What does this do? Really... it appears in the "trash" part of the inventory... does it do anything special or is it a quest eward that sells for 70 silver (lol...).
With the elf lady saying powerful magic slumbers within it I had expected... WAY more. :S

No reply for almost an hour, it is really junk???? Thats a bit... dissapointing.

Junk for me too.....less than ideal. Similar thing happens if you elect to take an evil tome rather than reading it. You get a tome of greater ... something I can't remember (the attribute increasing book), but it's junk and can't be used.
Incomplete content maybe?

*bump*
Any response on this? This feels like a bug whereby the book should be usable. I'm gonna hang on to this book. The post quest dialogue from the lady implies the book is valuable. Also the fact that this is the hardest path to take (you must fight all 3 demons) implies that it should have the greatest reward (as opposed to taking 6 stat points consequence free and just through dialogue). This is either a big oversight, or they are hanging out to reward in a bigger way during an expansion fro taking the honorable path.

Yeah, I thought this was a little disappointing as well. I'm hoping its a bug.

I think it's a joke. She tells you it's an ancient book that belonged to the last dreamer and that it is virtually priceless. Then you discover it's junk and sells for 70 silver... Quite hilarious to some

@Chalk, yeah you're probably right, I didn't factor in the developer's being evil ****s

The fact that i jumped out of game and came here and did a search means i didn't get the funny i guess -
I hope it is a bug -- is any one here tried it as a mage? thought it might be class specific. It's that or in the rush to get DA2 out the door something got canned and a tool for getting a skill in a Fade quest or something (like changing shape into animals like DA) became junk. I'd like to hear from BW on this one...

As a mage it is still just junk.

Yeah, this was incredibly disappointing for me. I understand sometimes 'evil' is more profitable than 'good', but really for rewards to be that unbalanced seems a little unfair. I mean, six Attribute points!?

I am pretty sure it is a bug. I went back to re due the attribute points
since I found out you get about 4 for doing the mission. I did this
because I was trying my Cunning up to 30 so I could unlock Complex
chests. However when I reloaded my save from the beginning of the Fade,
and EVEN the beginning of the mission it would not give me the attribute
points for any of the puzzles or catching the mobile book.
To
add, I also read up on some sites that if you argue with the demon
before the pride and desire demon, you get friendship points from Anders
without getting Rivalry points from Merrel. So I reloaded to trying and
take advantage of that and after doing what I just described and
defeating the demon none of the Opinion stats appeared. I get the
feeling that this quest is bugged and will probably be fixed after the
first patch.... Hopefully...

Whoa, you get 6 attribute points killing Fenriel? I tried to save him and got this stupid book. What a bad move that was.

This is the most BS quest reward. The book HAS to serve some purpose right?

I'm thinking DLC Plant myself,

People may have destroyed or sold it. I mean, if what I'm hearing is true and there was a 6 point attribute bonus if you took the other option in the fade, then it better just as good if not better than that.

Ha, yeah, I just did the exact same thing. How ridiculous can you get?

Bump. Any official word if it's a bug or not? It's one of the most disappointing quest reward I've faced. But I've not sold it. I've put it in my chest. Maybe it will have some use in DLC or an expansion pack.

This is why there should be a "Key Item" category. A place for items like this, quest items, companion upgrades, etc.

I shrugged it off as something that was revered by the Dalish but Hawke would just toss away

Tome of the Slumbering Elders = junk. WTF?!
#22
Posté 20 mars 2011 - 06:19
It is rather odd that something the Dalish would treasure so is only worth about 70 silver. Hopefully this truly is a bug and will be fixed when the next round of patches come through. Definitely not a game breaker though.

Mind you in DAO when you help Cammen, he gives you that book the tale of Ilorren, which you can swap with the hermit for some item or other. Maybe it's like that?

I also took the good option and was rewarded with the book. But before that I completed the 2 Barrel repositioning challenges in the fade and got 3 free attribute points for it. So Guess would have benn better to kill the elf to get the full 9 points total. Sometimes evil does pay.

That say that goodness is its own reward... guess not too many people see things that way, huh?
