Fenris betrayed me at Pride, I believe it was, in my playthrough.

I did think it really weird that he was perfectly fine, although there was a discussion afterwards about it...where he then claimed it was my fault, anyway.  >.>

No matter what? Even if they are at full friendship with you?

Haven't tested that yet.  I had Merrill at fairly high friendship at that point, but not full.   Isabela I've only heard about on spoiler threads.

I've had Aveline at full friendship and she betrayed me. I'm pretty sure they all do, in varying constellations.

Pretty sure the Keeper only says that a mage *like Fenryel* who is killed in his dreams will become tranquil. She's warning you so you don't accidentally do that to the poor boy. And so you know how to prevent the ohgodno abomination he'd become if he accepts possession.

Yes.

Anders and Sebastion won't betray you. Anders will turn on you if you sell the boy to the demon though.

My problem with DA2's Fade was that it was even more boring visually than DAO. Come on, that should be the most visually crazy and surreal part of DA, and it was just a building with a dark ceiling with a hazy filter over everything.

And lore wise, aren't you supposed to be able to see the Black City from any point in the Fade? Didn't seem that way in DA2...

i re-did this quest twice because i thought my companions had died, first merrill and then fenris! finally i searched the boards and found out their death wasn't permanent! there was a mixture of joy and anger after that haha Dx

Now, see, this is an actual plot hole, right here.

The whole "can always see the Black City" thing was one of the coolest parts of the Fade!

We were indoors during the Fade in DA2.

We couldn't see the Black City from the interior sets during the Circle Tower Fade Quest in DA1, either, only the exterior ones.

As I recall, even the "interior" sets in that fade seqeunce had no roof and gave you a view of the black city from certain angles at the very least.

I got to remember to look for that in my next go. I never actually knew you was supposed to see the Black City, cool idea.

I though we were in Fenyriel's dreams or something, and not in the Fade itself.

But all dreams are in the fade, right? Atleast that's what I thought.

Yeah. Everyone except dwarves go into Fade when they dream.

I don't think it was so much any mage in the fade that is killed becomes tranquil as you were inside Feynriel's dreams and so killing his projection in there is functionally killing his ability to dream. It wasn't Merril's mind, so her magic ability stayed intact.

That's how I rationalized it as well, but it was poorly explained. I honestly thought that when two members of my party turned on me, I'd actually lost them for the rest of the game. I was pissed, but I don't go back to old saves on my first playthrough, so I just kept going.

Then I get out and........ they're fine. The hell...?

lol i whent through my save files and whent in alone :P

i took anders (justice in the fade), isabella and varric which all except anders betrayed me but to me at least the characters you want to improve the friendship the most take them to the fade and most seem to betray you and ask for forgiveness.

managed to get +25 intotal from both within the fade and asking for forgiveness from isabella alone
anders was a +5 because of rivarly at the start and saying no to the demon was +10 friendship

My group consisted of Fenris, Merrill, and Varric. Only one to turn on me was Merrill.

I've got a better one. A continuity error I believe.

Merrill will say in banter to Anders, in non Dalish Elf Warden imports, that she met Duncan.

that should be enough for you guys to have it sink in.

That's not a continuity error. Even if you don't play a dalish warden, Duncan was still there, they still found the mirror, Duncan still destroyed it. I think whoever *would* have been the dalish warden died though and Tamlen still disappears.

If you take Anders with you he will turn if you try to negotiate with the sloth demon.

In the Lust area if you take Isabella she will turn. Same with Aveline except if Isabella is in your party too only Isabella turns.

You cant take Sebastian so....

In the Pride area Merrill, Fenris or Varric will turn. If Merrill is in your party she turns. The same is said for Fenris as well but only if Merrill isnt in your party. If neither Fenris or Merrill is in your party then Varric turns.

I took Anders, Fenris and Merrill and only Merrill turned on me soooooo.

At least one and no more than three team members do you ever fight. It just depends on which ones you take  and what decisions you make in the fade.

I do agree with the Op though. I thought the same thing about Merrill and almost didnt bring her. Anders totally slipped my mind though. :P I finished it thinking 'no no no no no no no no *insert explicative here*' When she wasnt tranquil I couldnt help but be a bit dissappointed.  I guess I was expecting something to happen there.

Edit:  Darn you keyboard! <_<

To be honest, since I had taken such a strong liking to Merrill I was just happy to still have her normal.

But why is it when we die in the Fade the guy doesn't turn all Abomination on us and kills a bunch of people?

If Merrill and Isabella can die and be fine why can't Hawke? And why can't you failing that mission actually lead to repercussions?

But you're right, I totally thought I tranquil'd Merrill during that quest.
