I used the Sword of Mercy because I liked using the two rune slots for speed and damage increase.  But I also can see why the Bloom would be popular. There are alot of enemies who would be very vulnerable to cold damage near the end of the game and it would do well, I think.

Does anyone know if Limbtaker's 25% deathblow chance works against bosses? Or even lieutenants?  If so that could make it very powerful indeed.  But I would have to suspect not.

I used the Bloom Axe til end game and it worked wonders...i found basically NO cold resistant enemies in the end game since having the bloom axe and with the cold damage so high it was freezing/slowing enemies to the point where they could barely attack me before i used my skills...The axe + adrenaline + barrage was a killer combo on bosses...and then with second wind and devour my war was a crazy damage dealer...bosses fell so quick..I'm pretty sure the bloom axe was dropped by the Qunari lieutenant you fight right when you enter hightown during the quest to kill the arishok...i could be mistaken but i think thats where i found it.

Bloom Axe and Celebrant both drop from revenants from the awiergan scroll quest, or atleast they did for me.

I'm not really sure about the mechanics of the game, but 2h war seems to put incredible weight on base damage, almost to the exclusivity of other stats on weapons. For act 3 I ended up using a regular ol' maul with no stats or enchantments on it which consistently outdamaged Celebrant, even with the +% damage rune. Somewhere during last straw, I found a "Superior Maul" in a garbage pile somewhere that boasts 74 dps, which is the highest level weapon I've found so far.

I'm a little disappointed that all the "endgame" 2h weapons seem to cap out so low, especially since I'm up to my neck in super-high dps daggers that also have pretty stats and colors.

Bloom, Sundering, Basraath-Kata, Limtaker are all good choices.

The Celebrant is good if your tanking.

Yea i hav it its pretty badass but u may want to upgrade your strength to 34 before u but it otherwise u waste ur money and have to wait to level up

Void Hammer is pretty good, I used it all through Act II. I wish I hadn't spent the money on it, though, cause there's other stuff about as good you can get free.

If Celebrant deals Spirit Damage, I'll probably stay away from it on NM. Elemental damage is a pain to use because every enemy is immune to at least one element.

OK I bought the Barbarian Sword from the Black Emporium and it turns out to be Sten's Sword from DA:O, Asala.

Seems like Black Emporium sells a lot of DA:O items since I also found out King Something the Forgotten's armor turns out to be King Callian's armor. I'm curious to see if there's a way to get Starfang in DA 2 since it was in the preview video for Ser Isaac's armor.

k now that all the viewers have seen this...wat is the best longsword in the game. imo i think fadeshear is the strongest im like lvl 45 and it does like 66 dps while other swords are struggling to atleast reach 40 dps can anyone give advice?

It also looks like Sol Bad guy's sword in Guilty Gear, its so bad ass.

Sol Badguy's sword is nothing but a sheet of metal with a handle on it. Hmm...not that two-handed swords are much different.

Its a very nice weapon and it served me well my only regret was how much gold it cost and how I would have liked to spend that gold on other things come end game.  If your dying for an upgrade though this is not a bad sword at all though.  I used this untill I got "Limbtaker" (bought in Act 3) which is pretty beastly, it adds +25% chance of a Deathblow on regular enemies.  Enchant this with the unique rune to increase attack speed and your wiping out mobs of enemies with ease.

I used Bloom. It's a 2 handed Axe that does cold damage. freezes people up. 62 dps on it i think.

How the hell did you get level 45? I was level 22 when I beat the game.

I don't think Bioware thought people would get level 45 or so until much later in the dlc. So theres probably not a better 1 handed weapon for you.

Sword of Mercy for me, turned out to be pretty mean with the primeval lyrium rune sandal makes for you with the idol shard and a rune of devastation.

I used Limbtaker, the bonuses on it are really awesome. I threw on the 10% damage rune since it boost my damage more than the lyrium rune(90% of my damage is specials which attack speed doesn't help at all).

Yeah. the ones you mentioned and the Bassrath0 Kata all have higher requirements then those 2...just figured I would mention them since it seems you can get them early in act 3( and a someone mentioned using them throughout the act as well) as well( shops) but the stats are...

Her Song : 34 physical damage, 1 rune slot, +117 attack, +5 health regen rate, +26% healing to this character(sounds like a good tanking type weapon...or those who wanna be the the only warrior in the party like me)... found in the pile of bones in Sundermount Caverns.

Widow's Fury: 34 physical damage, 1 rune slot, +15% critical chance, 5% chan to stun...sounds like a decent to good dps weapon from the sounds of it...bought from gallows courtyard weapon shop.

edit: for Bassrath-Kata : +126 attack, 6%critical chance, +10% physical damage, +11 damage vs humans, no rune slots... quest reward for 'the lost swords' quest...you have to tell the giver, you don't want gold for the completion of the quest.

That's what I hear...have not seen it myself...since my PS3 screwed up and needed to be serviced...hopefully I can play again in a couple of weeks...when sony sends me my new one.

I am not so sure which one between Sataareth and Bassarath-Kata is wielded by Arishok because basically their designs look almost same where the size differs.

By the way, Sataareth is awarded by defeating Arishok. If it is his weapon, that makes sense.
(and Bassarath-Kata is basically class-dependent weapon. There are mage and rogue version of them existed.)

Still bad ass though. The best two-handed in my opinion is the Blade of Mercy but I can't stop using Bassarath-Kata. It looks so cool. Even its name is so cool. Human cutter! How can it be more bad-ass than that?
