When you get conforted by Merri'ls clan you get to choose 3 dialog options
pick "I'll take full responsibility" (or something like that and you guys will be able to walk away without hurting everyone
DONT pick "the keeper was possesed" or "back down or back off" or you will kill em all. we dun want poor merril sad!

Lol - you know, after you get out of the cave it autosaves and at first i picked "she had a demon inside" (or something like that but then i loaded the save and picked "ill take full responsibility"

Chose the "I take the responsibility" option when it pops up to keep from having to kill them. Also, NEVER EVER go back to Sundermount with Merrill in your party or the Dalish will attack on sight.

I took her there and not once did they attack. Odd. Oh well.
