Not in my game. She died and wasn't available to me during the rest of the fade.
What they mean is before you go in the Keeper tells you if a mage dies in the Fade, they become tranquil.
Merrill was killed in the Fade so technically when you came back she should have been a slavering idiot like Karl.

Umm, yeah. That was the whole point of the thread lol. It's fishy.

I'd have liked some explanation for it, even if a handwave like 'the mind makes it real and you weren't trying to kill her' or such. The way it happened was just abrupt, with no explanation.

Oh, sorry man haha. I kinda skimmed and I thought you meant that it did remove Merrill since she wasn't there for the rest of the Fade trip.
@jarnaez: Yeah that sounds reasonable enough.

I don't think it was so much any mage in the fade that is killed becomes tranquil as you were inside Feynriel's dreams and so killing his projection in there is functionally killing his ability to dream. It wasn't Merril's mind, so her magic ability stayed intact.
If that was true, then why did she warn us beforehand. It just doesn't add up...

And technically, anyone can become tranquil. Mages just have their magic removed in the process. So this would be an issue with everyone.

That's how I rationalized it as well, but it was poorly explained. I honestly thought that when two members of my party turned on me, I'd actually lost them for the rest of the game. I was pissed, but I don't go back to old saves on my first playthrough, so I just kept going.jarnaez wrote...

Then I get out and........ they're fine. The hell...?

I was worried about that when i did it. It doesn't happen, and I think its just a work around, like she was knocked out and pulled out by the keeper or something.

Yeah I was worried too, bringing Anders and Merril into it. Then when Merril turned on me I was horrified. Once dead I though that I would lose her as a mage. But she was alright, and I was actually a bit disappointed about nothing happening. Even though I would miss her if it would have happened.

Merrill wasn't in her own mindscape, she was in someone else's, so 'dying' in a dream merely made her wake up.

Just wondering, is there a conversation after you leave the fade with Merrill if she turns on you? I'll be very dissapointed if they just go on as if nothing happenned. I want to verbally abuse the **** out of her for betraying me.

Two people betray you in there and both get a conversation afterwards.

Is it Isabella or Anders?
EDIT: Or do you mean it is inevitable for 2 random companions to betray you in the fade?

Isabela will betray you if you take her to face Desire. Merill will betray you if you take her to face Pride.
No matter what? Even if they are at full friendship with you?
