In the first quest with Fenris, at the mansion, the key didn't drop. I am unsure if I defeated the Rage Demon, but I didn't find any loot from it at all. When I reloaded the auto-save at the start of the mansion the key dropped no problems, it wasn't that irritating, but I'd imagine it will be for people who don't know about the key. I am playing patch 1.00 if it matters.

Bug

In full screen mode for 1900x1200 on the Flemeth reveal my cut scene went black but audio continued as if the cut scene was running normally.

This also occured on the Varric introduction cut scene.

Changing to window mode rectified the issue.

 Hi,

The game keeps crashing during the first "movie" - after the conversation between the dwarf and the chantry girl i.e. after the I play through the first few minutes when the dwarf is telling the false story. After this I am able to configure my characters appearance etc. and then when the cut scene starts the game always crashes during the same point. I have tried updating my drivers, downloading the patch and re-installing the game but nothing works. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Should add that I am running the game on a PC, Windows 7 64-Bit.

After meeting Isabelle in the bar, outside, you follow her, and get in a couple of fights, then when I'm supposed to go to the Chantry, there is a quest marker on the chantry, as well as a label.  But I cannot enter, or right or left click on anything.

I am having the same problem.  Quest is "Fools Rush In" I believe.  I left her standing there thinking she might reset or the door might become unlocked if I progressed enough or went to a different area. Now, I've done all of the available quests and am ready to go on the deep roads expedition but I can't complete this one quest.  I am unable to play until this issue is resolved.  I've put in way too many hours to backtrack and I'm unwilling to proceed without aquiring her / finishing quests.

Please Help!

Quest: Wayward Son

After killing the mobs in Darktown, i got an update to ask me to "search the slavers bodies"
All the bodies are searched and disappear and im stuck.

I am not able to initiate the Act of Mercy quest because of this and also the deep road expedition.

I have seen a problem with Act I "Herbalist's Tasks." I have made two playthroughs to this point. In the first, I turned in two of the three reagents at once and then returned with the third, and everything worked fine. The second time, I turned in all three reagents at once. In this case, the quest marked all three items as turned in, but did not complete (no XP or gold). When I subsequently talk to Solivitus, there is no cutscene and his dialogue asks if I have found any more ingredients.

A second, minor bug I have seen a couple of times: occasionally, when I am playing a dark-skinned Hawke, some of the NPCs skins turn completely black. Odd, and it persists when reloading the game. My fix was to exit the game, and then re-start it.

For Martin's quest, if you approach the warehouse at night and wake the sleeping guard, I don't think you get any xp for killing him. Only half-sure about that issue; if you switch to daytime the guards have been summoned there but the ones you would originally talk to in daytime can't be conversed with anymore and just stand around; warehouse not interactable in daytime anymore. Odd syncing issue, clearly of my own doing, but thought I'd point it out...

When customizing your face and choosing one of the non-default presets as a base, the Skin Complexion slider is not being set to the preset's complexion.  Instead, the slider is always pegged to the left (no wrinkles).  To test:
  • Choose any preset other than the default heads, preferably one with an obvious non-perfect complexion (very obvious in the male presets).
  • Go into the skin customization sliders.  Note that the slider for complexion is pegged all the way on the left.
  • Move the slider to the right and then back to its original position.  Note that the skin complexion chosen does not match the preset anymore, despite being in the original position.

I think there's a workaround for that one. It seems this bug is triggered by looting the bodies (which get's you the letter) before Isabella says her 'Search the bodies' speech.

So just reload a save from before the fight (you should at least have an autosave from then), kill all the bad guys but do not loot any body. Then wait for Isabella to say her 'Seach the bodies...' line (I remember reading that you only need wait till she begins speaking that dialogue), then loot the bodies.

This should correctly enable you to enter the chantry.

Sadly my previous save is 6 hours in the past and I'm unwilling to sacrifice 6 hours of my life to terrible, amature game design.  So that leaves me stuck waiting for a patch so I can explore the deep roads with someone that can stealth / scout.

Quest: "The First Sacrifice"
After showing remains to Emeric, Quest dissapears from the Journal eventhough you still need to go to Ghyslain and give the ring to get the XP.

Minor issue in Aveline's quest line in Act 1:

I forget the exact quest, but it is the one where you have to find a guard in Lowtown. If Aveline is not in the party, you can still find and interact with the guard. This causes the quest dialogues to trigger and Aveline's voice comes from nowhere!

As I say, minor, but interesting...

I am having an issue with the Act 1 quest 'Magistrate's Orders'. I picked the quest up from the magistrate and have also spoken to the elf near to the site where the man is hidden. Once I went into the dungeon I found that the doors leading directly to the man are non-interactable so I can't reach him even though his location is clearly flagged on the map. I've double checked and gone around the area to try other doors etc and still can't reach him.

This is my 2nd playthrough and on my first, I had no issues with the quest at all so I'm left scratching my head about why it won't work now.

Edit - just went back in and can get there.  I patched to 1.01 in between so I'm not sure if it's helped or whether I missed something after all.

The quest "The Wayward Son" is horrendously bugged.

Two problems seem to have been identified by a wide spread of users:

1. people are unable to talk to Samson - they see a quest icon over his head but no proper dialogue.

I can confirm an issue with this quest where Samson get's a stuck quest arow above his head, but will not give any quest related "cutscene dialog" - he still gives a 'you better hurry up' one-liner on activating.

Steps I took in my playthrough that triggered the issue:
  • Pick up the wayward son quest from the boy's mother outside Merrill's house in the elven alienage. The quest suggests two alternate paths of action: a) ask the boys father, B) ask the templar Thrask in the Gallows
  • Went to the boy's father (V-something), a merchant in Lowtown and pressed him for clues, he should direct the player to Samson -> Samson get's a quest arrow (both on the map and above his head)
  • Talk to Samson, I threatened him to get a lead, he sends you to a warehouse in the docks -> Samson looses his quest arrow
  • I traveled to the docks and entered the marked warehouse
  • Then without leaving the first room and not triggering any fight I left the warehouse again
  • Traveled to the Gallows and asked the templar Thrask for clues, Thrask will send you to Samson
Samson get's another quest arrow - this arrow will not disappear upon speaking to samson again, since he longer gives quest related dialog, he only repeats his 'you better hurry one-liner'
  • Return to the Docks warehouse and finish the quest
The 'second' quest marker for samson will stick for the remainder of the whole act, no matter if the quest is still open or completed.
I don't know if the second hint sending you to Samson triggers the stuck quest marker or if you need to actually enter the Docks warehouse as well.

Ive got problem with that quest as well. Game tells me to loot slave(rs) bodies in search info about where they took fenriel. Problem is I allready lootem bodies in darktown.. but still quest arrow on map points me darktown as place where i should look. While in Darktown, there is no marker on the map.. ;/ Anybody solved that?

The "Bait and Switch" quest, which must be completed to recruit Fenris, is listed as a secondary quest.  It's also an unappealing story - help some lowlife recover something stolen by other lowlifes?  Why should I bother?  I was half-way through Act 2 before I realized I never met Fenris.  Apparantly this has happened to others as well.  Bait and Switch should be considered a main quest to help people avoid missing a companion.

Has this bug been reported yet?

I've completed Isabela's sidequests and now I'm unable to finish the quest Night Lies as the last group of fake guards in Hightown will not spawn. I've heard several others have had this problem as well.

Edit: rezoning seems to have done the trick, Three groups, in Viscount's Way and the area where Bodahn and Hubert stand during the day, didn't all show up the first time, but they did when I rezoned, though one group only spawned after I ran in and out of the square.

The lyrium idol is not always in the right position. In my first playthrough it floated near the characters' hands but it didn't look as if they were really holding it.

The chest in the Blooming Rose containing the Rune of Lightning tracing keeps spawning after being looted. When I open it it's empty but when I loot the "empty" chest it tells me I got the tracing.

2. At the section where you need to "search the bodies of the slavers for clues" the particular body you need, that of the named bad guy you fight in Darktown is not there, because he vanishes for no reason mid fight. Others have found that he is there on the ground and his body shimmers but is unlootable.

This is pretty much a gamebreaker, as you cannot carry on with the game if you cannot complete this quest - I am faced with losing almost 6 hours of gameplay because of this bug. Might I suggest a simple fix for the issue of the corpse you need to loot not being there?

If the bad guy you need to loot despawns or is unlootable, simply apply a small hotfix so that the item you need to pick up is not on a corpse, but on the table next to the slavers, or even in the chest at the back of the room. I am sure you have tools that easily allow you to manipulate items in the game world, so this shouldn't cause too many problems.

and how would we apply this fix ???

More a general UI bug, but the experience bars under the character names in the upper left hand corner of the character screens are buggy.  The bar fill extends well beyond the experience bar frame when your character is close to the next level.
