Hi everyone. Please use this thread to post any issues you're encountering that are SPECIFIC TO THE PROLOGUE & ACT 1 of the game.

While we're making an attempt to capture the various issues posted in individual threads, this will give us a nice central place to begin collecting and addressing these.

Beginning the Deep Roads Exploration quest, I give him the 50g, maps, 100% quests (up to this point) are complete, all rumors etc. I speak with him, conversation goes thru to where the mother interrupts, I tried all three choices, but all leads to the same result: autosaving and having to redo the whole convo with bartrand again ad nauseum. I am absolutely unable to get past this and it is rather infuriating. I have reloaded my file, saved a seperate file and loaded that, restarted from the xbox dashboard, restarted the console, everything physically possible, this is definitely a major issue


edit: i also tried installing the game to the xbox and it does not fix the problem.

i completed all quests except the wayward son quest. in darktown i had to defeat the thugs to get a a item to completed the quest the item didnt fall so continued on to try and skip it but it wont let me do the deep roads expedition without this quest completed and i tried everything but i cant find the item so im guessing its a glitch and need help on how to resolve the issue or do i just suck my losses and start the game over?

I'll copy and paste this from the thread I made.

I just started up my second playthrough and during the scene after Flemeth has saved Hawke, there is a scratching sound over her dialogue with Hawke. Anytime any other character speaks, it doesn't happen, but whenever Hawke or Flemeth speak, it does.

Not really a big deal, just thought I'd report it.

The quest Dark Epiphany, related to Origins save doesnt start.

The Guide says:
"Only appears if you are using an imported Dragon Age:Origins save file where you played the Warden’s Keepexpansion and chose to spare Avernus."

And:
"Walk along the path leading west from the mainWounded Coast entrance until you are attacked byBandits close to a camp site. Loot the Dead Messengerto begin the quest."

But the bandit attack doesnt happend and i did spare Avernus in Origins. :S

Bait and Switch quest is bugged . the smuggler's chest in the abandoned house is un-lootable meaning i cant complete . many friens have this issue

During the companion quest birthright, there is a line of traps in the final room where you meet a Master Slaver. If you see the traps before the battle starts, then defeat the enemies you cannot disable the traps thus forcing you to set them off. Conversely if you do not see the traps and a party member steps on them they go off releasing a poisonous gas during battle.

The only way so far to disable the traps I've found is to force all party members into a hold pattern in the previous room. Bring your Hawke into the room with the Master Slaver, have him talk, then have all bad guys come into the previous room and kill them all. This avoids the rogue seeing the traps before battle, and allows you to disable the traps after battle.

This should be fixed.

Robbers at docks aren't respawning so its impossible to do the clearing the area quest.

Just chiming in to say I had this problem pop up on me as well. I didn't see any way to disable it when it was discovered, and by then the Slaver had started his dialogue.

I have had problems with the "First Sacrifice" quest. Specifically, the door to Jethann never unlocks thereby preventing me from speaking with him. I may have attempted to open the door before triggering the quest. I have restarted and am making sure not to attempt to open the door until after the quest begins.

I'm with you MR. Spades I cannot get the Deep Roads quest to start. I've done everything. All side, secondary and rumor quests, and it just keeps saving. I have 2 friends who are at this spot and got past it with no problem. Ima try to return this tomorrow to see if it's the disc

"The Way it Should Be" Quest sequencing error, maybe.
After Aveline is told she is to be the new Guards Captain when Hawke leaves the room, all team member stay with Aveline and then trouble:
Hawke talks to the guard they saved and his speech is directed to Aveline - who answers from the office!... next a Quest marker appears over Aveline (seen from outside thru the wall) but when Hawke enters to talk the marker disappears, Hawke leaves and marker re-appears... Hawke re-enters and marker disappears...Hawke starts to leave and just at the doorway on this 3rd exit --- cut scene starts with Varric and Aveline talking about the Hanged Man ... everything works fine from there on.
Note: I've done this three times, and it happened every time. Also "The Way IT Should Be" quest is already in the completed section before the Quest marker first appears over Aveline.

i have also done every quest possible and want to do the deep roads expedition i have 50 sovereign, and the maps but every time i click on bastrand he doesn't do anything( with quest icon above him) he just says "just bring varric here" and i cant do anything. i tried going to varric but he just says random stuff......

Me also. I sent EA tech support an email and chatted wth them but they are, as expected, useless.  Does anyone have any updates on this? did anyone just replay up to that point? did it happen again? I'd hate to replay 20 hours just to have it happen again. Good new is if its a common problem they should do something to remedy it.

I believe it is The Way It Should be...Avalines second quest, the one regarding the corruption of the guard captain.

Did not take Avelene with me to the lowtown fight...fought the bandits, the jumped guard talks to an invisible Avalene and she responds?

Perhaps this is caused by me having her in my party when I went to lowtown, went into the hangman, changed party up without her in it, then went to finish the quest? Would be nice to know so that I do not make the same mistake twice.

I think it's the Wayward Son quest that this happened in... You have to speak to a man somewhere at night who then tells you to go to a certain warehouse. What happened for me is that the journal entry stayed at the previous description - the one telling me to talk to that guy - and the quest marker stayed over his head. Fortunately I could still proceed with the quest (but only after I read a walkthrough online because coming back to the quest after a few days, I had no idea what I was meant to do next) and after getting past the next stage of it, the journal did update properly. However, the quest marker is still over his head despite the whole quest being finished now.

I just realised that the quest worked. But the bug was that the quest info didnt show until  after i was done with the quest.

Got a service from the Rose but instead of me picking the concubine it launched me into the immediately after scene. I exit the room and every "worker" still has the quest symbol. This never vanished during Act 1, have yet to go there in Act 2.

Varric has to be in your party of 4

I have had this problem as well on both my playthroughs so far.

And also if you use Thrask to find Feynriel during the Wayward Son Main Quest he says to look for Samson at night "near the entrance to Darktown" yet Samson and the plot flag for this quest are in Lowtown.

In Lowtown, near the entrance to Darktown. Though this isn't clear since the area transition is just labled "Leave Area".
