The title is true to it's word, but is also a little mis-leading.  I've got over 10yrs as a Sr. Engineer/ IT Manager / Director.  And i'll admit i'm weak in areas where i should be strong, but too many times, it just needs to be done right up front and study from the backend later.

Now here comes the crux of my problem.  My father is a retired programmer for Nasa.  The why questions he asks me were generally buried undere i'd didn't have time to fully research and understand, i just had to install, deploy, test and promote.

So our discussion has run into:  What processes specifically require multi-core support in DragonsAge?  Is it the way the rulesets are computed throughout the enviroument or how certain textures are able to be manipulated?  Where does the graphics card pass off the info it will not process.

I'm hoping to hear something a little bit more defined than: We coded for multicore by increasing our thread cound and affinity.

Something like X functionallity does X and is generally assigned to 3/4
Something like Y funtionality does Y and is generally assigned to 1/2

It would be nice if it was answered along a machine that is specced as:
Intel i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
12GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5700
Windows 7 SP1 X64

Any help would be awesome.  Either from an independent contractor that can give a like/as comparison to the original request.

thanks all

The number of Bioware's people visiting in here is small, and the time they can spend in here is limited. The greatest majority of message that do get answered will be handled by other gamers. I am a gamer, and a volunteer. But your question isn't something I can respond to. As named, it's self-help here, mostly, gamer to gamer.

No problem Gorath, kinda expected it really. I'm sure some very smart programmers probably play the game and have a strong generalized concept. I've worked around mutli-processor/core servers since 98 and understand how the load is balanced across OS', Exchange, SQL. VMs, Citrix, etc., just curious how powerful games, such as these, draw their requirements.

Good luck and good gaming.
