Actually I found that you can get about 100g before the Deep Roads quest.  So with the 50g offer, you can get around 150g.

I was around 96g when I got the offer, but I had bought some stuff.  So I'm pretty sure if I saved everything I would have had 100g.  You can easily get that if you explore everywhere and do all the quests plus sell whatever you don't need.  Also make sure you get payment for quests whenever it is an option.  It may be possible to get over 100.

Oh and I recieved a letter at home from the guy who wants to offer you the gold.  I had every quest completed except some small side quest before I received the letter.

Thank You for your comments, DA fans.
I've just reached about 80 sovreigns and there was no sight of the mentioned dwarf. As many of you said he should appear if the player is unable to reach 50 gold coins by himself.
I'll try to complete the ongoing quests before heading to the deep roads.
I hope I'll find some very interesting equipment in the deep roads.
Currently my warrior is using Blood Dragon armor because it was the best armor set he owns.

He doesn't just appear - you get sent a letter that you have to accept for him to appear in Lowtown.
Aparently you have to complete 50% of the act one missions for this letter to arrive.

Note: You likely won't see the mail icon by your house, you just have to go there at which point you will be told a new letter arrived.

My question is should I buy the skill tomes? I think there are 2 right? You have no chance of getting them again if you miss em the first time around? I got 55 gold. Ahhh not usre what to do.

Damn, I must have missed a lot, I thought I had been reasonably thorough but I admit I certainly didn't go to scratch and peck levels.

EDIT: Is there a pretty extensive list of quests per levels available yet?

There are quite a few quests available in act 1. I think I ended up with over 100g or close to that but still took the dwarf up on his offer to save me some cash. I am 99.9% certain that I completed every single quest though.

I dont think I even noticed the skill tomes in act 1...I must not have been very curious with the merchants.

Well I have around 70g before I went to give 50g to the Deap Roads. I am now ready to actually go into the Deap Roads, and I am already back at 46g.

I did use the more coin stuff, and didn't buy any weapons or armors or anything. And playing on normal.

Are you saying there is a total of about 116g available in Act 1?  Based on what I've accumulated the max I would have had would be around 65g.

Yip. I didn't buy anything though, no tomes nothing. I go with the option that nets me the most money for quests, and sell anything that I wasn't really using... I bought backpacks that's about it. I did all the side quests, and secondary quests. Returned anything I found when I'm travelling. I got through with good gold!

I did everything, in every way, and had 101 sovereigns, and I didn't use that 50 guy as he never sent me a letter.
