Thought I'd drop a note in the general forums since not everyone here reads the "Tools" forums. The guys behind the popular mod sites "Fallout Nexus" and "Oblivion Nexus" have launched "Dragon Age Nexus" for mods and extra content. For those who have never used a Nexus site, they tend to draw in a ton of great (and ok, some rather..odd) mods and host them in a easily searchable manner, something  the social site is pretty much *not* very good at it.

I would rather this social site actually be USED, rather than the entire purpose be lost, but Bioware better get moving on getting it ready, because so far, it's not.

Thanks Visceral. Hadn't realised the nexus had a forum too, maybe I'll switch over to there as they're closing the old forums down and these ones are terrible.

*edit* This was a total joke post by the way >_>

The inadequacy of a paid web development team taking their sweet merry time to implement features imperative to a site of this nature, to the point where many of its sections will be superseded by the creations of unpaid fans. They were certainly ambitious starting this social site, especially with its integrated systems, but unfortunately they've bitten off far more than they could chew, and we're left swimming in a bug-ridden cesspool of broken functions.

Perhaps I'm merely expecting too much from official channels two weeks after launch, or perhaps they should use some of their profit from our pockets to pay for additional web support, because they've clearly shown their incompetence in handling it alone.

I less than three you, Visceral. Thank you so much. The guys at Nexus and the modding community make gaming so much more fun. *bookmarks*

The Nexus sites are priceless with regards to the content they provide. You say you have ulterior motives for posting the link, but that's okay. The modding community raised the Bethesda games to greatness, and Nexus has largely had a helping hand in that.

Whoa!

I checked it this morning when you first announced it and there were two mods. I checked it again tonight and there are already a dozen, including a nude mod!

This bodes well for the DA modding community.  Well done guys!

Great news.

I've been a member of the Nexus for a while now (since Oblivion) and it is by far the best site for community and mods.

Cheers.

Yeah, your loss.  TESNexus (Morrowind, Oblivion) and FalloutNexus (Fallout 3) are the most popular sites to find Mods for those games. I have no doubt that DANexus will be just as popular.

Why would you pass if you never heard of them?  Why not look into it?  You would really be missing out on the best source for Dragon Age Mods.

The Nexus sites have 1.25 million users, and all the best modders have always put their work on those sites.  Really, you would be missing out on a whole lot by not checking them out.

Just remember, don't be downloading mods you find here on the Social Site and adding them to your site to pad the modules available. If you do this, please get the author's permission to do so.

The reason I say this is that GameSpot did this with my NWN modules and hosted them on their GameSpot NWN module section without asking. As a builder, I only kept the modules updated on NWVault and the versions on GameSpot are the first renditions of those modules. They have NEVER been updated on GameSpot to the most recent and fixed versions and I do not have the access to update them there either.

So folks downloading my modules from GameSpot are still playing the early released version, as would folks downloading from your site without the author knowing they're hosted off this Social Site. If the author has updated their content on the Social Site but you're not keeping track of all updates of modules you may be putting on the Nexus without the approval or knowledge of the original author, it will create a split in the community. Some folks using the most recent and up to date version and others using out of date versions.

Just something to keep in mind.

If the uploader is not the author of the mod, Nexus blocks people from downloading it.  Case in point, The nude mod has been uploaded to Nexus, but it was not the author who did it, so very few people were able to download it before it was blocked.  Nexus is waiting for a reply from the Author.

Nexus is exactly the way you want them to be.
