first of all proceed like lolhaxx once you have done so get the tool artmoney and open your savegame and search for a given armor part (for example if you are a mage and got the champion mage armor you have to search for gen_im_arm_cht_lgt_champion (without the .uti) artmoney should show one result ... now you just have to change the value. for the warrior armor just change gen_im_arm_cht_lgt_champion to gen_im_arm_cht_hvy_champion

Lolhaxx, are you sure the fake armor text value is right? When I used artmoney to change the text value from gen_ to fake_ and reload the game, the armor is gone. Which leads me to believe either you can't get like this or that the value is wrong. Is there anyway to find out what item spawn names are?
When I have time I will get the fake armors using the console method which requires me to start a new game and then I will use artmoney to see if fake armor values are correct. I would much rather prefer an easier way to do it or if its actually correct.
Thanks
Edit: Could you send me your save file Lolhaxx? It would be much easier than doing it myself as I don't have time. i will then try to find the value for the fake armor. I will send my email to your pm.

Search for fake_im_arm and you'll see the entry for them. It's supposed to be champ not champion for the end lol. My bad.
Edit: Confirmed to work for the fake armor. Now I can hang with the cool kids and not look like an idiot with my mismatched armor.

Obviously the champion armor is the most sought after items atm. But I find it useful without overpowering yourself too much earlier. For things like, adding runes for use earlier on. Stuff like that. Or, just straight getting the matching model rogue weapons earlier, make the game runthrough faster.

This thread is a lifesaver. I have been on nexus and the forums looking for a way to make my mage not look like a mage. With the way I am playing my mage it is so annoying walking around in robes. You're a champ.
Edit: I did not realise I made a pun. A bad one.

Ok, so this works great with any item obviously. And while it isnt exactly as easy as a console script, it is an easy way to spawn yourself any items in the game. Which is fairly nice. You can jump in the GFF editor and check your bags on an act3 save to get the values for insertion of any item you have. Just to play around I threw some endgame weapons and such on a new warrior and it worked perfectly.

Indeed. Gives us something to fool around while waiting for a toolset.

Cool it works now. Finally resolved. It is your bad. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work. Just kidding. It is an easy mistake to make.

Lol. Yeah I hated the pansy mage robes. Now I feel like THAT badass Hawke in the trailer with a spear looking staff and the Champion mage armor.

I'm not sure how complete it is, as I did mine myself, but I would assume they work fine.

So I've been trying and trying repeatedly to get this working, followed the directions... the whole thing. Seems to be working just fine for other people, but somehow, not for me.
Finished Birthright, no armor. Edited rewards.gda again so that the armor would be rewarded upon completion of "Family Letters" (Carver's gift quest). Aaand... nothing.
http://i158.photobuc...i/errrrrrrr.png That's the edited rewards.gda.
If someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong and what to do right, thank you in advance!

So I've been trying and trying repeatedly to get this working, followed the directions... the whole thing. Seems to be working just fine for other people, but somehow, not for me.After the armor didn't show up after arriving at the Kirkwall docks, I edited rewards.gda again to have the armor pieces show up once Birthright is completed. Trying to "Save File As" had me confused when where after typing the file name the button should say "Save" it instead read "Open", but I did so anyway and the "Save File As" window closed. To be safe, I extracted the edited rewards.gda (as an excel file which seemed to be the only option?) into the folder as described in the directions on this post.

Just noticed that too. When you select 'Save as', the only subsequent options you get are cancel and 'open', so instead of going with 'save as', I just went with the regular 'Save' and then copied the rewards.gda to the override folder.
The only other problem I initially had with it not showing up was because I accidentally used the code for the rogue armor on a warrior character.

... No dice. I must be doing something wrong, but I have no idea what and it feels like I ought to be headwalling. Please, Bioware, not another playthrough wearing those ridiculous robes.
EDIT: the "light armor" .uti file names were copy-pasted directly from the first post into the same item slots as depicted in the image I linked above, so I don't think that's what I'm doing incorrectly. I wonder if I'm not allowed to edit the quest rewards for a quest I already have in my log as "active/incomplete" ?

No, that's not a problem. I did that to get my champion armor while in the middle of a quest in Act 2.Wicke wrote...

I've actually found a much easier, quicker way to add in any item you want directly to your save game using the GFF Editor.
Before you start any editing make sure you create a backup of the save you will be editing.
Open up the GFF editor and open the save you want to edit; this should located in:
C:\\Users\\UserName\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\Characters\\CharacterName\\Saves\\Slot_Number
The highest Slot_Number folder should be your most recent save.
The file you actually want to open should have the same name as the save you entered in the game, for example:
TheHangedMan.das
Now expand the following sections:
SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR
SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR
SAVEGAME_EQUIPMENT_ITEMS
Now you should see a list of all of the items equipped on your player character.
For example, as I have already edited in the mage armour for my character I see:
0 gen_im_wep_mag_sta_act1_01
1 fake_im_arm_cht_lgt_champ
2 fake_im_arm_hlm_lgt_champ
3 fake_im_arm_boo_lgt_champ
4 fake_im_arm_glv_lgt_champ
As an example lets change the chest piece.
Expand 1 or whichever slot has a cht (chest piece) item.
Now click on TEMPLATERESREF
You should now see an edit box a the bottom left with the item's name inside.
So lets for example pretend the item was called: example_im_arm_cht_lght_awesome
Simply type in the item you want to replace it with, such as: fake_im_arm_cht_lgt_champ
Now click on save at the bottom left and your item should be replaced.
Do this for all the items you want to replace and then click on Save As from the file menu and overwrite (or possibly just create new one?) your save.
When replacing a piece of gear make sure you replacing the appropriate type of item. For example; make sure you are replacing your gloves with the champ gloves and not the boots or helm.
Other items have slightly differn't naming conventions but they ussually follow this rule:
cht = chest piece
hlm = helmet
boo = boots
glv = gloves
Sorry this post is a bit rushed but im going back into the game to play with my new armour now

What are the exact file names for the three (well I guess six) full stat armor sets?
