I've read that the requesite to being able to recruit your sibling again in Act 3 is to have Nathaniel Howe survive the endgame of Awakening.  I loaded what I believe was an incomplete playthrough of Awakening.  Does that count as "Nathaniel Is Alive"?

Wow, I didn't know this. Now I'm curious.

Well, technically as of the time of saving, Nathaniel was still alive... That's why I'm asking.

I always made sure that the Keep was completely up to spec and saved Amaranthine. The Keep is meant to weather a siege when properly maintained. Amaranthine is not.

EDIT: More reading reveals that this is the case only if you Warden'd your surviving sibling.  If they got Circled or Templar'd, you don't have to.

How do you "Warden" your sibling? I never saw an option for that.

I just ran into this problem... Howe died in the keep on my playthrough which I totally forgot. Now in act 3 I have no way of getting his quest and having the sibling join in the final fight. Is this editable using a save game editor?

ok, finished this morning. I was able to re-recruit my sibling just before the final battle. But I did back the mages and she had joined the circle. I don't know about the brother yet. But I am assuming that if he joined the templars and you back the templars the results will be the same for him.

Problem is my sister joined the Grey Wardens and to get her to join in the final battle you have to have done the Nathaniel Howe event.

I played a mage Hawke, backed the mages, and Carver came over to help out my side in the end fight.

That's not true. I didn't even know there was a Nathaniel quest until after I'd beaten the game, but Warden Carver still joined me.

Same as above. I didn't run into Howe, my import was a non-awakenings save, and my Hawke ran into Warden Bethany in Lowtown during the conclusion. Re-recruited.

I've seen hints of something like this earlier, and had rather high hopes something like that would happen. Thanks for the confirmation.

My import in this case is an Ultimate Sacrifice save. I "stumbled upon" Bethany during the Year 4 conclusion, and my feelings were a mix of mild disappointment that I couldn't "re-recruit" her there, as I'd initially hoped, and ... various other feelings such a meeting would inevitably provoke.

Edit: Sorry if this is considered necromancy, but I'd been looking all over the forums for any confirmation of this.
