The clothing/armor that she wears after you romance her is ugly, clips a lot with her neck, and her original clothing is better. It would be great if someone made a mod to stop her from changing into it, but I'm not sure if that's possible without the toolset.
Mod to make Merrill not change her clothing?

It would also be nice if there were a mod version of her "upgrade" armor that wasn't white and pinkish... greens, black and grey, anything but candy-colored.

search for merril (not merrill, which is correct but so many people misspell it) under dragon age 2 files on www.dragonagenexus.com.
There's a couple of alternate colouring versions of Merrill's white album, and some minor gda tweaks to let you keep her original outfit after romance.
EG: new sexy merrill has an armor swap mod in the optional files. And while you're there can can consider how she looks in her original armor, without the chainmail. I don't like her new scarf though.

I believe you would also be able to open the item_variations.gda, go to the bottom, there will be 2 spots for Merril. Spots 441 and 442. The 1st one (101060) will be labeled unibody - unique - merril a. This is the green outfit that she has on originally. The 2nd one (101061) will be labeled unibody - unique - merril b. This is the more armory looking armor she wears after you romance her. To keep her in the green outfit, go to g2da_column_7 of 101060 and copy the value (bdy_mrl). Then go to g2da_column_7 of 101061 and paste it over the value that is in there (bdy_mrlb). This will make it so she will remain in the green outfit at all times.

Which just changes the graphics that link to the item in question, correct?
I've been through the mods I can find for Merrill's second armor, and I can't find anything I like... it's all still pinky and purplely and whatnot... or she's half naked... or the change in armor is packed with a change in her face/hair/otherwise.

All the steps I listed actually does is instead telling her to change clothing from Set A to Set B after romancing her is tell her to change clothing from Set A to Set A.
