I've recently finished the game with a force mage and since I almost started a battle with gravitic ring (that spell that slows enemies down) I thought it had something to do with that for a long time... it looked really awkward when my Hawke had the same speed as the enemies she had been slowing down.

Now, since it seems ta have something to do with Isabella's/Sebastian's friendship buffs... it makes sense. Especially since I like to switch back and forth between all my companions and just run around with them to hear as much party banter as possible. Aaagh, next time I'll give Isabella away and send Sebastian to Starkhaven! (Or gain their rivalry, but I feel like taking my frustration out on somebody.)

Well Finnegone i´m past the point at which i ran into the bug first time ever and so far the game still works perfect for me. So far the measures i have taken at least seem to work. As for why some people have no problem with the isabella buff.......... i´ve read over at the pc topic forum that the isabella bug might be related to dlc content that gives you the mabari. Which would mean that without the extra dlc from signature edition isabella doesn´t bug you and with the extra dlc she does. I am playing with the dlc so for me that would make sense.

Sigh...I have the slow glitch now as well. It started last night during our foray into the Deep Roads for Nathaniel. I had just finished up another mission where I took Isabella along and suddenly my Rogue is attacking painfully slow. Act 3 has been a bundle of glitches so far and it's slowing my enjoyment to a crawl as well.

I'm going to try going back to just before I brought Isabella along on the Best Served Cold missions. Everything still seemed to be working at decent speed then. It's disappointing, I always switch up the team to hear the banter and get a feel for playing everyone and every class. Looks like it came back to bite me in the Deep Roads.

This sucks. I preordered the game in December but I can't play it because my rogue attacks to slowly to fight. I have trouble fighting normal enemies unless I use assassinate, which has a 30 second cooldown.

When will this be fixed?

So anyone know any ways to avoid this? I just got max friendship with isabella, should I just not use her at all? Also do you have to use a skill point to get the max friendship boost, or is it given to you automatically after getting max friendship with her?

It's automatic. And if you want to avoid the bug, then the best option woudl probably be to permanently keep her in your group. And also don't make friends with sebastian, unless you want to permanently keep him also. Apparently the bug subtracts from your attack speed each time you remove Isabella/Sebastian (if you have friendship buff).

At this point I've just had to stop playing. This glitch in particular has essentially ruined my game. I'm close to the end, but my awesome, speedy rogue has become so slow she's essentially unusable. Since the bug is applied every time I save w/o Sebastian or Isabella (both of whom I have at full Friendship) and I don't use them much in my main party I am pretty much stuck and the problem will only get worse.

I really wish we could get an idea when to expect a patch for this and the other issues. I feel sad wondering when I will actually get to finish the game. Will it be this weekend or a month from now? I just don't know. =(

Don't know if you already have but click on my signature for a solution that will allow you to carry on playing with friendships for both Isabella/Sebastian and without needing to have them permanently in your party.

This is really one of those issues that should be fixed inside of 48 hours. I mean how many games recently (i.e. this generation) seem to have a patch by the time you get them home. Bioware seems to have swung too far in the opposite direction. They don't need to compile one omnibus patch for all known bugs a month after the fact. Fast track emergency bugs, and work on a larger patch for the nitpicks later. I want to be able to recommend this game to customers again in good confidence, at this point in time I cannot.

I did see that, and thanks so much for posting such an in-depth review of the problem and options for working around it. Unfortunately, at this point most of my recent saves are pretty deeply infected. I didn't realize how bad the probem was until recently, but looking back my character has been pretty slow since the beginning of Act III.

That, and it's just not feasable to only save when Sebastian and Isabella are in my party. I'm assuming autosaves will also cause the problem, and when traveling and before big battles I need to be able to make saves. It's just an irritating problem and this combined with Merrill's various glitches have killed a lot of my enthusiasm. I want to be able to play without working around the problems, so I guess I'm just going to have to either wait for the patch or start over and hope the patch arrives by the time I get to the glitches the second time around.

Hey anyone suffering from the slow glitch check your damage resistance too because my friendship with Sebastian is doing the same thing to my damage resistance that Isabela's friendship is doing to my attack speed.

True, this is a game breaking bug and should have been fixed yesterday.

Well... look on the bright side, at least you now know the cause of the problem and can avoid it!

This is ridiculous how many people have experienced this game ruining glitch and that bioware has not fixed it yet. I do not understand how none of the play testers experienced this problem when it seems like all that has to happen is becoming friends with Isabel. This will definitely affect my purchasing decisions with future bioware games, making me more likely to wait a year or two after the initial release to purchase an 'ultimate edition.' Then i won't have to pay so much for the DLC and I won't have to wait for game ruining glitches to be fixed. I just paid sixty dollars for a game but I can not play it. Extremely dissapointed.

There is more to it than just becoming friends. It is to do with who is in your party upon loading. There are possible solutions to avoid this problem (apart from not getting their friendship), but I do agree that this should have been fixed already as it is one of the most frustrating bugs I've ever encountered in a game.

Ok, all that has to happen is becoming friends with Isabella and switching her in and out of your party a couple times. How had none of the play testers done this?
If there wasn't sufficient play testing time because they had to have the game ready to ship by March 8th then they should have play tested it after the game became gold so that they could solve some of the bugs by the release date with updates and patches.

Its not just simply switching her in and out the party. Go to my signature for an indepth explanation of the problem.

Good work with the explanation, it might help get the problem fixed. My point is that this is very common and an easy situation to occur. It should have been caught by the play testers, or at the very least fixed by now

What do you mean about the damage resistence? Do you mean defense % because my level 22 war only has 5% and my level 6 mage has 17% with less cunning.

Is there any way to reverse this? I can't continue as it's gotten very bad. This is really the only game breaking bug in this game, so it should recieve the complete attention of BW and be worked on primarily to patch soon. No other bugs prevent you from playing the game...

This should be honestly patched by this week I just can't figure out why it isnt already I know coding is extensive and I get all of that because I have worked in that environment and I hope they come up with something soon. I had to finish the game by putting my mage on slow mo auto pilot while I used the other 3 characters to fill in the gap. That's not how I wanted to play the game. Hawke is the guy and I should be in control of him 90% of the time.  I hope Bioware gets this fixed much sooner than later.

If S0ulS7orM and RubiconI7 are correct about the source of the bug, I'm willing to forgive it...mostly. (I did amateur dev testing on a game myself, a few years back). This is the sort of issue that would easily go unnoticed if you were powering through playthroughs of the game, looking for larger glitches. However, I'm a habitual save-reloader and take my time on every quest, decision, and oftentimes conversation my characters go through. Even if you're looking really closely, this sort of thing is easily missed.

That said, I am just as upset over as any other poster on this thread. Hence the "mostly".

Question, is it possible that this is just happening on the signature additions. Or is it both signature and regular additions. I was thinking of going back to gamestop and trading in my signature for a regular addition. They will more than likely look at me like i'm crazy especially since i used the download codes but I don't want to replay a game where i have to avoid characters just to avoid a bug which it seems is random.

I been struggling with this bug since I got to Act 2. It got to the point of that video someone posted a couple of pages back. Luckly I save a lot and found a save where this was not happening. It didn't fix the problem but my game is now playable. I am now in act 3 with a half slow warrior. Honesly this is a gamebreaking bug, I have repeatly gone back to previous saves because of it. Thanks for posting the temporary solution but this is still crap. I pre-ordered before the urgrade date and did every single sidequest in act 1 only to get a game breaking bug. I honestly wanna tell people don't get this game, It's not fun having to watch to see if and when your character is going to slow down and hope you have a save where it's not happening as bad. I know someone from bioware said they were looking into the problem, but are you going to fix it? This is mostly from my frustration but It seem like the players did the work for them, they have a general idea where to look.

Not trying to bash the game. I was having a GREAT time playing until this. Please fix soon.
