We have reason to be upset, this is Bioware, who apparently now are going to be one of those game developers that churn out sub par games.

Why do so many people HATE the fact that DA2 had recycled the locations over and over? The Witcher 1 did that and a lot of people seem to love that game.

Agreed. To be fair, I've been playing it since Thursday and I haven't found anything that's made me think "this game is crap". I've found a lot of good things. Haters just have nothing better to do than complain.

Would they feel better if there were no BioWare, or no video games, at all? That's the question they must ask themselves.

Well, I've been playing a couple of days now. And honestly it's getting a bit boring.

I can play the game for maybe 1 or 2 hours at a time before I have to put it down and do something else. It's just not holding my attention the way origins did.

Really I've said this before but it's not a BAD game, but it's not great. What it seems most people are angry about is the fact that Bioware have sold out.

Well, let's see.
They reused the same 3 maps a bajillion times.
They gave enemies a bajillion HP and called it 'Nightmare'.
They changed the classic RPG combat to a spazzy over-the-top garbage version to appeal to idiots.
They oversimplified the inventory system so 80% of the **** you get, you can't even use because your companions' armor is locked.
They caused the fall of the Roman Empire and control the weather.

Why? Let's say that neither boulders gate nor origins ever existed. DA2 is the first bioware of that style that you have ever played. Are you still as disappointed?

The problem is, is that there will always be zombies who will find something to complain about. I mean, seriously, prime evidence that evolution doesn't exist. You think people would learn that they don't have control over how the game is going to turn out. Yet they continue to launch nukes at the development team. And they're so ungrateful. Bioware gives you an awsome game, yet you throw it down because it isn't the same as the other. If you kept getting the same exact phone every time you get an upgrade, would you be happy? No. Because it's paying more money for what you already have. If bioware made DA2 exactly like origins, we would be paying money for what we already have. I played origins. I loved it. I'm playing DA2. I love it just as much. People need to learn to enjoy games as they play them. Go into the game with a fresh mindset. Forget about Origins. Play DA2 for what it is, a whole new game. Don't compare it to Origins. In fact, don't compare it to anything. If you learn how to do this, I promise you will enjoy it even more.

Who said us "haters" wanted an exact copy of BG or DA:O? That is a strawman argument.

Also, your reasoning is abysmal. "If this better stuff never existed, you would be happywith this.." ..Sure.. And if I didn't know cars existed I might be happy with a horse! Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

Any argument that requires me to "forget" things, or ignore things or turn of my brain is one argument I will never be able to take seriously.

I'm beginning to see that the majority of whinnes and complainers are PC gamers. PC Gamers yearning for the "golden age" of rpg gaming - the way "it was meant to be." Well, time moves on - we're not stuck in 1993. The days of games being designed for the PC are over. Either change or get left behind.

It's not a matter of PC or console gamer.

Even for console standards, the quality is worth a bad XBLA game.

Change for the worst? No thanks. Id rather leave Bioware games instead. :D

With the premise that I've yet to play DA2 and that I still don't know whether it will be good or not...

You cannot judge something in a "vacuum" - you need a frame of reference, and you'll compare every item (whether it is a movie, a book, a game), consciously or not, to what you already know. If your experiences are narrow and limited, your judgement is less reliable. For this reason, the guy who has seen 50 movies in his life, all made in the last 5 years, could probably think that Transformers 2 is the pinnacle of entertainment, while the guy who has seen 10.000, including the milestones of cinema, will likely know better.

Note that a wider experience doesn't automatically mean good judgement  (you also need a sharp critical sense, culture, etc.) but it's a good start.

Comparing a game to previous, successful and beloved games of the same genre and developer is absolutely reasonable. This doesn't mean ALWAYS EXPECTING THE SAME GAME; it means expecting the same level of care, depth and challenge, even if the gameplay changes, the camera is no longer isometric, etc.

Those who are complaining (trolls aside) obviously feel that these things are not on par with Bio's previous titles. I still don't know if I'll agree with them or not, but that's another matter.

lol this is the dumbest thread ive seen so far.. since when a 2 is not a SEQUEL???
all ur post saying that is not a sequel is BS TC..
Putting a 2 shows its a sequel not a spinoff..
If bioware wanted it to be a spinoff the my not make it Dragon Age:Rise to power or something..
But by putting a 2 makes it a Direct sequel to DA:O

Do u see Call of duty putting a new number behind and makes it a third person shooter? no..
coz its a SEQUEL and sequel usually follows the route of its predecessor..

GIve me an example of a game that has a new number behind and IS NOT A SEQUEL.. plz TC, give an example besides DA2..

Final Fantasy. Dragon Warrior iirc. The list goes on, but there are game series that aren't direct continuations of their predecessors.

Regardless, I rather enjoyed the game. It's not as good as DAO imo, but it was certainly not bad. The re-use of zones was annoying, but also understandable as the story centers around events in a more localised area. I loved the combat and art direction, but things like that are highly subjective. I'll be interested to see where the expansion goes, as it seems this game is more of a buildup to a larger plot than a full plot in itself.

a very messy way to state your argument, but okay. I'll play your game.
You don't get what I'm saying. I want people to get away from that
mindset. I understand that sequels generally are expected to live up to
their predecessors. From experience, I learn that this rarely happens.
How do I enjoy the game then? I forget about it. Instead of saying,
"this game isn't as good as 1", I say, "this game is fun." I don't
compare it to it's predecessors. And I think you tripped while you were
climbing down that ladder of yours.

You can't get people out of this mindset do you know why? Because DA2 was advertised as a sequel, therefore it will always be a sequel. When people think Dragon Age 2 they think the sequel to DA:O. You can't cange this. Your not Jesus reincarnated to change the mindsets of millions of people. Stop being arrogant, get rid of your hubris, and think.

I never thought I was Jesus. I wasn't reincarnated to change everyone's opinions. I posted a thread that expressed my views. Apparently, I'm the only one who ever does that on these forums. Arrest me! I'm a terrible person for being annoyed at all of the complaints. It all just gets old, that's all.

No we do - with out credit cards. No credit card = no sales.  Sale < 5m = rethink. Rethink = some hope they'll actually make a good game next time.

Why should I be grateful? I paid them money for this game, they did not give it to me at below cost price, or as a gift.

No, it could be 60 hours of new locations and a new story and new encounters, without completely throwing out the previous formula. Plus loads of work on balancing (especially between classes), bug removal etc. A bold refresh would have been nice too. A complete redesign on a tight budget is NOT nice.

whether you realize it or not, you will still keep buying their games. Everyone will. Don't try to say you won't.

Sorry buts thats just stupid....

You always should have higher expectations than for the first game. Sequel means , more better, more polished and not shorter, total different and rushed.

Stop defending Bioware/EA they failed horribly and they should now get the full "hate". Only when people fail things can change to the better. If you let them ass with this game they thinnk they can do anything and you still would buy it.

and what do we all know from experience? Sequels rarely live up to their predecessors (or rarely please the fanboys of the predecessor)

I wonder if you were able to keep a straight face when you came up with this thread? Are you seriously trying to say that this is a good game?

Look at my post history, I never started posting on the forums here before DAII came out, the reason I started is because I came here to see WTH WENT WRONG WITH THIS GAME! Now I don't normally troll or belittle others opinions, but you have got to be wearing blinders if you cannot see the issues with DAII. I don't even know where to begin.

Anyway the answer to your question is no. After playing the demo, I would have passed on this game and not looked back.

I see the issues. I overlook them because I LOVE the game enough to do so. It has a great storyline. It has great replayability. The characters are very deep. The combat is completely awesome. People like you, however, look at all the negative aspects. I just look at all the positive aspects.
