I've searched and know it isn't actually possible to change my forum name directly, but from what I've read, if you delete your BioWare social account you can set up another one (effectively changing your name), or have it revert to one of your already made EA names.
Is this true?

I think you should be able to do that by making a new account and deleting the old one, true. But I think you should ask EA support or whoever is in charge, to put all your registered game promotions (DLC, registered games or anything really) to the new account. After the process is done, you delete your old one 7 days after you made your last forum post. That's what I heard at least. I guess confirmation from a BioWare site admin would be a more reliable source
