Certain characters armor will change, but generally it looks like all of the armor ends up looking the same. It was one of the things that kinda let me down a little. Aveline is one of the characters whose armor looks different over time (not with upgrades) but most other characters armor does not change at all.

That is probably my biggest gripe with the game at this point. I like being able to chose which armor my companions wear. In DA:O it was satisfying to have a piece of armor drop that one of companions could use. Unfortunately, because we are no longer able to customize companions armor 2/3 of the armor I loot is useless seeing as my rogue isn't going to wear heavy armor or robes.
