Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like this game was built up to be this whole narrative about a person who had such a huge influence on the world, but in the end, you really only get to make 1 real, important decision? Not that I didn't enjoy the game while i was playing it, and I enjoyed the choices you get to make regarding companions and relationships, but I never felt like anything I was doing affected anyone other than me, really. It really seems like all of the events of the game are happening around Hawke, rather than him having any real influence. in Origins the decisions you made had a real and lasting impact on thousands of people, while Hawke's decisions mainly revolve around "Do I kill the blood mage, or let him go?". Most of the time, when confronted with a chance to really affect something (which rarely happens), no matter what you do/say, the outcome will always be the same, looking at you, Qunari. The one major choice seems to set up what, if I didn't notice I was near the 35 hour mark, I thought would be the meat of the game. Most of the game seems to be set-up for what happens next, and then, right when things finally start getting interesting, BAM, credits. I think the fact that there was no epliogue was very telling of this. Remember how detailed Origins' epilogue was? Imagine what DA2's would be like. It would be a list of saved, saved, killed, saved, killed, let go, killed, etc. Again, I enjoyed the game while I was playing it, but looking back, everything before the Mage/Templar decision was laughably irrelevant to the world of Dragon Age.

Really how many important decisions did you make in DA:O? No matter what you kill the arch demon. Does it really matter if spare Loghain, chose the Wolves over the Dalish, or choosing between one Dwarven King or other. If yout think about you made an actual really important choice in 2 as compared to Origins, you get to decide on how you wish the world to be shaped.

Pretty much. It was too static. Now to be fair if another company had made this game? No one would be 1/10th as upset. Bioware has almost always been a staple of great story telling. This one falls flat. Awakenings at least had more choice options and it was not well received mostly. I would have said in the game review thread that I WAS the Warden in Origins. In DA2? I played Hawke. The difference seems minor, but it's the tone and feel that really undersold the product.

I still play Origins because of the various different outcomes you could have. This game has a pretty static and unwavering outcome. Small choices affect if your sibling lives as a Circle Mage/Templar, Grey Warden or just dies. And sadly the greatest achievement of this game was Bethany. I really cared about her and she was meant as disposable. Everything else you choose? It all ends the same anyway. Replaying it doesn't make you a hero no matter what you do. You have little to no control of the outcome, and that severely cuts down the replay value. And it already has me wondering about trading the game in, DLC or no DLC.

Just as a side note, what do you do to get Bethany to join the Wardens? She went to the circle in mine.

Yes. Thank you. I completely agree. I have never played a game where less happens. It's stunning.
