i like her. she is crazy, but i am sucker for cool mad characters. Flemeth and Sheogorath are on top of the list.
i wish i could know her backstory.

She's an interesting character, as much as a pain in the ass, and I'd like to get to know her better, but I just can't bring myself to side with the templars. Mages have a personal meaning for me.

I like her hair and her eyes.

That's all I've got, hehe

On an honest note, I wonder how she would have turned out without the damned idol getting into her hands. She almost...almost saw reason with one of her monologues during the last battle.

You really should try it on at least one playthrough. I know she's crazy and all but she's really good at being likeable to those on her side. And her back-story...I never suspected...Image IPB

I'm going to try REALLY hard to do this once. Really hard.

Her sister story was really what made me love her, though I really don't like how the idol was involved in the end. I would've prefered if Orsino was the Templar final boss and Meredith was the Mage final boss.

I might do it one day... Preferably after a major patch is released.
That it, if I manage to get over saying bad things to Orsino :crying:

Is her back-story really that good?

I agree with this statement.

It really is that good, IMO. It really humanizes Meredith. Even on my most pro-mage playthroughs I won't be able to look at her the same way.

You don't really have to offend Orsino personally at all.

Before. Side with the templars and Meredith gives you 'Best Served Cold.' Ask about why her mage issues are so personal and she'll tell you then.

I will. Then I'll dump her and side with the mages anyway (having the treasure of sensitive information on the enemy).

Maker, I'm a bad person :P

I HATED her.... but I LOVE her design! Though I question why HER massive armor is the only massive armor that looks like they did in Origins.... Aveline and all the Templars look like they're in leather with a breatplate now... but Meredith has truly FANTASTIC massive armor<3!

Also: Did anyone else have FFVII flashbacks when the blue-eyed, pale blonde haired Meredith runs that Maleficar through and sheathes her sword... EXACTLY like Cloud... at the end of Act2?

It's a conspiracy. Meredith blatantly abused her power to outlaw anyone else having awesome-looking armor like her.

I'm sure she has a net of spies especially for reporting armour-usurpers to her :P

I felt sorry for her. She was a victim under the influence of an evil relic that was messing with her mind. She wasn't fully responsible for her actions from the moment she obtained the relic. She was a puppet. So my choice was kill the victim, or slaughter a bunch of innocent mages - not much of a choice so of course I killed her. There are many victims in this game, hardly anyone was in control of themselves when they did something bad and evil, so it's hard to hold them responsible for anything. But then that also means it's hard to admire them for anything.

She did look very good though. I like how she was supposed to be tough and non-compromising from the beginning, but it's just awful that they had to victimize her with some silly relic.

I really want to get ahold of her complete final-battle dialogue. She starts off wondering why this is taking so long and then slowly starts to wonder if she's doing the right thing. Unfortunately, my stupid efficiant party killed her just after she asked something about why the Maker would side with the mages.

Argh, I love Meredith <3 she's such a great character. For the first time I saw her in game I thought 'Daaaamn, she's badass <3". Too bad that she ends up like.. you know, but still, I love her. She's so full of grace, don't you think?
(and, her VA is just.. <3)

Fanatstic Character, except for the entire Idol part.
A younger non idol compromised Meredith? My Hawke would tap that !

On my first playthrough, I hated her through Act 1 because of the way she was described, and was feared. Then she made her entrance in Act 2, and I was in awe. She had a commanding presence. She exuded authority.  I liked her.

If you notice when she makes her entrance in Act 2, she does not have the lyrium sword yet.

My Warden and Hawke have always been anti blood mage, so I certainly agreed with her in principle, but not her methods.  In Act 3, I felt sorry for her downfall.  She had to be removed as Knight-Commander, one way or another.

In her final battle dialog, there is a moment of sanity where she wonders what the heck she is doing.  But she's been under the influence of the idol for a long time.  It was too late.

It seems to me the idol is an 'amplifier' of negative emotions.  In Bartrand, it amplified his jealousy and greed.  In Meredith, it amplified her mage paranoia.

Personally, I liked the ending how both Meredith and Orsino go out, and it's not a typical mage versus Meredith or templar versus Orsino showdown.  Meredith, Orsino, and Anders all descend into a madness that cannot be stopped.
