I have been playing this server from back when it was Old Legion of Rhun and we have been making changes with our server, and we are seeking some new players. We have had some changes with our building staff and dms as some do not play as much as they did .The server has decided to switch from the roleplay section of Gamespy to PW Action. We all still encourage people to roleplay if they want to , but we have always been more suited as an action server. We hope that you will come join us and help us become a better place to play.

Please come and give us a try. Most of our server rules are still listed as when we were a roleplay server. If you think that they are too restrictive, then feel free to post your opinions on our website.

Our server has ride-able horses which are nice as they give added speed for the player and a slight armor boost to the rider if riding skills are developed and guilds are here for the many classes of characters . Our server has NPC recruitable assistants that can be persuaded to aid you and your party on your quests . These are simalar to ones in Balders Gate and other games you have played before.
Most of the towns from Waterdeep to Balders Gate will be present so a man can chose which to make his own.

I would like to add my voice to this. I have been away due to health issues for some time but have returned for a while and joined the swordcoast and can honestly say the playuers and staff I have met have been very friendly. Some euro player s as well. The server says its action based but encouages light rolepalying lots to explore and is based along the sword caost including Waterdeep, neverwinter, daggerford and extending all the way to silverymoon.

Thank you for that Torcyne2. We are glad to have you here, and everyone else as well.

I would just like to add that we go east as well to places like the Anauroch Desert, and the Shadowdale regions. We also have an expanding Underdark, and in the future, the land of Thay as well.

Well I have been playing for around 2 weeks and can say the DM and players are friendly the atmosphere is relaxed and shows the maturity of the players. Younger Players have joined and embrased this approach to play which I think speaks volumes.

One thing that really impressed me about the attitude to the players was when a player was advanced a few levels so they could join in the group adventure rather than be left out.

Yes it bumps the post but it also shows players should give the server a try.

More new quests have been added.

Did you ever want to be the hero, and save the princess in distress, or the handsome prince? Well now you can. Fight your way to the top of the tower and defeat the sinister Black Knight. This quest is scripted so that a guy can save the princess, and a girl can save the prince.

For all you evil types, we have a new quest for you too. However you'll have to show your evil intentions, before the hooded stranger will come looking for you.

And for those of you who find the leveling too slow for new characters, we have a new quest for you too. A new village full of nasty smelly orcs for you to slay. Slay the nasty Chief Grobnuk, and recieve a nice boost for your armour.

Please come give our server a try. We now have a good player base, with players from all around the world. There are usually a few players on at most times, and about 5 to 8 players during our busier times. Our players are pretty friendly, and are always willing to help new players to get started. We have some role players and some action players, so whatever your style of play, there are usually a few players to party with.

We have started doing dm quests again, when there are a few more players on. They are mostly mini quests, but with more players, they will get bigger.

We have a little something for everyone. There are well over 450 places to explore, for some fun or role play. For action players, we have the main quest, which is nearly complete. Our world is still expanding, so there will be many more new areas to explore, and quests to enjoy.

We are still seeking new players. Everyone is welcome. We only require cep2.2c. No other haks are needed.

Please come give us a try, and perhaps you will make a few new friends.

A special thank you for all the players we have now.

Thank you for making the server a fun place to play for everyone. Posted Image

Having played on many excellent worlds over the past seven years, I can honestly say that Legion of Darkstar is one of the best. Sadly, many great servers have closed over the years and I recently spent some months searching for a new home. Torcyne very kindly introduced me to Legion and I believe that I have found a home.
What is good about Legion?:
1. It is a home for both roleplayers and action players. The choice is yours. Want to hack and slash your way to glory? Feel free. No one will force you to RP. Want to RP your way through a good story? You can do that here, and you will find other players to do it with. Want to test your best build against another player's best build? No problem, as long as both parties agree to the contest.
2. A vast number of areas, all different and all interesting. Want to explore? You will probably never be able to visit every area in this world (it is growing faster than you can keep up). Of course you will need to be able to defend yourself as the monsters can be very challenging :)
3. Quests galore. There are so many quests available that you are unlikely to be able to complete them all. Most of them come with very worthwhile rewards in terms of xp, gold, item enhancements and quest items. They are nicely balanced so that at any level you can find exciting quests to embark on.
4. A very nice range of equipment. There are items of every type up to +10. Want a druid with a powerful scythe? You will find what you need here. Choose your weapons and armour according to your taste without worrying about being limited by them not being available.
5. Multiple races. Want to play an ogre? Go for it. You can choose from a wide variety of forms. Want a burning head? Play an Azar :)
6. Long and challenging main quest divided into many subquests. As your character progresses through the levels you can complete the chapters for those levels. Although level 40 is the highest level, life, as they say, begins at 40 :) Battle epic level dragons. Collect large amounts of gold. Buy epic level equipment. Add upgrades to your equipment. You will be continually challenged. The main quest only really gets going at level 40.
7. Friendly players. Although the player base is currently reasonably small, some of the players are very dedicated and spend many hours on the server. Almost all will be prepared to help you if you need it. Just ask. No one on when you log on? Solo for awhile. Sooner or later someone else will join you.
I could go on and on but at least the above will give you a feel for what the server is all about. Create your favourite character and join us. Look for me in game; I am on quite a lot (european times). If you need help getting started, call on me.
Happy gaming :)

Ok my 5 cents worth .

Having played on a few servers over the years and found few I have loved (Avermere Reborn) , that have come and gone, and DM'ed on a couple (not that my skills in this area are more than average)

and then creating  My own server for our gaming group
(MY Darling "Wombats wife" is the driving force and scripter).

again and again I return to this server for a break , some fun playing away from my own issues.

friendly people have come and gone, DM's From the Eeeevilest DM in the verse have come and gone :( .
but the friendly attitude and freedom to play and explore however you like.. grinding for levels or rping on the beauty of the Elven decore, or entering the age old argument on Elven lack of humility and the Dwarven ingrained right to argue with elves, while sounding like a Drunken Scot  , I'm happy to say that here is my Home away from home.

Taswombat
A.K.A Toon Disaster  (Maybe someone will remember this)
The Horse Hater (Some think this, but horsies are nice ... especially with a horseradish sauce )

We have had some big updates added.

Our main quest 'Return of the Time of Dragons' is now complete.

Now you can slay the nasty Tyranthraxus, and rescue the Goddess of Dragons. However you must first destroy his source of power, the Pool of Radiance. That and many other nasty puzzles await your challenge. Of course you'll find some dragons and many other nasty creatures along the way. The quest is built to challenge the best character builders, so bring your best builds, and give it a try. You'll need to bring your brain along too. For the role player in you, there is a storyline with some twists and turns, and multiple dialog options.

We've also changed the reward system for the main quest. All the main bosses have new reward scripts, so that everyone who takes part in the quest will get a reward as each boss is slain. I'm sure you all know of the frustration of having a large party, and the boss only dropping one quest item. Now everyone who takes part will get the items they need, plus a random reward item. The reward item you get will depend on a dice roll. Some are good, some not so good, and some are very unique to specific builds. You can also trade them among friends if you wish.

We've also had our first Dragonslayer. Posted Image

Congrats to Taswombat (Hbonis) for slaying Tyranthraxus and completing the quest.
His statue has already been placed in our Hall of Dragonslayers.

Who will be next? it could be you.

For the role players, we have new stuff for you too. The elven city of Evereska is being built, and some player houses added too. Plenty of new quests being added as well. Lots of new shops added, for those of you who like shopping as much as I do, lol.

We will be adding more Underdark areas as well, plus some more drow houses.

I hope you will come give us a try. Everyone is welcome. Whether you prefer role play or action, it does not matter. We have something for all of you. We have yet to update our rules, so do not worry about them. Do as you wish, but remember to respect other players.

I will try to get some screenshots posted as well.

I just wanted to say that this server is indeed awesome. I've been playing there since beginning of April or so and the journey for my first character from 1 - 40 was a blast and even though he's been at 40 for months now, I'm still only 50-60% of the way through the main quest and on this server, things do really just get started at lvl 40 with plenty of quests and challenges. I've spent more time with Damien (my first character) after 40 than I did prior. Each character's journey to 40 can really be a completely different path if you want it to be.

Also, the main quest treasure system where everyone in the party who is present gets the main quest items and a key treasure item really makes it worth it, instead of having to redo a quest over several times so each party member can get the quest item.

This has been my main server since April and there's still a half-dozen old quests I haven't done, plus the evil quests, plus all the new areas and quests added in the last month to explore (underdark) and subraces to test out (drow start in the Underdark and have daylight penalties, undead start at castle Zarabek and have a variety of immunities and vulnerabilities, etc).

Thank you Dante. I'm glad you're enjoying your time here. Posted Image

Plenty of new stuff has been added lately, and plenty more to come. I've been getting positive comments about the Underdark, and so I have been making a lot of new areas and quests there.

Coming in future updates, will be new quests, more Underdark areas, player houses, and more Evereska, the elvin city.

I am starting on a new alternate main quest, The Drow Houses Rise Again. The eight noble houses of Menzoberanzan are gaining in strength, and seek new lands to conquer. Can you stop them before it's too late. This quest will be available to everyone. Even undead and drow characters will have their own version of this quest.

Drow characters will seek to become the number one house. Be warned though, for Lolth will be watching you. For if you fail in your quest, she will not be pleased. For drow, displeasing Lolth means only one punishment. Being turned into a drider. Yes, your drow character can be turned into a drider if you are not careful. Once you become a drider, you stay a drider until you die. In the Underdark, that may come sooner than you think.

Look for this new alternate main quest, coming soon.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we are still here, and our server is running much better now. We are running on a new computer now, so our crashing problems of the past have been fixed.

We are still adding more new quests, and our new drow houses alternate main quest. More new items are being made to make your time more enjoyable. There are plenty of new toys to play with, and many of them have scripted powers. Even an armour for palemasters, that has a summon ability, which creates some new powerful undead summons.

Of course we still have our main quest: Return of the Time of Dragons. The quest is designed for high level characters, and is very long and challenging. Challenge yourself with nasty combat, and brain teasing puzzles. Plus our unique boss treasure system, in which everyone in the quest party gets a quest item and a random treasure reward. A few people have completed the quest, and have had statues made for everyone to see their accomplishments.

We have plenty of new things for role players, including our new elven city of Evereska. Plenty of new shops and quests, and a unique true elf longbow quest. A new style of quest, using numerous skill checks, and plenty of secrets to be found. Can you be the next true elf, rescue a woman cursed with neverending sleep, and earn yourself a nice reward.

Please come give us a try. We are a mix of roleplay and action, with plenty of things to do for everyone.

I guess with Gamespy down, we are not in PW Action anymore.

We have made a few little changes to our server.

We now use the cep22_v1.tlk file, so no more having to rename the tlk file.

We're now using the player account security script. Many thanks to Funky for making it for us.

For action players, we now feature max hp per level up, so no more annoying rerolling.

We still encourage role play, so role players are welcome here as well. I look forward to reading your character stories, as well as writing my own.

Currently in development is our drow houses sub-main quest, which is about half done at the moment. However we still have our main quest; The Time of Dragons Has Returned. That should keep you busy awhile, lol. Only a few players have completed it so far. Perhaps you will be next.

We have had a few new players lately. I welcome you all, and I hope you are enjoying our server.

Please come give us a try. Everyone is welcome. Posted Image

Interesting. I asked for that change over a year and a half ago and was rather rudely told by Maverick there was no way it was going to happen.

Here's the thread.

Gregor - as the newer, harder, epic areas expanded, the PCs needed the extra HP and I think more of the player base recognized this and with that feedback, Mav decided to change it up.

Over the last few months, our server has had a few changes, including a new ip address. Unfortunately our server no longer shows on the NWNCX server listing. Not sure how to fix that without a little help. Oh well, the server is still up and running at this new ip address.

Our new ip address: 72.84.105.100:5121

We have had a lot of other changes too. Many more new quests, for various character levels, have been added. Other changes include: a free character releveler, an alignment changer, and an xp banking system that uses items to save your xp. New custom henchmen have been added, for a little starting help, and mid level help, up to about level 20. All of the new areas that were once empty, now contain new encounters and quests. More shops have been added to the newer cites.

We still have our main quests, though the drow quest is still being built. All of our crafting is free, either from the radial crafting menu, or the tailor models in our crafting shop. You can change anything about your character (heads, wings, tails, colours, etc), and rename your items.

Please come give us a try. Everyone is welcome.

I tried this world twice with a friend. The first time we ran into some issues early on that made us quit in frustration. We sent our concerns to the admins -- who to our great surprise responded back, acknowledged our issues, said they were actively working to fix them, and gave us some advice on how to avoid them in the meantime.

We decided to give the world another shot as a result. Managed to get up to max level with only encountering a few serious issues. After playing around a bit their with the max level quests, we decided the style/balancing of the world wasn't to our liking and quit again.

Throughout the whole thing, though, the admins were engaged in the world, active on the forums, putting in small improvements, and actually implementing suggestions. In my experience that's rare to see and was extraordinarily welcome.

In short, the world is active, has friendly admins, cares about the players, and has some interesting modifications that are rare to find (like spellcasters being able to find some equipment that boosts the power of their spells).  One of the better balanced servers with friendly and active admins who are actually constantly making improvements to the world.

I would suggest you make sure you're willing to commit large chunks of time and are a hack'n'slash fan because some of the dungeon runs are very, very long with hordes and hordes of trash monsters.

Thanks, MagicMaster, for your fair assessment.

As anyone who has a built a module will know, it is impossible to be all things to all people. We do strive to please as broad an audience as possible and if we fail to please some, it will not be for want of trying.

One of our principle objectives in developing SCA has been to provide players with challenge. As a result, it is not a world where one can blithely rush into encounters ill-prepared and hope to survive. Instead, one needs to keep one's character as well equipped as possible at all times and always proceed with caution. As in real life, you can never be 100% sure of what is around the next corner. SCA is a thinking person's world. When entering a new area that you have not visited before, make no assumptions. Scout the area and assess what you are up against rather than rushing in. Develop and employ good battle tactics. There will be occasions when, if you simply charge in, you will find yourself up against more than you can handle. Unless you employ strategy, you will probably die often (fortunately, death does not have major consequences). With good battle tactics, however, it is not necessary to ever die (well, hardly ever ;). You can prevail in most encounters as long as you follow the level recommendations.

Personally, I get quickly bored if I can simply rush in and kill everything without being seriously threatened. I enjoy assessing the threat level from a distance and then working out a strategy to win the encounter. Without the very real possibility of death, encounters lack challenge and excitement. It is very satisfying when your tactics work out and you are able to win a seemingly impossible encounter.

A well designed and equipped character can advance quickly through the levels by fighting really tough opponents. It is not impossible to defeat enemies giving up to 700xp each by fighting 'above one's weight'. On the other hand, if you want a more leisurely session, fight lower level monsters for less xp but with less danger.

If you enjoy a tough challenge and using smart battle tactics, you should give SCA a try.
