Destroyed all five. Even if I would have taken one or read one it would say quest complete not keep it as an open quest in my journal...so yeah glitch....and a ridiculous one at that. I saved right before destroying the fifth one so i am going to keep trying reloading it and hopefully it will one time update.

ive read this same problem several time on this forum and its happening to me, ..the end of act 2 quest "Demands of the Qun" has a real real big issue you have here. when u acend to the high tower and meet Merridith the high knight, and the leader of the order of the mages, and continue up the stairs, on my game, after reloading over 30 times and trying every pt set up available to me, the same things happen,i kill the mobs ..then the game, strangely has a "loading" come up, which it usually just cuts to the next scene, and it reloads the first metting with Merridith, and at that point you are screwed cant leave and cant continue, this is a huge problem that as these forums show multiple people have had the same issue, i hope bioware acts fast, ..i know at my job if i sold some one a product of mine, that had a major flaw in it, most likely i wouldnt have my job to long after the matter, please come up with a patch, a resolve, asap, nothing like dropping 60 bucks on a new game to come across a error that prevents u from completing it....

I didn't know I was having an issue with Merrill's personal quests until getting to Act 3. I didn't even notice the "Mourning" quest auto-completing. I did do the "Mirror's Image" quest and retrieved the mirror, and I've been able to romance her without any problem. At the beginning of Act 3 she was waiting for me in my Estate and I was able to confront her about not moving anything in from the alienage.

One of my companion quests was to go talk to Merrill ("A Talking To"). When I approached her she was doing the crying bit in front of the mirror and talking about how "she's gone" and "she can't go back to the Dalish or they'll kill her". After that point the mirror disappeared. When that scene ended I talked to her again and the conversation with Varric from "A Talking To" was going on. At one point she referenced the mirror which wasn't there anymore.

I'm having the Merrill bug too. Her "Consoling Words" quest never showed up and "Mourning" seems to have auto-completed which apparently makes the quest from the Herbalist undoable. Pleas get this fixed asap so I can play my game again.

Don't know if this is specific to act two, or can happen anywhere, but I'm experiencing a glitch where all of my main character's attack animations (attacks & spells) are slowed as if under the influence of a negative status effect, but the effect has carried over across multiple encounters, and only seems to affect the main character. Re-loads don't work neither does reverting to a previous save. Nothing like putting 25+ hours into a game and having your character nerfed through no fault of your own.

I had that same problem and only during Act Two. I also had an issue with my characters arms locking up as if he was in combat mode. Weapons were sheathed but he continued to hold is arms out. This continued when I entered new zones and when I was in cinematics (it was interesting to watch the other characters talk to me while i was hunched over like a gorilla). I solved both of these by saving and restarting the console and reloading. That seems to be the "ultimate fix" for some reason

I'm having Merrill quest (Mourning) issues as it auto-completes stewing me out of a romance and the herbalists quest!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

WOW... 33 hours down the drain!! act ending glitch claims another victim! I cant get into the keep to finish act 2. not to mention Varrics companion mission was glitched... can y'all fix this GAME breaking glitch... I guess I need to start my mage now.. but thats going to glitch as well -.-

During the conversation with the Arishok while trying to locate the viscounts son, after completing the conversation it starts from the begining again.

Your 60 bucks in Italy are about 95 US $ ( siganture Edition cost 69,90 Euros )

Forbidden Knowledge - Tome in the Viscount's Keep.  Although I could have sworn I found this tome, it flags on my map.  When I destroy/read/take it I get the exp for the quest, no demons spawn and the door locks me in the room.  Unable to exit the room at that point.

Sketchy on the Details - After encountering assassing in at the Docks, I have yet to encounter any more.  I thought I've searched everywhere, but I encounter no more assassins.

Blackpowder Courtesy - This one has stopped me from advancing the game.  I have to speak with the Viscount again informing him of the Arishock's reaction.  The Keep is flagged with two current quests on the Kirkwall map: this quest and Aveline's "The Long Road".  I enter the Keep and there are no flags on my map.  In fact there is no Viscount in his chamber.  I can't even activate "The Long Road" with Aveline.  The only marker on my map is for "Forbidden Knowledge" which bugged as I indicated above.

Not related to this act, I have on several occasion have a disc read error.  I'd play the game fine, then suddenly in an area transition the game would kick me out for the read error.  I checked the disc and it's fine.  The game loads up, play for 5-10 minutes and bam - hit with the disc read error.  Other games work fine, and some evenings the game play without a hitch but since release, there have only been 3 evenings where I haven't had the disc read error.  I've got 28 hours into the game!

>>>I just checked an older file save from about 23 hours into the game.  A lot of things are different in my my 28 hour game.  The Viscount Keep missing a lot of the Guards in my game.  Seamus even in the Keep either, and I have the Forbidden Knowledge and there is no Tome marker on my map - so I did find the Tome in the Keep!

I'm playing the Signature Edition.

This happened to me as well. Some other related glitches I found relating to this quest:

- The dialogue skips out or just doesn't load against some of the assailant groups. For example, it cut off mid-sentence during the Antivan part.
- During the Hightown attack, all the Denerim assailants had persistant map markers over the positions the entire fight... which stayed on the map after the battle was over.
- Another glitch... just reported to Sketch after the update came on screen, went back to Hightown (Night) and it shows on the map that there are still Denerim attackers.... ran over to the spot and it cleared up.

I had problems with the "Sketchy on the Details" quest. I had one encounter with Sketch and the assassins, killed all the assassins and Sketch ran away. The Journal said to find him somewhere in the city. I looked in every possible area in day and night, and outside the city and never found him after that. Never completed the quest.

Tarohne's Tomes quest also didn't work for me. Never completed it.

Isabela's got your back is a sustained ability for when you have her at 100%
friendship. It increases Hawke's and Isabela's attack speed by +5%. This ability
and the Arishock are unrelated (Once you get this ability you can still make
choices in the plot to prevent her from assisting you with the Arishock.)

While it's worded somewhat confusingly due to GUI restraints, this is how it's meant, and it's not a bug.

I finished Act Two on my second playthrough today, and the Arishok's attacks were hitting me from ridiculous distances. Several times, I backed at least six full weapon-lengths out of his reach and he still managed to both damage me and knock me back. I think his threat range or whatever might need a little tweaking. I expect to get hit if I'm relatively close to an enemy, but his swords were damaging me almost from across the room. Also, my character (a two-handed warrior) has the Resilience skill, and yet several of the Arishok's attacks knocked my character flat on his back (Not the charge. That knocked me flat too, but I expected that despite the Resilience skill. I'm talking about his other attacks).

Act 2 when I go back to Hawke's home in Hightown and spend the night with Isabela, I get a popup stating I got a new item. "Threads of the Eastern Sea" after Isabela leaves, but it does not show up in my inventory at all. This is an odd glitch, because I'd like to use the item.

Quest: The Lowdown, I kill Kanky Hammertoe and his group of men in the warehouse he is supposed to be in. He does not drop the Helm of Enasalin for my rogue. There is supposed to be a rogue armor set for act 2 and it's call the armor of Enasalin. You get the helm, gloves, boots, and chest piece to complete the set. The helm is supposed to be dropped by Kanky Hammertoe according to the official game guide that I bought from Gamestop when I picked up the game.

Questioning Beliefs for Anders. I had the conversation with him to complete the quest, but it's still stuck in my quest log and when returning to his clinic, he has the quest turn in icon above his head.

Graphics Glitch, location Docks (Night). Just after exiting the warehouse in quest The Lowdown and killing Kanky Hammertoe. Some doors, parts of walls and part of the ground is showing up in blocked colors. Like a messed up color pallet from Photoshop as an example.

The Exiled Prince cannot be started on Act 2. The ! symbol on the Chanter's Board can be seen but cannot be interacted with. Thus making it impossible to start the quest.

Regarding Merrill's quest: Well, I reloaded to the expedition, to see if Bethany stayed home it would make a difference. I was able to do "consoling words," but the mirror was already there, and I can't get "mirror image" after completing "blackpowder courtesy."
