I have a problem with playing the game under Mac. After a while, the computer seems to go into sleep mode (shuts down). Everthing just blacks out and you have to press a button or similiar. Then its into the game again and for the most, its plays alright.  Sometimes though, the game freezes or crashes.

I also have noticed that sometimes the game mimimizes first, the network seems to go down and then the sleep mode occurs. Anyone else notice anything like this?

Sleep mode (unless it's scheduled to go to sleep at certain times) won't trigger while you're playing. Unless, I suppose, you've got one of the 'active corners' setup to go to sleep when you move the mouse into that corner (though, I think that's just display sleep).

If your system is overheating, it will shut down on it's own, but even that isn't sleep mode.

I didn't know what to call it when it shut down. But I think its overheating. SmcFan shows a little over 205F and the fans are going for 6200 rpm. It has to be overheating. Any suggestions on how to avoid this? Running Macbook Pro 5.1, 2,66 GHz.

Only way to avoid (if at all possible) would be to lower graphic settings (resolution, texture quality etc). That and make sure your laptop have some room to breath. Perhaps elevate it so it gets good airflow under the machine as well

What Rimfrost suggested.. plus use SMCFancontrol to crank the fans up a bit before you start playing so that you can get a little bit of a head start to get the airflow going. If possible, you may consider a fan on your desk keeping air moving over the laptop as well.

Get smcfancontrol, and something like Temperature Monitor. Use smcfancontrol to set some moderate settings, play DA2 for 15-20 mins, then go to the desktop and check your temperatures. Keep adjusting your smcfancontrol settings until you have something reasonable.

As above, adjusting your graphics options may also help reduce heat.
