I can hear everything else perfectly, music, sound effects, but the dialogue is extremely muted. In combat dialogue is fine.

I've got dialogue set to max, with music and effects down at 5-6ish and I still can't hear a word that's being said.

Has anyone else had similar problems ?

This is very frustrating, has anyone else come in contact with this ? dialogue sounds like a soft echo in the background.

Same. All dialogue audio is very quiet indeed--far quieter than it should be, when I have to lower Sound Effects to 1 to avoid being overwhelmed by unwanted noise when I jack my external speakers up to be able to hear what's being said at all.

On my laptop, I might as well not be playing given how quiet the dialogue is.

Try going to the dragonage.ini file in your documents folder.

Open it up and look for UseSteroSound line. If it is set to =0, try changing to =1

That solved the problem for me. I got this advice in another thread re 5.1 sound. Many thanks to Boiorix for the fix (at least for me). Good luck!

Didn't work for me--conversation volume is just as quiet as before.

I have the same problem, if i set dialogue volume at 10 and sfx and music to 2, i get deafened by combat dialogue and still cant hear conversation dialogue brilliantly.
I've yet to find a decent set of volume settings that give me a good playable experience :(

Does anybody know of a way to boost the Voice sounds further? I tried manually setting it beyond 10 (As far as 100!) but it didn't work. :(

On laptop you might have to check the "force stereo" option in the game configuration program. Particularly if you use headphones/laptop speakers. Might help to configure speakers properly in windows too.

I've tried forcing stereo--the audio volume is unaffected. The volume is at such a level that I have to lean in and listen intently to catch anything that's being said--and if there's any other noise from anything around me, that's it, I've missed that particular bit of dialogue because it's been drowned out.

Bumping this for solutions as i'm having the same problem myself.
I have tried forcing stereo sound, and while at it i switched betwean both my headset and speakers to see if anything worked. (Both with Stereo sound on and off, and with a restart of the game every time).

So does anyone know any other way to possibly fix this?
