into a big fleshy blob.))
She's one dimensional and poorly constructed.

Really though, I thought she was a great character. The voice acting and character design were also top notch.

So I just got her to confess her back-story to me (with remarkable little prompting. I just commented her mage thing seemed personal. I guess she wanted to get that off of her chest for awhile) and I've got to say...

I now have to reload a save to talk to her more.
