I am currently at the end of act 1 where i speak with bartrand about the deep roads, gave the 50g, maps etc. all quests done 100% up to the point, all that is left is the deep roads quest. When speaking with him all goes fine up till the mother asks about Bethany, and any option i pick it ends up saving but then doing nothing. So i restart the conversation with bartrand and its just the same stuff all over. I reloaded, I restarted, I saved and loaded... not one thing works...this is clearly a major issue.

What were the choices you picked during the conversation with you mother? Do you have a save prior to the conversation (not an auto-save)?

I got the same glitch on my second playthrough. I had Anders, Varric, and Carver in my party. I picked the smart-ass remark, then said Varric was coming with me. Also, this might be of note, I did the Armor trick with Aveline, leveling/money trick, and am a Mage. I'm guessing, that since he didn't mention that in his post, those things are irrelevant.

I also noticed my game's not overwriting autosaves at this point. Not sure if that's helpful either.

I reloaded back to an earlier save and it worked fine. I think it might be that carver wasn't in my party at the time. That's as far as I can guess, anyways.

I'm having the same problem right now. Tried having bethany with me and being totally alone. The party select screen just won't show up. Please put a patch out for this Bioware. I need to finish this game!

im glad to see that im not the only one with this issue. lets hope this is fixed because its kinda sad that i cant get further into the game

I'm having the same issue. Mother ask if Im going to take bethany I say no and nothing happens. I even tried reloading old save and coming without bethany and then I dont even get an option hawke just says he hasnt decided lol. If I come with bethany not matter if I pick for her to stay or go it doesnt give me the character select screen.

I cant finish bait and switch as well because I cant enter the mansion and never put fenris in my group...

it just sucks to pay 60 dollars for a game that i cant even get past the beginning of the game in... this is almost as bad as *able III.... i cant even load the game due to a major bug...its a shame these companies are just tossing games out without much work on the bug side

If you can't load the game, Then the problem is with either you Xbox or the Disc itselfs. Almost everyone can play the game.

its not the xbox because the game plays fine and all other games work fine, the disk isnt even being used as ive installed the game. so maybe bioware can address that since im not the only one whos experiencing this problem

Have you tried running the game from Disc to see if the install didn't work correctly?

I'm having exactly the same problem- I experienced it with my first character, and believe it or not, with my second as well. As something which completely halts progress, with no apparent workarounds, I really hope Bioware are working on something!
