If you came into this thread expecting me to go on a rant about some outrageous idea that Bioware would put out DLC with any real sort of answer to the questions we were left with in the end of the game, I hate to disappoint. I don't think we'll see any Hero of Fereldan/Hawke pairing, nor anything involving love interests. Don't get me wrong, DLC of that magnitude would be VERY welcome, but considering how rushed DA 2 felt, I expect similar quality of DLC. So, instead of getting my hopes high for something of that sort, I instead had an idea that I personally found intriguing - Varric DLC.
In between the annoying arguments about whether or not DA 2 was a success or failure, one opinion that seems to be mostly agreed upon is that Varric is one of the best things about the game. Personally, I found even the love interests of the game to be...kind of flat. There just wasn't enough character interaction to get as attached to characters as there was in Origins...but Varric benefited from being a key player in the game, and a charming one at that. Truthfully, I don't think there's been a dwarf character that's won me over quite like Varric has. I've just never liked dwarves. Blame his lack of stereotypical dwarf beard if you want, but I think his mixture of wit, humor, and kindness was bang on perfect.
So, that's all well and good, but how could a Varric DLC work? I'll tell you. Bianca's story. I recall some banter between Varric and Merill, where Merill asks what the story behind Bianca (his crossbow, in case you like...missed that) is. Varric says he made a promise to a girl not to tell, Merill is left curious. Now, maybe I'm a sucker for this sort of thing, but some background on Varric via DLC comes across as appealing, and marketable. I know I'd buy it, for sure, and I'd likely enjoy the heck out of it. It might not have a whole lot to do with the events of DA 2, but I'm just trying to be realistic. Even if mega-DLC was released, this would definitely be a profitable option to be released at some point in time.
Thoughts?
My Hope for Upcoming DLC

I'd love to play as an elf, they just look awesome in Dragon Age 2. That's all I got to say hehe.

I'll enjoy whatever they put out, as long as it's fun to play and good, but I am to intrigued about Bianca and Varric.

It wouldn't have made a big difference if Hawke was an Elf at all. I would have been fine playing one, though, Fenris looked the best out of all of them, even better than Zevran.

Just give me a good long quest where I can go kill evil with Bethany again. Although I do support getting Bianca's backstory.
To add to your idea how about after you and your group leave the courtyard and before your team disbands Varric tells them the story of Bianca. This narrative would be told in a style like in DA:2 only in another city in another pub. It would be long quest with cuts back to the group with each making a comment.

Another interesting option would be getting to see some Mage Circle uprisings in other locations. Would be cool to see the events taking place at the Fereldan circle, and getting some insight into what your actions caused all the way back home. Would be a nice tie in to Origins there as well.

I want to play Hawke, not other people.

I'd pay to get some descriptions for items.
I'm the one in the back of the bar, you can't miss me, I'm wearing "belt" and "ring."

It does feel like items have such less personality now... Each one in Origins had its own story. Now we see these strange "loot" items, and what are they? Eye candy? The descriptions were nice, but honestly very pointless for most.cheesewhiz wrote...

I hope that no matter what DLC they decide to do it will afford me the opportunity to run through the same 10 maps dozens of more times. Man, I just can't get enough of recycled content.

Bethany DLC. I hate to say it, but other than Varric she was the only other interesting person. Hawke wasn't even that interesting, and he was suppose to be YOUR character.

I'm hoping for a DLC where we get a world map, not just 'Kirkwall' and 'Just Outside Kirkwall'.
If this had been a D&D campaign, my party would have left me hanging by my ears at this point.

I hope for some more Grey Warden's stuff or story DLC that take place right after the end of DA2....I couldn't bare with cliffhanger ending.

I thing we will get post-campaign DLC. Remember the NWN expansions that redeemed the title? If Bioware care about sales at all, they better deliver some killer DLC

A great expansion could go a long way for DA 2. It's not a bad game on it's own, but I'm certainly not as fulfilled after completing it as I was with Origins. Also, there's far less incentive to play through again. With so many choices that force you in a certain direction, and constant recycled maps, there's little other than romances (which are far worse than they were in Origins) and achievements keeping me playing now. And that's really, really sad. I had 5+ completed saves on Origins, all over 60 hours put into them. I loved playing that game, even if I died a little inside each time I had to do the Circle or Deep Roads.
Fingers crossed.
