Same problem here. First time, froze when one of the sons talks. Second time, froze when he offers reward, so I'm guessing almost completed.
Both times a hard reset of the PS3 was required.
Third attempt worked. There was a pause near the end, but finished correctly. Things I did differently: talked to elf first. Ran around a bit (instead of going straight to them from section load). Purposely did not connect to PSN or Bioware when launching the game. Crossed fingers.
Same thing with me. Froze upon talking to first dwarf. Restarted. Then it froze at the end when talking to the patriarch to receive my reward. I had only had the game freeze once in about 70 hours of game time and the first time i did the fools gold with my male hawke had no issues. This time with my female hawke it froze twice. Restarted again and I just did not do the quest and have been playing with no issues.

If you kill her too quickly, she will never die as well. Fixable with just letting her do her first teleport to the other end of the small roomp1013 wrote...
Reporting the same bug as dharim in regards to Fenris' companion quest. I was able to start the quest without Fenris in the party, finished the dungeon, but I was unable to finish the quest. The apprentice was sparkling, as if she had loot, but I was unable to select her.

- Almost completed Act 2 and Merrill's opening act conversation quest never did trigger.

I've seen this one on other threads, so not sure if this is a general game error. When romancing Isabela, her outfit changes during the cutscene for a second then changes back to her original costume. I can get her new romance costume back my using an attribute reallocation potion, so there is technically a fix, but yeah...still a bug.

I'll amend my previous post by saying I finally got through this portion of the game by reloading a save before I went on the expedition and playing through to this point then going to DuBois in darktown instead of the Urchin, this takes you right to the foundry instead of going through lowtown at night.
HOWEVER, I now am on the quest To Catch A Thief and once again am required to go to Low Town at night. The game once again freezes every time without fail after a certain amount of time has passed there.

Bethany is flagged as hostile and angry and you give her negative reactions when you see her after rescueing Orsino from the Qunari, even though previous to this she has always been helpful and kind and sweet and everything is nice to you. I suspect this is a bug that I am flagged as hostile with her despite not ever being mean to her. If it's not, then it's just p!ss poor writing, but hey, you the developers tell me which one it is.

*Sound missing for attacking with dual daggers (Both Hawke and Isabela)
*During kiss scenes, the faces don't line up. (Anders violently ate Hawke's chin/Hawke turned vampire on Fenris)
*NPC's flickering during cutscenes
*Companions are idle in battle
*Attack speed degredation has begun, so badly that Hawke is unplayable
*Party members looking at the sky instead of headtracking to the speaking NPC
*Same banters replaying
*Wondering why there are no female dwarves in the entire game
*Dual Dagger hawke using default dagger instead of equipped dagger during Arishok death scene
*Fenris got stuck inside of Anders during battle, fixed only when both removed from party
*Autosaves still freezing the system
*Isabela's hair can't decide what colour it wants to be
*Merrill showed up at my house as if I had started a romance, when I never selected a single flirt line with her
*Bloodmage feels useless //everything requires willpower, so I either respec or use horribly low-grade gear to be any bit proficient as a BM
*Airshok's hair keeps vanishing
*Data/profiles do not upload to the site
*Ogre animation stuck indefinitely (When it charges a wall, sometimes it just won't pull itself out creating a party free-for-all on it's backside)

After several playthroughs with no trouble on this quest, the same thing just happened to me. Idk why there are just four guys standing around after I killed Fell Oden and so many others, and Harley is still able to be talked to asking me to help her fight the bandits. Gonna try a reload and see if I can avoid this bug, which I never got until now...weird.

I had this happen to me during my 3rd playthrough. It happened again during my 4th playthrough. Sometimes enemies will not drop loot until they have been dead for a while. On my 4th pt I ended up walking far away from the area and came back down again about a few minutes later and Fell Ordens body dissappeared but his loot was left behind and I was able to get the armor upgrade. I don't know if this is a sure-fire fix.

This compounds with keeping me from completing an Herbalist's Task (act 2) as well, since the last item for it is found during Mirror Image. Am I doing something wrong, or does this quest trigger later?
Again, this is on the PS3. I've ported over a DA:O save file at the start. This isn't the first quest I've had bug like this; Fool's Gold showed up in my game even though I fulfilled the correct requirements in DA:O:A to keep it from happening, and I the Fine Dwarven Trousers in Ander's Act 2 companion quest do not drop (so I can't the the One True Pantaloons quest). Why does my game want to hurt me so? Why does it not want me to experience content? I have a sad, guys.

If it helps, I brought Bethany with me in Act I to the Deep Roads and had her become a Grey Warden.
Actually, I completed Mourning before the patch, but now after the patch, journal has the entry for this quest, but the description is blank and it won't let me do Mirror Image, the next part of the quest. Is there something wrong with Mourning that's glitching the rest of the game?

I go through Hightown a few times, clear out all the street mobs, and I get the quest fine. Same with the Docks, works just fine. But when I go to Lowtown to start clearing out the mobs there, I clear out the first set, zone out, and come back but nothing, not a single mob appears anywhere. Checked my logs to make sure I hadnt completed it by accident. Checked every nook and cranny in Lowtown but the mobs just wont spawn anymore and wont trigger the quest.
Have you checked on top of the stairs near uncle gamlens house? (In that zone) I had this problem too in Lowtown and it was often because on single enemy somewhere was still alive and preventing new mobs from being formed.
