We really need to let Bioware know that this is not acceptable. The next place to start taking complaints is the Amazon.com page. If you have an Amazon account you can review the game over there and talk about the bugs and the lack of developer feedback/communication letting us know what they are going to do to fix these issues.

And NO them saying 'we're working on it' is NOT sufficient. This is completely out of hand and not fair to anyone who purchased this game, whether they have experienced these bugs or not.

If you are apologizing for Bioware on these issues you are not helping anyone, especially Bioware. They can do better and the customers deserve better.

I agree with everything you said.
I paid $60 for an unplayable game.
How can some people take Bioware's side on selling a broken product.

It was an accident though, and that's why I'm not raging at them. What bothers me is that the fix is taking far too long. A game breaking bug like this has to be adressed asap.

so once I get Isabela's max friendship, can't I just leave her out of the party?

I have used the method of FirstBlight and Modio and it has worked perfectly. I am not a tech expert but if anyone needs help I think I can give you a step by step.
When I used First Blight my attack speed was -65 :P

Here is a little tutorial on Youtube for using First Blight.

Thanks a lot Bioware I love being a game tester for you guys. My entry fee was 60 bucks :P

I am not sure if this has been posted here before, but it seems that you can avoid this bug by never having Isabela or Sebastian automatically removed from your party. If you remove them manually by using the screen where you select companions, their friendship buffs are removed as well, and you should be fine. But if you, for instance, enter the Hawke estate with them in your party, they will be automatically removed, but their buffs will not, only the effect. This is apparently what initially triggers the bug.

I have loaded an old save and been careful to always remove my companions before entering my home, and I seem to be doing fine.

I don't think we'll hurt Bioware's feelings, they're a big boy developer and have been for awhile with a huge publisher backing them. Selling a broken (and somewhat lazy) game for $60 dollars is not acceptable. The patch has taken quite a long time to arrive and it shouldn't have been there in the first place. While it might not even make a dent in their profits I'm also going to warn people on Amazon to wait to purchase Dragon Age until this game-breaking bug is fixed. It's better than doing nothing.
To anyone who hasn't let Bioware know if this bug or others affected you too, let them know now. If not we might get their version of an ODST.

You've made some excellent games but you really let me down on this one Bioware.

And an aside, I shouldn't have to become rivals with Isabela or Sebastian or any of my party members for that matter. Part of a bioware game is getting to know your companions. Having to ignore/create a rivalry etc. for the sake of not breaking my game is a huge problem.

Yeah I started doing that as well, and it worked like a charm, now all I get is "game file is damaged !" so have given up in the meantime in hopes of a patch.

What you say is true, but there is a moment in one of Isabela's mission's where she chases after someone and leaves your party for a little bit, then comes back (which is when the glitch happened to me). So unless you plan on keeping Isabela and Sebastian in your party all the time afterwards, you are screwed. I don't want either of them in my party, I just wanted to do their companion missions and get their friendship maxed.

Agreed. I was thinking of doing just that, but there is no reason I should have to make choices that I normally wouldn't make simply to avoid this.

I will look into that game save bug. Since I just did it today it probably hasn't happened yet. It just sucks that we have to deal with crap in the first place.

The buff went away for me when I added isabella to my party, exited char selection, then removed her from my party.  So you shouldn't need to keep them in your party forever afterwards.  I did get -5% at the end of act 2 because i had to reload once during the finale but got rid of it using firstblight.

It would be nice if Bioware gave us an update or two on how they're coming along on this problem. How long they think it'll be til the patch comes out or even a temp patch to render the buffs to zero until they get the whole thing sorted out. I mean a quick patch making all the friend buffs zero would not fix it but would at least let the games continue without a penalty til they fix the big issues and make it work as intended. Kinda like putting a bandaid on it til it heals properly.
But damn, this does suck. I ain't modding my save since there is a chance it will make it corruoted and unplayable and making me start over.
Guess I'm playing ME2, or Origins, or maybe some Halo Reach online til it's resolved. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood works just fine. DA2 is gonna stay on the shelf for a while.

That's the issue. Whenever you have to relead you will be penalized. Which blows for those of us playing on a higher difficulty or who like to reload to see all possible outcomes.

Where can you check your % stats by the way?

you only get penalized if you have the buff active without the offender in your party when you load the game. If you get rid of the buff by adding and removing the char then save you can reload as much as you want without getting penalized any more.I got the bug at the end of act 2 from isabella, got -5% from reloading, then in act three i got rid of the buff and didn't get penalized afterwards and I reloaded a ton. At least that's how it worked for me.

I used first blight to see my attackspeed %. It's the only way I know how. Someone in the newer/shorter thread on page 1 or 2 has a link in their sig to it I think. I just searched for first blight save editor and found it.

Maybe I can struggle through Act III then if what you say is true. I really would rather have it patched though.

I can easily keep track of the Isabela bug since I'm currently at that spot in the game, but I can't remember when I got the Sebastian bug. Since I got his Friendship I have probably reloaded a ton of a times without him in the party, so I've basically run my character into the ground without even realizing it. :(

The Sebastion bug is easy to spot since your damage resistance is negative. Mine got down to -20 before I ended up reloading and pissing him off to lose his friendship bonus. Now its just -5 but I'm still slowed by this Isabela glitch. The only enchantment I've found with a decent bonus is insane gold amount or I keep using Might of Sten which is like fighting with a broom stick in Act 3.

Forgot to mention that the Isabella quest in part 3 where you add members to your party 3 times seemed to be what caused my Sebastion bug to hit -20. Before going into the building I went back to the Chantry and told him off which seemed to lose his friendship bonus permanently.

Know what this is like? It would be like watching a TV season straight up until the last 5 episodes, and then having to wait 3 weeks to continue watching.

I can't seem to distract myself from the game. I've tried playing other games and it just doesn't feel right! I want to experience the rest of the game. :crying:

To me it would be more akin to watching a show and at the start of that particular episode's 3rd act, actors start to flub their lines, cue cards and boom mics can be seen entering the shot, audio drops out for extended periods, a prop guy can be seen in the background picking his nose, etc. When asked about it, the director says: "well, I MIGHT have the proper edit for you, MAYBE in a couple of weeks. Geez, It's not like a wizard does it (to paraphrase a previous post of Mr. Barret's)."

At a certain point, I'll lose interest and find something else to watch.

It seems this is being caused, primarily, by Isabela's Thumbs Up buff (max friendship). If you're seeing this and don't have Isabela's friendship (and by dont i mean never had) then please post and let me know. Otherwise, we're aware and looking in to it.

I only used Isabella once after unlocking her friendship, and that was many hours ago in my game. Everything had been going fine until tonight. I got in a random fight in Lowtown and noticed that my attack/casting speed was suddenly shot; literally moments before that in a previous battle, my attack/casting speed was fine. Since the bug"triggered" though, it's been getting progressively worse.
