Ok, so I complete the first quest in Act 3, "On the Loose", and suddenly Merrill has a "Questioning Beliefs" quest. Completed that, she shows up at the estate, and then moves in. So I was able to complete the romance, just in a long round about way.

I had a glitch during the prologue part, regarding the conversation that takes place when you first meet Aveline and Wesley. After the conversation ended... it started again from the beginning when you first meet them. After the same conversation ended for the second time, I ended up with plus 30 points friendship with Bethany and plus 10 rivalry points with Carver.

In the act of Mercy quest, my husband went in and got the mages to agree to go to the circle. So, he comes out of the cave and the other Templar (not Thrask) attacks him and my husband kills him. When it ends, somehow, Thrask is also dead or disapeared or something. So, in his quest journal, it says he has to talk to Thrask and get him to take the mages back to the circle, but Thrask is not there and the mages are all standing outside of the cave and my husband is now stuck because it is a main quest and the only one unfinished, so he cannot go on the deep roads expedition..

Beginning the Deep Roads Exploration quest, I give him the 50g, maps, 100% quests (up to this point) are complete, all rumors etc. I speak with him, conversation goes thru to where the mother interrupts, I tried all three choices, but all leads to the same result: autosaving and having to redo the whole convo with bartrand again ad nauseum. I am absolutely unable to get past this and it is rather infuriating. I have reloaded my file, saved a seperate file and loaded that, restarted from the xbox dashboard, restarted the console, everything physically possible, this is definitely a major issue

edit: i also tried installing the game to the xbox and it does not fix the problem.

The only way to get past this is to restart the game with a new character. Do the Deep Road requirements as soon as possible, then do the other quests. The only problem is that I did a character with the warrior and I got stuck again!!! 20 + hours wasted! The first time it worked I didn't do all the quests and left some uninmportant ones open, the other 2 times it failed is when I did all the quests...weird.

Ok, I've completed every other quest in Act 1 and am trying to trigger the Deep Roads Expedition. Problem is that I can't continue on until I complete the Shepherding Wolves quest. So I go to Lowtown at night to meet Sister Petrice but she is nowhere to be found. NOWHERE.

So, I check the game guide. I can't complete Shepherding Wolves unless I finish the Blackpowder Promise quest. The problem there is that when I visit the Wounded Coast, there is nothing to find. No enemies, no undiscovered caves or chest or items of any kind.

Is there any way to salvage my game without loading an old save and losing the last 10 hours of progress?

Anyone else have this happen?

I encountered a very interesting "freeze" today on my Xbox 360 version of DA2.

I just got Varric into my party for the first time, and ran into the runecrafting guy in the north part of Kirkwall. I then made my way to the Red Light district. There's a lootable barrel in the northern part of that area. I looted it, selected Loot All, and the game "froze".

I say "froze" because technically, the game did not halt. Music played, and the game animated at a rate of about 1 frame every 30-40 seconds. It also slowed the Xbox menu that pops up when you hit the guide button on the controller. It took about 2 minutes for the Xbox menu to display, and even when it did, it did not register input.

I think I may just put the game away till it's patched a few times :(

My Xbox is a replacement of my launch Xbox from 2005. I got the under-warranty replacement from MS in 2008 I believe. It's the model with the chrome CD drive. Since then I've installed the 120gb HD. DA2 has been installed to the hard drive.

Wayward son glitch, I am stuck in darktown, but I cannot unlock the next step.

Same here, played as a Warrior, couldn't loot the mob that drops the key for the door you need to go through. After you kill him, he won't show any loot sparkle - leave the area - come back in - he sparkles but un-lootable.

Tried loading an autosave, went back to the quest, same thing happened.

Decided to restart the game, this time as a Rogue, got to the quest again and EXACTLY the same outcome AGAIN. Absolutely game breaking bug, this really needs to be fixed ASAP, because right now this game is a £40 coaster to me.

This issue is present in all parts of the game but figured I'd post it here.

After using the Tempest spell, the buzzing electrical sound it makes is present in the area you used it even after it has dissipated. Kind of annoying.

Black Emporium Mirror of Transformation glitch. It was stated that if you changed your preset or any of your facial features in the Black Emporium that your characters families faces would adjust with your new features. This is not happening for me when using the Mirror of Transformation. I switched between my custom face with a dark skin tone to another preset with a light skin tone and no change in Bethany. I changed to the default Hawke face and still no change in Bethany at all.

I am using a Female Hawke, Warrior class. Level 5. 360 slim.

What is the status on this, Bioware? Its pretty damned ridiculous that a bug of this magnitude that has affected so many people hasn't been fixed yet.  Very disappointing. Don't you have any type of QA/Beta process to catch this? After a year and a half of anticipation, this is not the quality of the product I expect to see introduced. The Got ot Market strategy trumped quality, huh?

it makes me laugh that the only "fix" they have achieved is the DLC achievment fix.... instead of actual gameplay issues... way to go... because your gamer score is so much more important than playing the game...

In all two out of three of my playthroughs, the prologue cutscene with Flemeth as the dragon repeats itself, or you have to fight the same group of enemies again. That happened on the mage and rogue playthroughs, but not the warrior one.

Persistent Gore no longer working properly. I have the persistent gore option check marked in my options so that it stays on. However after I downloaded and re-installed the Exiled Prince DLC the persistent gore option doesn't work right anymore. After battle after only a minute or so in game time, the blood spatters on my character and party completely disappear. The persistent gore option states that the blood spatters are to stay on until a change of armor or clothing. This is no longer happening.

Current character is femhawke, warrior. Party make-up is Aveline, Isabela, Merrill. Level 8.

Staff of Parthalan and Fireball have stopped working (no damage when activated). The bug started after the majority of Act 1s quest and has been persistent since. I have tried reloading, clear cache, experimented with every type of enemy, and still zero indication of damage or hit. I have just started the deep roads with the mage and hope this some how fixs itself... If any one els has a similar problem I hope Bioware patchs it asap.

It seems minor in comparison to the other reported bugs in this thread, But for some people the boots of the fallen are unobtainable, the chest in the undercity simply doesn't have them.

Ok, I figured out what the problem was.

This was NOT a game breaking glitch. Afte some more exploring of the Wounded Coast, I found the cave with the Tal-Vashoth that advances the quest. The glitch is that the Hub Map tells me I need to travel to the Wounded Coast, but there's no quest marker for me to follow when I actually get there. It wouldn't bother me except that with every other quest in the game there is a quest marker and I'd simply gotten used to following the marker to the next objective. Funny that there wasn't in this case.

During the companion quest birthright, there is a line of traps in the final room where you meet a Master Slaver. If you see the traps before the battle starts, then defeat the enemies you cannot disable the traps thus forcing you to set them off. Conversely if you do not see the traps and a party member steps on them they go off releasing a poisonous gas during battle.

The only way so far to disable the traps I've found is to force all party members into a hold pattern in the previous room. Bring your Hawke into the room with the Master Slaver, have him talk, then have all bad guys come into the previous room and kill them all. This avoids the rogue seeing the traps before battle, and allows you to disable the traps after battle.

This should be fixed.

I had this same problem. Could not select the traps to de-trap them so ended up setting them off.  Haven't had a problem with other traps so far.

I'm getting a glitch when I try to save Bethany and turn her into a Grey Warden at the end of the Deep Roads expedition. Apparently, I go into a dialogue with Anders and he tells me I can save Bethany by taking her to some nearby Grey Wardens.

After the dialogue, I appear back at the Deep Roads. there is no map or quest markers in my map and I've been running around the Deep Roads with nothing happening.

I understand that the game must be experiencing a glitch or bug because there should be a string of cutscenes after the dialogue with Anders. This is a serious problem because I cannot continue the game. I had to reload a previous save two hours earlier and choose not to take Bethany with me on the expedition.

I've run into a Act 1 bug that is basically making the game unplayable.

Attempting to do Bait and Switch, up to the point i am supposed to enter Danarius' house. I go to Hightown at night, with 3 companions(Aveline, Varric, Carver), and speak with Fenris. Conversation goes as should. After the conversation i assume he is supposed to be added to party(guide says so). However it does not add him. As he is not added, I cannot enter Danarius' house, and can no longer proceed to acquire Fenris at all.

Have attempted to revert to a previous save, as well as seeing if completing a different quest will work. Neither does.

Cannot continue game.

On top of this, I might as well list another bug I've run into, though less gamebreaking than Fenris:
After combat, my party stays in combat. When the last enemy of a group is killed, my party members, sans Hawke(whom I control), all face exactly the spot where the last enemy died, and continue to activate ability's and act/react as if the enemy is still alive. I have found no way around this except to run far enough away from the spot the last enemy died to "warp" my party.

Please advise if possible Devs or Forumites.

"Secret Rendezvous"
Two Glitches

I'm in Act 1, headed to the docks at night to do the "Secret Rendezvous" quest.
Two glitches to report.

First
Battle failed to initiate
I entered the area and went straight at the group of men marked on my radar.  They milled around looking at me; I could even talk to them and initiate npc dialogue.  I had to almost completely leave the area to hear "Intruders!" and then the battle began.
So I reloaded and tried again.

Second
Character revived off map, accessed currently-locked area
I went and eavesdropped on the raiders' conversation.  The battle began.  During the course of battle, one of my party members died (it was Merill, but I doubt if that has any bearing.)
After the battle, when she revived, I noticed she wasn't around.  I hit right bumper, and aha!  She respawned under the map.
I ran around in the bizarro off-map underworld for a bit . . .and then surfaced in something called 'The Qunari Compound'.  I couldn't talk to anyone, and the way out was barred.
I was forced to load my last save.  Again.
