Had the Merrill bug - she was crying about everyone being dead when they weren't.
Also Leliana romance didn't import, it seems. Savegame was imported from Awakening.
Aveline seemed to think Ferelden had a King. May not be a bug, I guess, since Anora could have died or married or whatever - she was recognised as Queen earlier in the game.
The end boss stuns people so they can deliver a monologue. Aveline was immune to stun. So she kept stabbing. That was funny, but probably not intended.

These are my act 3 bugs so far:
-Get a Merrill bug where I go to talk to her and she is pissed at me saying I didn't help her ... have no idea what she is talking about (edit: figured it out she thinks I withheld the elven relic from her - which I didn't).
-Bug with Who Needs Rescuing like everyone else.
-Ended up getting Fool's Gold quest in act 2 instead of the Nathanial quest in Act 3 even though I imported awakening and he was alive at end of it.
-Bug with Awiergan Scrolls quest: I got all 3 scrolls and pride unbound quest show in journal, but Awiergan Scrolls: First Aspect quest still shows up too and I can't get the hidden lair to show up now.  (edit: figured it out.  Picked up scroll but never walked back through the entire wounded coast to trigger the fight.  Once I did that was able to get to pride unbound.)

Alright, after testing this some more using some alternate saves and using both rival and friend, it appears the root of the issue is that if you allow Merrill to fix the mirror in Act 2 and romance her as friend, the quest trigger for the mirror shattering cut-scene never triggers after "A New Path". So after you complete "A New Path" and kill the possessed keeper, regardless of whether or not you spare the clan, you will never get the cut-scene.

Conversely, if you go the opposite route and romance her as rival (not sure if that is the actual problem) when you go into Act 3 and get "A Talking Too" and speak to her in her house the shattered mirror cut-scene triggers erroneously.

So the problem appears to be the quest trigger for the shattered mirror cut-scene is screwed up in the scripting somehow.  Regardless, if you complete "A New Path" the actual progression (romance and end-game dialogue) is still fine even if you don't get the cut-scene.

I should get paid for the 5+ hours I spent on alternate save files testing this ad naseum...

Just to add to this that it happened in my game - I was NOT romancing Merrill, but 100% rival status with her and did not let her fix the mirror.  So it seems to be messed up for those with rival status regardless of the romance aspect.

A friend of mine has the problem that the Pride Demon in Merrils quest won't die... it gets stuck at 1% health.

So... Merrill bug here as well (I romanced her and she is crying about her keeper and clan before I've actually done the quest). Anyone seen anything about when they're patching this? I'm not really wanting to move forward until I'm sure things will play out correctly.

they don't tell us about the patch. I am waiting since Monday because of that quest with Merrill.

If someone could figure out the console command to force the shattered mirror cut-scene after you complete "A New Path" it would be a fairly good solution to this problem. As yet I have not seen anyone who has found the command for that interaction.

I have a huge issue with my 2-handed warrior. I first played him w 2-handed weapon specializations, then re-made him into a tank with Makers Sigh during act 2 (from the Black Emporium) and now during act 3 I've used the same potion to give him back the 2-handed specializations. The problem is only that I now have about twice as many ability points (Makers Sigh bug?) and his attack speed is halved (i.e. he strikes at normal attack speed when hasted). I out of curiosity, I tried to re-load to act 1, where his attack speed was normal.

So my points being: The makers Sigh potion can (if used + then quick save + then quick load) somehow give additional ability-points and decreases the attack speed for 2-handed weapons (this have only occured to Hawke and I have not yet checked whether it affects him when he uses sword and shield)

I have an issue with my rogue. I originally had him a duel wield rogue but remade him into an archer. I had no problems with him until the companion quest for Merrill where you have to fight the pride demon. Now my rogue attacks extremely slowly. Everyone else attacks at normal speeds however. I don't believe it is due to the Makers sigh potion as i have used it on several others and i haven't had a problem with them. This problem continues to persist and it almost seems he gets even slower if he dies.

As well the +7 stat runestones that i have socketed in my champion gear don't have an effect on my character.

I have also had the same Merrill quest bugs as mentioned above where the quests don't follow in the correct order.

The rescue quest located in The Wounded Coast does not properly work/register

I don't know if this was mentioned, but I got the quest to find Howe and I did not get to it right away. I did some other things & got the quest that Beth was kidnapped. Before I finished that, I went to the deep roads to find Howe, but the quest couldn't complete because Beth wasn't there. If I left the DR, they would disappear from the map. I went back to an old save & did the DR before I got the kidnapping quest, and it worked. Also, I did not spare the architect & it said I did.

Hmm, let's see...

- Got the Merrill bug.
- Got the Who Needs Rescuing bug - whatever is supposed to happen at the coast never happens, so...
- Also, I got an odd bug wih Anders... See, I didn't give him the Tevinter Amulet in act 2, because I (was trying to push him towards Rivality and the amulet always give +15 Friendship points instead, no matter the response. So I put that off for the time being... Act 3 arrives and thankfully, it appears to still be possible to give him the amulet (a quest arrow over his head and all). So I push up his Rivality to max... But now, no matter how many times I click him, nothing happens and he just says something like "It's clear where your allergiences lie, Champion". Again and again. And nothing happens; the Tevinter Amulet quest remains unsolved and all...  Image IPB

I've ran into an issue with the quest involving the Ancient Pride Demon. Not sure if its related to me finding the scrolls not in order (I've found the first scroll last), but a new map location did not open up for me at all.

The quest "Who Needs Rescuing?" on the Wounded Coast. In the same location as the Flint Company mercenaries from the Act One quest "Duty" there's a man just sort of standing around. Holding tab doesn't highlight him, but if you hover your mouse over his model "Bandit Leader" pops up as his name.

I have this issue as well.  As an aside Wounded Coast doesn't have a quest arrow for the location, despite at least one quest stage being set there.

As an addendum, I have the collector's edition on DVD-ROM for the PC.

As a second aside, my Merrell romance doesn't seem bugged in Act 3, I THINK I got everything in the right order.  She also in a random conversation mentioned how she's in love with my character.  I did have the bug in act 2 where "mourned" shows as completed, but I managed to find a work around via the console.

Here's the act 2 workaround as an aside.  This assumes you did the steps to get the console to work, and of course assumes you're playing on the PC.

1)  Enter the console (After setting it up properly, I used the instructions for cheat codes at gamefaqs.com).
2)  Type in Runscript zz_mrl_debug
3)  Look for a menu marked "main quest"
4)  I think that then has three items to pick, pick act 2.
5)  Pick "mirror quest".
6)  Pick stage 1

If that does nothing (it did SEEM to do nothing, but I'm not sure if doing a dummy stage one is needed) then do this.

7)  Reenter the console, type in the same runscript command
8)  Bring back up the menu items above
9)  Pick stage 2 of the mirror quest.

Her romance seemed to work fine with that.

I'm going to cut and paste this and post it in the act 2 section for bug reporting in this subforum.

I'm not sure if this issue has been brought up already but I've had issues specifically with the lip syncing in Act 3 in game cutscenes. Lip syncing is great throughout my game experience except when for the dialogue in the Last Straw quest chain, the characters outside of Hawke seem to be skipping animations when reciting certain lines (Bethany probably being the biggest culprit of them all).

Another couple of tiny issues:

Bethany acts all screwy in the Harvester encounter (graphical distortions, repeatedly grunting, etc.)
A random hostile Templar spawns in the "main hall" of the Templar Halls during the trapped corridor encounter (the one with an Arcane Horror right before Sandal & the 3 Rage Demon encounter) this causes allies to go completely screwy trying to get to the mob by attacking through the door & barricade (which they can't) and prevents you from leaving combat unless you "glitch through the barricade" and attack him at range or maybe run back to the start of the level (which I haven't tried).

Admittedly all these bugs are very minor ones I can live with (unlike the Friendship bugs & broken quests) but just thought I'd report my experiences just the same.

Sorry to do two posts almost in a row, but one minor bug I've seen in every act is half the time when they do a closeup shot for a conversation in game or a cutscene, the bottom set of teeth disappear. Usually it's just the front two teeth. I do assume it's a graphic glitch, and not an indication that everyone in game has terrible oral hygene. :)

Hi, here are my issues in Act 3. I have 2 complete playthroughs. Both playthroughs were save imports from witch hunt where:

Nathaniel was alive
Architect was alive
Saved Amaranthine

Bugs:
1- Merill's quest are out of order (got the mourning quest immediately after the act started) in both playthroughs

2- Delilah never spawned for both playthoughs. Fools' Gold was ignored in one playthrough completely (quest not accepted) but was completed in the other

3- Who needs rescuing quest bugged (Bandit leader spawned but no interactions possible)

Thanks.

Image of Olaf's Armory chest is not there. I can still click on it. It was there in Act I & Act II:

Having the same issue with Merrill's quests being out of order (although it's good to know that the actual gameplay effect is minimal and her romance still proceeds apace). Hawke is in a romance with her at 100% Friend status, and I did give her the tool to help repair the eluvian.

To poll others who've had similar issues, has anyone tried outright ignoring all of Merrill's quests until "A New Path" is available? In other words, leave both "The New Place" and "A Talking To" alone until after "On the Loose" is finished? (I'm given to understand that her companion quest opens after "On the Loose," but I've not actually played through the quest just yet.)

Silly Dalish. This is why you don't muck about with blood magic, your quest sequencing gets all out of whack. She's just lucky that it ended where it did, or you'd have to trigger her companion quest by playing Mass Effect 3.

  • Ok, I'm getting the Merril quest bug where she gets her final scene before getting her quest.
  • I'm also getting the but with "Who Needs Rescuing?" quest (don't think it works for anyone).
  • I don't think I managed to wrap things up with Fenris either.
  • Sebastian didn't have an Act 3 quest that I was able to find.
  • Merill didn't show up in the final battle with Meredith.
  • Also in the final battle, for some reason Carver's hair was white, looking a lot like Fenris's.
  • I killed the High Dragon after getting the quest to meet Meredith and Orisino in the Gallows. This made it impossible to end the quest "The Herbalist's Tasks" because going to the Gallows starts the end quest.
  • No Music over the credits.
  • Edit: Also got the Hawke slowdown bug. Not as bad as some other people, but she was attacking with her staff at about 1/2 the speed she used to.

*Sigh* They just released patch 1.01... you know that means they're not gonna patch to 1.02 until at least Monday. We might even have to wait 2 weeks. Nobody will patch their game twice in just a few days for fear of bad press. So the bugs that seem to happen to everyone and make the game unplayable are going unpatched... *sigh* I guess the last time I'm gonna play DA2 is tomorrow, because I won't have many quests left without starting the ending sequence. And I need Merrill to be patched first.

i've been using fenris as a companion since act 2, but since i started act 3 fenris runs away in combat, i havnt changed his tactic settings at all, other than to add attack nearest seen enemy after i noticed this issue, and even after that he runs in, attacks with one swipe, then turns around and runs for a second, then turns around and does the same thing. is this some sort of known bug or am i missing something entirely. During act 2 he acted just fine, went into combat and fought like he should, now unless i control him myself he just runs away. WTF its so frustrating because he is the last character i need for a balanced party.

Okay finally finished the game, and here are my Act 3 issues. Rogue Hawke. Most of these have been reported it seems but will still list em.

-Merrill cutscenes out of order.
-Slow-mo Hawke. Seemed to start during Anders' Justice quest and seemed most prevalent during the post attack animation of assassinate and twin fangs.
-Quest markers all messed up. Some didn't appear at all, some appeared in the wrong place (e.g. Justice would appear in Darktown rather than the Clinic, whereas the turn in for High Dragon blood never appeared at all)
-Frozen bandit leader in the coast so couldn't complete the rescue quest
-Jeven (sp?) didn't drop Aveline's final armor upgrade. Tried a few times, shield would always drop sometimes money as well, but never the upgrade
-Finding Nathaniel quest never offered. I gather that this may only be available if you have an Awakenings save and therefore intentional. If that is so, it should still be changed as you should not be restricted from fully upgrading a companion (Varric) based on whether you imported or not.
-Slept with Isabela but romanced Merrill, ending dialog by Varric indicates Isabela stayed with me.

Oh, I just ran into something that may be another bug.. When leaving Sundermount after doing Merrill's quest, the clan attacks you, unless you selected a certain dialogue response, right? So, I assume the whole camp's supposed to attack the player then? If so, there's a bug/error here, because when the battle ended, there were still three non-hostile elves left in the camp: Hahren Paivel + 2 Dalish archers. Is that how it's supposed to be...?
