Looking at the skills for rogues. It seems they could tank... Thoughts?

From my knowledge they have no defense for knockdowns or knockbacks, so they would be poor tanks.

I respectfully disagree with DA Trap Star, all you need is a ring I had found on my own Rogue that gave immunity to crits and stuns (which appears to also stop most knockdowns) and I not only tanked fine, but my Decoy tanked even better, especially when it exploded! Not to mention if you use the Fell Poison that gives you lifesteal on your attacks, you'll notice your health never ever drop.

However, I don't know if it would work at all on Nightmare. My trial with a tanking rogue worked on Hard perfectly fine (I had no healer and no tank, I had Fenris, Sebastian, and Merrill.. so essentially, no healer, no tank. I did not give Fenris taunt or any real tanking ability except for wielding heavy armor)... seemed to work very well, I utterly could not die endgame.

My rogue gets bi*** smacked around all day, so no. A duelist with a high cunning score could possible do it however.

Did it with Duelist/Shadow. Decoy helps keep the attention of groups while Throw The Gauntlet can be used on elites and bosses. When elites/bosses are targetting you, you can jump around the battlefield and kill the lesser minions. You won't have to worry about the harder enemies hitting any of your party members because they'll be trying to chase after you. Vendetta can be used to teleport from across the room, as well as kill whatever squishy target you want in one hit(starting a fight with Vendetta against a mage/archer across the room followed by a Decoy works wonders). With capped 80% avoidance against bosses, you will be untouchable if you can get your party members to trigger an obscure effect on you(i had Varric for this). The hardest encounters are against enemies with a lot of knockback. Thats where I faced the majority of my deaths in Nightmare.
