Hi everyone. Please use this thread to post any issues you're encountering that are SPECIFIC TO ACT 3 of the game.

While we're making an attempt to capture the various issues posted in individual threads, this will give us a nice central place to begin collecting and addressing these.

The entire line with Merrill seems to bug out really badly from the start of act three, I've done 3 complete playthroughs (one as each class, all male) that romanced merrill and heres how it breaks down.

Essentially if you've romanced her she's in the mansion with you at hightown, when she heads back to the alienage the quest automatically forwards to friend or foe (the one AFTER you've dealt with the demon in the cave)

Then she gets the quest icon over her head signifying a new quest which turns out to be one involving varric and bodhan. THEN finally it leads to the quest that mentions seeking out the demon in the cave. After you complete that however the friend of foe quest is lost leaving a situation where the chronology is severely messed up.

Further issues with her in act three include the following:

During the best served cold line, if Merrill is kidnapped she is still available to join your party (and funnily enough can be in your Hightown mansion at the same time and in your party when the templar talks about it) If she is found in the best served cold line she will also default to her default clothing.

Using the console commands did little to fix the issue (I would type runscript zz_mrl_debug, I tried the following things, none of which seemed to work)

Act II:
Would finish the merrill story line and then activate the initial quest for act III => Bugs the Game out so don't do it

Act III:
Right after the argument with meridith and orsino

A)
Would Activate the first quest, unfortunately merrill would have the quest "The new place" due to the romance and would bug out and not appear.

B)
Would Activate the final quest (aftermath), unfortunately the line still seems to bug.


A fix for these issues would be greatly appreciated as I'm going to start my nightmare playthrough (where I will inevitably end up romancing merrill).

The only issue I had with Act 3 was the quest to rescue the girl from the Wounded Coast. I found a bandit leader but was never able to interact with him, and never found a girl there.

having a similar merrill bug to @lakhi. romanced merrill in act 2, and went to her house for 'new place' at beginning of act 3, only to hit the cutscene of her crying about the keeper. advancing from there goes through two conversations, but doesn't activate the next quest. severely irritating bug. also the rescue girl on wounded coast not triggering despite receiving/accepting the letter.

another one. during fight with orsino at gallows prison, each 'phase' of the fight would hang indefinitely, not spawning enemies for the next phase. saving, exiting and loading would prompt the next wave to spawn and eventually finished the fight this way. still not as irritating as the achronological merril bugs...

Isabela standing in front of writing desk in Act 3 with quest exclamation mark over her, but is un interact-able.

This one goes for PC version too. There's no quest marker on the map and only a bandit here too. Would suspect the plot script's event handler not ifring upon accepting the quest. Shouldn't be hard to fix, unless it has changed since Origins' tools.

I dont know in which act it was... But the questline with Sketch is not completable... You found Sketch at the end of the quest in the Docks at night, talked to him and the quest is still in your questlog... Would be a nice fix too!

And I have another question: Where is act 4? Image IPB

Oh, and I own the PC-Version!

Running Version 1.01.5534 (1.01) on the Mac:

The Justice quest-the Grand Cleric is not in the Chantry and so that quest cannot be done.

The Qunari Swords quest remains as a new plot icon even when I have spoken to Taarbas and given him the first sword. Other swords cannot be found, as though the quest had not initiated.

Another bug is that the last armor piece for Aveline is not dropping when you kill Jeven the ex-commander of the kirkwall guard...

There's also a new plot icon at the desk in the Hawke estate. The only new item is a letter from Orsino, but when read, the icon remains as a new plot icon, as though the letter had not been read.
(Am near end of game, but stuck unable to complete "Justice" and thus do not want to try the end-game without doing that).

Are we supposed to lose gifts between acts?

I had the Halla for Merrill and the Ship for Isabela in my inventory at the end of Act II. In Act III, I could give Isabela the ship just fine but after speaking with Merrill in her home and witnessing her smash the mirror/ask for direction, she must have taken up a life of crime because someone pick pocketed the Halla.

I just found a bug in "Reining it In” quest. After I killed Jess Varvel at Run Down Alley, I leave the place but instead I appear at Docks near the exit to Run Down Alley, I appear in the other side of the Docks map, and the quest is not completed. If I go to Run Down Ally again, nothing happens and my quest continue unfinished.

I went to bone pit, finished off the dragon, then left to sell stuff. When I came back to do Anders's quest, there was quest markers on the map for the dragon and the dragon quest. It was still dead though.

The warehouse where you meet Castillion has a blades running through the floor trap. It was bugged for me (1.02), you could only run through it while the blades were spinning, exactly opposite to how it should be.

I had this same issue... I've tried different party combinations, reloading, going away talking to her in the hanged man then coming back... everything.

Has anyone had any luck with this??
