A lot of people are posting here and seem to be unaware of the cause of this. However I believe I have discovered it. Click on sig for full explanation or add my gamertag XcS S0ulS7orM if you would like me to walk you through it. Happy to help all of you having this problem.

i just recently discovered my saves are bugged too. I am in Act 2, about to finish offered and lost. I am going after Isabella now so I am at full friendship w Isabella now. I realize that my rouge hawke is getting slower and I lose Dex points ( I think she lost 2 dex pt because the dagger doesn't 'fit' any more)... Please BW fix this!! A slow rouge makes it very difficult to finish the game...

UGH, this is happening to me too. At first I thought an enemy had cursed me with a slow spell, but it didn't go away, instead it got worse. I was happily playing a mage on the reg edition of the game with both exiled prince and black  emporium DLC. I'm mid Act 2 with Izzy's friendship meter maxed and over 60 hours of time played. Oh man, do I wish I had rivaled her now...

This bug is beyond frustrating....<_< all I want to do is play, but my poor mage has become pathetic in battle. I hope a patch is coming soon today.

And for the record, I'm a chronic save/reloader. I like to explore the different conversation options whenever possible before playing through a scene for keeps.

Your lost dex points could be from removing an armour set as all rogue sets give bonus dex points.

Has anyone tried using a Maker's Sigh for this? Maybe the character "reset" provided by the potion would reset the negative stats.

Actually that was one of the first things I tried. Used those potions on the main character, Isabella, and Sebastian to no avail.  I even tried it numerous times with them in the party, not in the party, after a game load with them in party and without, etc.  No effect.  The bug still persists.

Something I'm wondering is if they'll even be able to patch it to retroactively fix games where the bug is present. I imagine once they find the cause it'll be (relatively) simple to keep it from happening, but how do they reset everyone's attack speed and damage resistance back to normal values in games where they've been dropped so ridiculously low?

I would hope there is a basic attack speed value based on class and level that should never be overwritten. If they can just remove the reason for the reduced speed the base value should remain.

The problem then becomes other sources of boosted attack speed, such as item sets or equipment, and I think there's at least one rune that boosts it.

They would go off the base value.

I posted this in another thread too but I will put here too for more to see:

Just found some more info that I haven't seen posted here. Apparently the problem happens when Isabela is forced out of your party. (ie: entering home). This causes Isabela to leave the party but does not deactivate her friend buff. Now evertime you load without her, it subtracts that 5% but fails to remove the buff. That means you keep losing 5% every time you load. [Clarification: you would lose 5% when you load and then if you save that, another 5% when you load again after and so on]

However, I just tested it out and if you add her to the party (let the party appear) and then remove her again manually, it will remove the friend buff from Hawke as normal. This should allow you to play from then on without her in the party and not lose speed everyitme you load the game.

[Extra note: I have not verified that the loss occurs with loading, I am using the info posted here to make that assumption. It may be with party swaps. Someone experiencing the Sebation version of this glitch could verify since it affects a visible stat: Damage reduction %]

Edit: No. Even removing the buff manually does not help, since apparently even if you save without the buff active, the instant you reload, the game has reapplied it.

I completed the game with a nerfed rogue days ago. My build was completely focused on DPS/critical chance and damage and amongst all the speed boosts I also had the raw lyrium rune for major speed boost. All of that didn't matter until I used Haste of course and then my char was stupid fast.

A shame I didn't get to enjoy my character at his best but I don't intend to restart when this bug is fixed. Not happy that it happened in the first place mind you, the DLC had better be worth it when it comes.

Buffs (and in this case debuffs) are handled as percent increases and decreases which means the attack speed of a character has a set value for it's class/level. Let's call it Z

The only question is weather the attack speed buffs are additive or multiplicative. So if you have a 2 50% increases and a 30% increase. Is it....

A: (((Z x 1.5) x 1.5) x 1.3) = final attack speed.

or

B. (Z x 2.3) = final attack speed.

So resetting a char to default values should be doable, and then the buffs from other sources should start stacking off the new value. Ideally I'd like to have Isabella's friendship bonus fixed (and sebastian's as well). It's a double dose of awful for an attack speed based WARRIOR to now be slow and frail.

Please bioware fix this soon... you can't sit on this one a month you are losing consumer confidence by the day, both first hand and by word of mouth.

Unfortunately it'll be awhile. They need to fix the bug, then send it off for approval before they can implement it. Add to that that Patches are always on Tuesday, and it'll be awhile before we see a patch I imagine.

Jesus, this is definitely a game-breaking bug.

Apparently this also can happen with Sebastian as well. Unfortunately, you can not regain any percentage of attack speed that you have lost. However, the only way to avoid/stop this is:

1) Don't befriend Isabella/Sebastian.
2) If you do befriend them, don't put them your party.
3) if you do put them in your party, ALWAYS place them in your party before every save. If you load a save in which they were not in your party, you will receive a -5% hit ever time you load it.

Bioware needs to patch this, ASAP.

So, what, this has been an issue for at least a week, and they haven't fixed it yet? Forgive my irritation ('cause I'm loving the game) but how the eff could such a game destroying bug get past the testers? It's now impossible to play, and I don't want to throw away 40hrs of gameplay.

I have Seb and Isabela's perks enabled, and as every filesave I have is after I befriended them, my entire character could be trashed.

STOP SITTING ON YOUR ARSES, BIOWARE, and fix it... (even though this should never have reached retail copies)

Vital stats: 360 Elite, Signature Edition - Seb's Achievements also haven't unlocked, and after being KO'd, Hawke does not gain an injury.

It does really disturb me as a console customer and massive DA:O fan how long this bug is going unpatched...considering I put up with Fallout: New Vegas. I understand only too well that bugs can be tricky (see my last post) but at the same time developers have to consider that their customers paid $60 (or $70 including the bugged DLC) because they thought they were buying a worthwhile product. If it's no good, customers won't bother again. As much as I enjoy(ed) the lore of Thedas, I'm not interested if this game is an unplayable, glitched-out mess. DA:O's bugs were forgivable and, while easily abused, not game-breaking. This...this is something else.

The reason a patch is probably taking so long is that they want to release a whole bunch of fixes all at once. Not to mention they might be trying to find a way to actually fix the "broken"(for lack of a better word) game saves. It's probably easy to fix the problem before it happens, but fixing it after? Not so much.

Edit: Also, is it possible that Varric(or any companion perk that gives a bonus) contributes to the problem as well? I ask because his friendship bonus gives a bonus to attack speed as well. Not to mention all the other companions... I haven't read all the threads, and am curious if this could be the case.

Agreed. I love Bioware and I adore this game. Bugs aside I have been enjoying every moment of DA2 and remained a staunch defender of the game. But my Dragon Age experience, into which I've invested 40+ hours, is ruined just on the verge of completion. Thanks to Isabella and Sebastian my rogue is a fragile, shambling, useless mess.

I made befriending the companions an early priority and so all my saves back to early Act II are broken. Even without the slow glitch I've stumbled into several other big bugs with my imported Warden's relationships and experiences, my romance with Merrill, almost everything I've done has ended up in one big error. I desperately want to finish Dragon Age 2, I want to start my next play-through with the assurance that I'm not going to discover Hawke's adventures are irreparably broken at some later time. Pleeeeease patch the game sooner rather than later. If not for little old me, then for all the good will and positive feedback it will engender.

And moreover, please play-test the hell out of Mass Effect 3 so this painful situation doesn't happen again. I don't care if you have to push it back a month or two, it would be worth it to experience the game without the fear of game-breaking glitches.

I disagree with that sentiment. Whoever playtested this game DIDN'T DO THEIR JOB properly. So as thankful as I will be if this issue is revolved (I do NOT want to ditch my first, proper playthrough), they don't deserve any positive feedback for fixing a broken product.

This is by far the wost bug I've ever encountered in a game on console, made all the worse by the high profile of the game, and BioWare's rep (i.e. brilliance) as a dev.

I understand being frustrated people, but relax and show some patience! I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason that a number of testers didn't get this during testing... at all... for any of them... Not a single one... ... ... I think I was going to make a point here, but it got lost somewhere along the way.
