One of the things that irks me on this is the complete lack of communication from Bioware. I'm sure they're fixing it, but they're aren't exactly being prompt, and honestly it feels like a slap in the face to someone who has essentially purchased bioware games on day one for years. Ah well, I guess I just feel like whining. There will be a patch at some point, but frankly little in the way of any sort of apology from the company. I guess it doesn't matter they got their money for the game and dlc so who cares in the end.

The problem is this is a gamebreaker that should have been fixed ASAP.

It didn't happen during my mage play through, but it did for my 2nd run as a warrior. I think I noticed it after getting the Champion's breastplate from the high dragon. From then on it started to get quite slow. Annoying but at least I was able to finish the game with it.

I hope it doesn't show up for my rogue run but that won't be for awhile so maybe I'll be safe.

It didn't happen on my first run either, but that was because I hadn't developed a friendship with Isabela and she skedaddled after Act 2.

How come there is a thread titled "X360 major issues list" on this forum, but it makes no mention of this problem? It's like they don't want to acknowledge that this bug exists, and it has me a little worried.

If you look on the first page of this thread, you will notice a a BioWare employee posted in regards to this problem.  They are looking into the problem.

Roland's wife borrowing his logon:
Yes, but that was nine days ago, and there hasn't been any communication since then, not even to say "we're still working on it." That's just plain bad PR.

This is kindof a buzzkill to know that being friends might earn me a screwed up game.

It's honestly a shame you can't return new games to gamestop for a refund because frankly at this point I don't think it's going to get fixed, and if that's the case I'd rather just get my money back so I could spend it on a game that doesn't render 30 hours of progress useless due to a bug and require me to play a very specific way just to avoid said bug.

I believe Gamestop will let you trade for another game, even if they don't do refunds.

I am an Xbox 360 owner and it has made the game pretty much unplayable. How can the playtesters miss this is beyond me. I really hope they put out a patch soon but in the meantime I will hold off on playing anymore till a patch is released.

At this point I'm much more concerned with the (hopefully imminent) bug fix being retroactive through previous save files. It's one thing to fix the bug so that it never happens again. It's quite another to have it alter individual save files without adding a mechanic to detect what your stats *should* be and resetting them at some point during gameplay.

It reminds me of achievement bugs (which we're also suffering from). In any other game I've seen where there's a bug preventing an achievement from popping, once the bug has been fixed you still have to go back and earn them all over again. There's never a retroactive fix that takes a look at your save and automatically pops what achievement you should have had.

I just hope Bioware takes this into consideration. The bug has gone on long enough. It would just add insult to injury to have to abandon ~30 hours of gameplay even after the bug has been corrected.

Honestly, at this point Bioware has lost a lot of respect and fan support over this issue. We're not talking a minor bug that pops up in 5-10% of playthroughs or even one major bug in an otherwise perfectly functional game. This is one of several game-breaking issues that renders a $60+ game at the worst unplayable and at best unplayable in the way it was intended (At this point I'm occasionally forced to be an unsympathetic jerk Isabela and Aveline, just to avoid their associated friendship bugs.)

My hope is that upon fixing these issues, Bioware will also provide some manner of apology and incentive. I'm not sure what form that should/could take. Possibly making the first major DLC continuation free or offering a no-cost upgrade to a collectors edition of Mass Effect 3. Something to show they understand the irritation their broken product has caused. As much as I love Bioware and their history of games (and I do, even now,) having been forced to beta test this game at my own cost has really tarnished their image in my eyes.

My warrior had to be abandoned after more than 105 hours!

SIGH.

If this game isn't patched after next week I guess I'll start a new file...and ditch my +70 hour game. That, or take it on casual.

My full enjoyment of this game is pretty much ruined either way, though. When I finish it I know I'm not going to feel an awful lot of excitment over it, as I might have had this bug not forced me to shelve the game.

and that is exactly why i stopped playing the game at the moment. If i didn't enjoy my initial playthrough of a game that I own, i have rarely ever gone back to it. I really want to like DA2 and give it multiple playthroughs. I just hope they can fix the issues before I move on to other games.

Yeah, this is pretty much how I'm feeling about the whole thing too. I love Bioware games & enjoy spending stupid amounts of hours exploring their fantastic worlds, but now I just feel "meh" :( I want to be playing the game again, not having to keep checking the forum in the vague hope that maybe, just maybe, there's some new info about a fix.

P.s. As for the retroactive fix thing, in theory it shouldn't be too hard as it'd just mean resetting the base value back to zero. Then the buffs, once the bug is removed, will add & remove correctly.
Oh, and I've played a few games where the devs have fixed achievement glitches retroactively too, off the top of my head; Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, complete on Realistic cheev, and the Rookie cheev that didn't pop...as soon as the patch was released you loaded the game & they both popped, assuming you'd earned them of course ;)

I just noticed that Isabella's friendship bonus is listed for my Hawke, even though she isn't in my party at the moment, so does that mean I have the bug?

Yes.  Every time you load a game save without Isabela in the party your attack speed will decrease by 5%.

The bug is unavoidable if you befriend her.

I want a refund. Seriously, I'm in the middle of Act 2 and I'm not sure I want to continue playing if it's only going to ruin the experience.

One word: inexcusable.
